ARCHIVED Eggs Intolerance?!
Marilyn R replied to Februaryrich's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I had allergy skin prick testing because it seemed like everything I stuck in my mouth was making me sick. I scored a 3 on egg yolks. The more common allergin is egg whites. I didn't have a score on soy, but soy makes me sicker than a dog. The Allergist didn't seem all that surprised, and explained the differences in food allergens and food intolerances... -
ARCHIVED What's For Breakfast Today?
Marilyn R replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
OMG. I have to try that. I'd have to add capers or minced onions, but that sounds over the top good! -
I'm just reading my post and wondering how you can make bread without some form of fat and/or liquid. That's impossible, even with flatbread.
-
Ok, I should switch to to the cooking forum but here are the ingredients: Millet flour, brown rice flour, ground flax seed, salt, non aluminum baking powder, cultured brown rice flour and ascorbic acid. The website is www.samisbakery,com. They claim hand made and brick oven baked. I wouldn't even question it but I get sick for three days with...

Thanks for all your good advice. I probably shuold not eat that bread, it really was too good to be true. I've made some decent flatbread on my own, but it wasn't pliable and had to be served hot off the grill. Mamaw, you are correct, it is Sami's not Tami's bakery. They produce wheat breads too. I'll give them a call tomorrow, but I suspect...

Last week I packed a lunch, as always. I decided I just could not eat another salad! I was done. So I went to a local restaurant that advertises gluten-free food. I asked some questions and ended up ordering a wrap made with millet & flax seed. I ordered hummus served with the same flatbread. I ate the entire wrap and most of the bread served with...

ARCHIVED I'm So Bitter And Sick Of It
Marilyn R replied to zus888's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I used to get a serious cold or bronchitis twice a year. Now I haven't had a cold in almost two years. It used to be a big problem, because all of the OTC cold remedies make me break out in hives. So I just sufferred through the 1-2 weeks I had the cold with homemade remedies. (Chicken soup, Vick's Vaporub.) You're going to get some weird blood tests... -
Water and bananas aren't common allergins, so your response lacks logic. Sorry! I've read a few books relating to IBS and food allergies that recommend rotating foods (even food families) in your diet. Most authors were dieticians or MDs. Open Original Shared Link

Sailor Jerry's is a dark rum made in the USA btw.

I made a huge batch of gluten-free Chicken soup today to freeze. I made it without rice or noodles because rice noodles cook up so quickly, or I can add leftover rice. If you like curry, I freeze curry quite often with good results. Another thing I like to freeze is twice baked potatoes, a dozen at a time.

I think Sailor Jerry's is okay. If you're still healing, alcohol can be hard on your gut, or the mixer can be. Many standard mixes have corn fructose syuup or high fructose period. My dr. warned me that I'm really likely to have diabetes, which pretty much eliminates alcoholic beverages, darn it!

When it seemed like everything I repeated in my diet (soy, dairy, corn, eggs ... everything) I searched for the foods that were the least likely to be allergens, and I tried rotating protein, vegetable and carborhydrate sources. I had to totally eliminate all processed food, even gluten-free foods from reliable sources. I reckon it was from the trace soy...

ARCHIVED Still Dealing W Constant Hunger
Marilyn R replied to rain's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It may pay to eliminate soy, if indeed you have a thyroid condition. Then again, it may be prudent to eliminate soy even if you don't have a thyroid condition. Good luck, hope you feel better!. -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Marilyn R replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Last night we had poblano peppers stuffed with smoked chicken, sauted mushrooms, green onions, Rotel, and Fresco cheese with baked winter squash. Tonight we had marinated grilled pork steaks with homemade BBQ sauce, romaine salad and roasted sweet potatoes. A plus for last night, B plus tonight. (But the pork steaks were on sale 2 for 1 and dp found... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Rice-Free Probiotics?
Marilyn R replied to rachbomb's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
sauerkraut? I like it every now and then. I understand where you are, have been there. In case you're wondering, it gets so much easier! Once you heal, you can reintroduce foods that were your enemy before. There's a recipe somewhere on the web for making coconut milk yogurt with probiotic supplements, but I can't seem it find it for you. Hope... -
ARCHIVED Still Dealing W Constant Hunger
Marilyn R replied to rain's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
When I saw your post topic I thought you were a newbie and was going to suggest more protein. Guess what? I'm finally at even keel at 18 months, and where I feel like I might make some significant progress. So try to give it a little more time. I never would have thought that it would take this much time, I surely didn't. Wish you well.... -
ARCHIVED Depressed And Hungry....

Rice cakes with cheese melted on top, or with peanut butter. A salad of canned beets and fresh or canned mandarin orange segments. Microwaved sweet potato. Or Microwave a white potato, cut it in half & scoop a bit of the the potato out. Add 1/3 cup or 1/4 cup of safe canned chili to top it with. And cheese. Do you have a refrigerator or can... -
ARCHIVED I Got Glutened At Longhorn Steakhouse
Marilyn R replied to lolololo's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Or maybe the grill was contaminated? I've had the same experience from going to a seafood restaurant the second time. The first time was fine. I explained my gluten intolerance and requested plain greens, no croutons, no dressing, plain broiled fish prepared only with olive oil. The second time my symptoms were dead on the same as yours. I haven... -
ARCHIVED What Are You Canning/preserving?
Marilyn R replied to love2travel's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi Love2Travel, I don't know if my taste buds are as fully developed as your's, but I was amazed that pesto still tasted so good sanz the dairy. And nobody ever mentioned that it wasn't as good as before when I gave it as a gift or enjoyed it with friends. I "put up" four quarts of Jamaican style curry goat tonight. I think I crave it because of my... -
Thanks again Karen. I think in Montana you can pick up results from your blood work because it is state law. I think it should be the law everywhere! I never would have known I had a vitamin D defficiency unless I picked up and reviewed my own lab results. Sad, but true. Nobody from the doctor's office called me. (They call when they want to refer...

Jamaican curry goat. I took some liberties and added chopped carrots, fresh okra and taters. I think the bone marrow is good for us. If not, it still tastes really good. -
ARCHIVED Want To Know For My Son
Marilyn R replied to ldinap's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Should I stop obsessing about the possibility for celiac and just monitor my son? For me personally, I don't plan to go back to eating gluten...I'm concerned for him. Sorry for the book! I don't know if this will help or not. From what I've learned on this forum there are two genes that are carriers of celiac disease...DQ2 & DQ8. Studies in the UK... -
ARCHIVED Lunch Options?
Marilyn R replied to WifeWentGF's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My drill for lunch for several months now has been to buy a bag of romaine salad hearts on the weekend. I chop them up, spin them dry and bag them. That gives me the basis for a week's worth of lunches and dinner salads, if inclined. I have to take a break from salads now, but I had a good run on lunches just by alternating protein sources (gluten-free...
