				ARCHIVED Lots Of Questions....please Help!
srall replied to Holly4's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Holly, a lot of symptoms that you have I also had. I tested negative for celiac, however dropping gluten, dairy and corn from my diet changed my life. It's worth a try to try a new diet for a few weeks and see how you feel. Good luck -

				ARCHIVED Furious With Stupid Doctors
srall replied to MarsupialMama's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Actually I may be able to help you. My friend just did some blood testing and found she was gluten intolerant and she didn't have to have gluten in her system. I'm going to text her for the name of the lab and a website address and then I'll get that to you. It may be later in the day or week because she's traveling. But I know she also did the tests... -

				ARCHIVED Furious With Stupid Doctors
srall replied to MarsupialMama's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh My G... I am literally nauseated from your post. I'm in disbelief. Where are you???? I just can't believe just a visceral response from the doctors and "nutritionist" This just makes me praise the Lord for my daughter's pedi. I took her off gluten 6 weeks before her appt because her body was literally falling apart. I was gearing myself up for... -

ARCHIVED How Gluten Friendly Is Your State?
srall replied to Mama Melissa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm in the Twin Cities (MN) and I think it's pretty easy to get gluten free...except most of the gluten free I'm doing is trying to eat what is naturally gluten free to begin with. I was raised in Colorado and whenever I'm there I find it very very easy to navigate. I'm dreading road trips though...I'll just have to pack a cooler ahead of time. -

ARCHIVED Need Your Opinion Please...what Would You Do?
srall replied to divamomma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I should say that my pediatrician was very supportive to my daughter's dietary response, and that was good enough for him to at least call her gluten intolerant. I asked about getting in with a dietician and his response was that the dietician is going to tell you what your child should be eating...which you probably already know. But the trick is getting... -

ARCHIVED Need Your Opinion Please...what Would You Do?
srall replied to divamomma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had a doctor's appointment for my daughter scheduled for November 29th and I remember very well in the middle of October looking at my daughter falling apart and wasting away and saying, "This ends TODAY. You don't have to feel this way one more day." I moved her to a gluten/dairy/corn free diet that night. Then when I did get her to the doctor she tested... -
I also think it's your body detoxing/adjusting esp since you're eating pretty healthy. I had to lose the dairy. You may want to just test that. I think I was pretty sick for a couple of weeks while my body seemed to get rid of all the poison.

This weekend, well actually Christmas day I started having terrible nausea and C, brain fog, you know the usual oh crap I have been glutened symptoms. I thought it was the bacon my husband bought but I looked it up and it claims to be gluten free. The only other thing I can pinpoint is oats. I've successfully eaten oats and oat flour since going gluten...

You may have to move to a whole foods diet for awhile. However, when I first went gluten free and my body was detoxing, I went to the bathroom, and I am not kidding: about 5 to 6 times a day. I felt like my body was just finally expelling all of the poison it had consumed for years. Your body may settle out on its own. I'm not advising against seeing...

ARCHIVED Still Frustrated Not Knowing If I Have Celiac Or Not
srall replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Jason, from my own experience, and from what I've read on this board, the most frustrating thing about both Celiac and gluten intolerance is not being able to figure out what is causing you problems. I still can't believe that doctors have such a hard time diagnosing GI (or dairy, soy or corn intolerance) based on dietary response. If some primitive blood... -

ARCHIVED Rash Related To Gluten Intolerance Or Not?
srall replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It could be dh rash related to gluten. My daughter gets various rashes/hives depending on which foods she's eaten. So dairy gives her a butterfly rash on her face, corn gives her hives all over. Actually I'm the one who gets the dh rash and it's usually blisters concentrated around joints. My dh didn't look like a rug burn, it actually looks sort of like... -
I stopped eating gluten in March of this year and in October my daughter was diagnosed gluten intolerant. When she was diagnosed I took the kitchen gluten free and it was a huge relief. It's so nice not having to worry about the crumbs and cc...and I really am not nearly as sensitive as others on this board. It can make you feel a little OCD even though...

This has happened to me several times. Even after the manager has come by the table. Sometimes the chef even comes and talks to me, and that's when I feel the most assured. I try to just find something on the menu that isn't prepared with gluten in the first place (if that is possible) like fish, meat and a salad and then just stress, no bread, no croutons...

ARCHIVED Doctor Tells Me I Need To Eat Gluten For 15 Days!
srall replied to celiaco's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I love your post. I don't think going to a gluten free diet with my daughter was really that stressful compared to the crazy behavior, high anxiety, chronic D, falling behind in school, joint pain in a 7 year old, dark circles, anemia, vitamin deficiency, headaches, hives, rashes, chronic illness, worrying that she had cancer... Thank heavens her pedi was... -

ARCHIVED Doctor Tells Me I Need To Eat Gluten For 15 Days!
srall replied to celiaco's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ugh...I just typed a response and lost it. The gist was, my mom is also going through this and got so violently ill from the first gluten meal she ate. Argued with the nurse at the GI office...Doc told her to stop eating it because it was making her sick. I can't understand why doctors won't diagnose based on dietary response. Makes no sense. -

ARCHIVED 3 Yr Old Turns Into The Incredible Hulk Help!
srall replied to sassiskull's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter is 7 1/2 and not diagnosed celiac, but we (pedi and I) are calling her gluten/dairy/corn sensitive. I started pulling offending from her foods from her diet mid October so this is new to her. I have been gluten/dairy/corn free since this past spring. Looking back I know I've probably had problems for the past decade and my daughter certainly... -
My daughter and I both had mouth ulcers which going gluten free has cleared up. Good luck on that gluten free baby btw

				ARCHIVED Is Benadryl Safe?
srall replied to srall's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks Loey. Maybe as time goes on I'll be more familiar with what the ingredients are. Of course with my daughter I had to make sure there wasn't corn syrup too because that was causing the extreme reaction. Hopefully that Benadryl will just expire because we won't eat an offending food again. And won't need Advil because no more headaches, and no Rolaids... -

ARCHIVED Poll: gluten-free Diet - Easy Or Hard
srall replied to tarnalberry's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm gluten free less than one year and I voted relatively easy. I eat at home almost every meal now. It wasn't hard figuring out that there were lots of foods available to eat, and the wonder was those foods made me feel so good. Traveling has been a challenge. I really fought with my husband to stay home for TG and Xmas and on the surface I think I just... -

				ARCHIVED Celiac/gluten Intolerance And Diabetes
srall replied to Joe0123's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My mother is Gluten Intolerant and has diabetes. She was a dietician, exercised her entire life (I remember as a kid her going through all the crazes: Jazzercise, Jane Fonda, aerobics classes...) and has always eaten very healthy. My 39 year old brother is almost certainly an undiagnosed celiac based on his long-term symptoms and he was just diagnosed... -

ARCHIVED Celiac Switching From gluten-free Back To Gluten..help!
srall replied to kostrof1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Since I don't know what your situation is, I'll assume you don't have any choice whatsoever and will have no control over your diet. When I eat gluten (and I'm not diagnosed Celiac btw) every joint in my body swells up to the point where I can barely walk. I get a DH rash all over my body and I'm so fuzzy headed I can't think clearly. My rage and anxiety... -

				ARCHIVED Tolerating Child's Cranky/whiny/irritable Behavior?
srall replied to divamomma's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have this issue. My daughter is actually now gluten free, dairy free and corn free. Corn especially just makes her CRAZY. I always feel bad when my husband harshly disciplines her during these crazy episodes because I personally know how food can make you feel insane. Not just pain management but really really out of your mind. So I try and make sure... -

				ARCHIVED Is Benadryl Safe?

Thank you so much Skylark! I knew I'd get a fast response here. Now I can give her a dose now so I can do another one before bedtime. Much appreciated
