I watched a few videos on U-Tube about making grilled pizza. One suggested getting one of the pizza pans with little holes in it vs. a pizza stone. (I don't have a pizza stone.) I went to Wal-Mart and debated over the non-stick or the aluminum. I decided to get the aluminum one because I'd be using it mainly on the gas grill, and didn't like the idea...

ARCHIVED Grains, Legumes, Nuts, And Seeds
Marilyn R replied to RiceGuy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Riceguy, I can tolerate most of the foods you mentioned in your posts if I don't overindulge. (For instance, I'll have a tablespoon of nuts for a snack every other day, or sunflower seeds on a salad a couple of times a trace amount of soy lecithen. Anything else with soy (like vegetable oil, mayo, tuna fish, most processed foods, even gluten-free... -
ARCHIVED How To Determine Other Allergies Besides Elimination Diet?
Marilyn R replied to Familytradition's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm so glad to hear your son is doing so much better. If you have insurance, I'd recommend the allergist visit. You'll have three co-pays though, one for the initial visit, one for the skin prick testing, and one for the visit with the dr. giving you the results. To avoid the last co-pay, be really nice to the nurse that administers the skin prick test... -
I have a former co-worker that swears by the raw foods diet, but I'm not sure this is the specific one she follows. She looked into alternative methods of treatment when diagnosed with Systemic lupus because conventional medicine treatment was abysmal. She's doing great, 10 years later. She pursued getting her masters degree and changing careers in the...

ARCHIVED Why Are People So Insensitive?
Marilyn R replied to espresso261's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I will tell you about some insensitive things I've had thrown my way: Mostly, it's people outright accusing me of having an eating disorder (I'm fairly thin). Now THAT is RUDE. -
ARCHIVED Why Does The Reaction Linger So Long
Marilyn R replied to GFreeMO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I checked out a book on AI diseases about 2 years ago. I can't attribute the author, but she said a good soak with a mixture of epsom salts and baking soda (I believe two cups of the former and 1 cup of the latter) was really good as a detox soak. I personally like to add pepperment oil. The soak has never hurt me, and has made me feel better than I... -
ARCHIVED How To Determine Other Allergies Besides Elimination Diet?
Marilyn R replied to Familytradition's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I went strictly gluten-free, then soy free, dairy free, corn free (all due to reactions) and still felt like crap. I went to an allergist and none of the aforementioned showed up as true allergies, (except wheat and barley) but I scored big time on turkey, pecans and egg yolks. Pecans where something I thought was safe, as were eggs. I was starting to... -

ARCHIVED Veggie Slices (Gluten Free Cheese)
Marilyn R replied to RVluvin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My sister toured Cabot (and a few other Vermont cheese places) last year and called to tell me that the Swiss and Cheddar were gluten-free and lactaid free, and had an awesome quality control program. I tried the Cabot cheeeses and still had a problem with them. I think it was the protein. Now, 18 months later (but I was a chicken about trying them... -
ARCHIVED Low Vitamin D And Iron - Nausea Connection?
Marilyn R replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My morning nausea has improved, nearly subsided since supplementing Vitamin D3 after a low lab result in Vit. D. I like the drops, BTW. You just stick a drop on a teaspoon and lick it off, or you can stick a drop in any liquid you have in the morning. I've never seen medical articles correlating nausea & Vitamin D defficiency though. I get a... -

ARCHIVED Do You Have Dreams About Accidentally Eating Gluten?
Marilyn R replied to srall's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It's completely normal to have these dreams. When I first went gluten-free it was always about being at a BBQ party eating big fluffy buns. I mentioned it to my doctor and she said she had those dreams when she was about to graduate from med school. In her dreams, she couldn't find the lecture hall where she was supposed to take her last exam, so she would... -

I haven't found this flour mix locally, but I remembered wishing for this when I checked this blogger's post. Hope it helps, good luck! -
ARCHIVED Just Need To Vent...
Marilyn R replied to glutenfreemamax2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you like onion, I whipped up some fabulous patty melts on my brother's gluten-free Grill when I visited him. He asked his wife if they could have them once a week. They're great in lettuce wraps if you don't feel like dealing with buns, and neither of them are gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Being Glutened / Changes In Reaction?
Marilyn R replied to India's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I recently had this experience too. I was glutened at a restaurant, and had C vs almost immediate D like I always had before. But I still had the neuro reaction. I cannot go up or down a flight of stairs for about a week after ingesting gluten. It's too scary because my balance and control are all off, and my feet seem independent of my brain. I take... -
ARCHIVED Karma Is A .....
Marilyn R replied to glutenfreemamax2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My observation is that you seem very angry about him, and that you hope he has celiac disease. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, even though it's just an inconvenience that can be coped with. -

We had brown rice pasta with tomato sauce and smoked chicken and parmesan/feta cheese. Saint boyfriend cleaned up, which probably means I'll have a mess to contend with tomorrow morning! It doesn't matter, sleep is more imortant. -

I really love the Chebe pizza mix, and it's easy to throw together. They sell it on Amazon for about $3 a mix. My niece told me you can be a "Prime" member for $35 a year and get free second day air shipping with every order. I've benn pondering it. I've also enjoyed the buns from Chebe, and you don't need any special equipment. So I guess I'd ask... -
ARCHIVED New And Needing Some Words Of Wisdom (Or Just Plain Help)
Marilyn R replied to Omma's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Omma, Welcome to the forum and good luck. It isn't uncommon to develop other food intolerances, and dairy is one of the first offenders. You may need to give up dairy for awhile. There are plenty of substitutes, (almond, rice, hemp milk, my personal favorite became canned coconut milk from an oriental or Indian store that didn't contain soy additives... -

My DP is one of the kindest gents you'd ever meet. Great sense of humor, loves everybody and everybody loves him. He loves animals and they love him back. Great guy. He was a saint when I was sick, grocery shopped, cooked, never complained that I was sick as a dog and wanted to die. I"d say, "Babe, I think I'm dying" and he'd say "We're all dying... -
There's nothing wrong with preparing all of your foods at home, or taking foods to share (and safely eat) at parties. I started getting weird about plastic containers, now I freeze everything in pint jars. I'm not sure if that's OCD or not....but it seems healthier and a pint of whatever I've prepared is about right for my lunch or dinner. If my dp is...

I had a really good experience at Bone Fish Grill. I was a little nervous, because I haven't had very good results with eating out. We had a fabulous meal and great service, and I didn't get gluttened. I plan to go back to Bone Fish Grill again for special occasions. Are there other restaurant chains you recommend?

We had gluten-free pizza with shrimp, bacon, serrano pepper, onion, mozzarella and parmesan cheese. First time I used the Chebe pizza mix and I'm in love with it! Had that with a cup of rich homemade cream of mushroom soup. The best part was dipping the thicker end pieces of crust in the soup, which was a pretty basic recipe but I added a wee bit of sauteed... -
We ate out for the first time in over three months tonight. It hasn't personally been worth it for me, but that's a choice you'll have to make for yourself. (Plus, I'm presuming I'm quite a bit older than you.) We went to Bone Fish Grill, they had a great menu, superb service and a gluten-free menu to die for. I'm hoping I'll be ok tomorrow and the...
