  1. The only symptom I ever get is a sharp stabbing pain in my left ribcage area, so when that happens I assume I got glutened.
  2. My Dr told me right after the endo that I had celiac and he showed me the pictures of the scalloping. Mine was pretty bad though.
  3. I bought gluten-free lipsticks and face lotion. I didn't change my shampoos or conditioners. A lot of mainstream lipsticks are gluten free. I use Laura Mercier, Benefit, and Estee Lauder- you have to check each type- I know all Benefit's and LM are gluten-free, but EL's aren't all gluten-free. I use Oil of Olay lotion and that is gluten-free.
  4. SA1937- even still at 10, that is a big improvement! I had a positive TTG in Aug 2010 of >100, I just got retested 3 weeks ago and my level was 2.2 (anything over 4 was considered positive). I am wondering if there is something else going on- have you been tested for diabetes? I think I remember reading on here that a positive TTG could mean that...
  5. I was diagnosed in September and my blood test levels were super high and my biopsy showed blunting and atrophy (I think they said Marsh 3). I just had my follow up blood test done 2 weeks ago (6 months) and all my levels except 1 were in the normal range and the one that isn't is very close to being normal. Example- my TTG was >100 at diagnosis, now...
  6. I just watched it- very nice! I'd be interested to hear more about the vaccine they are working on! Interesting at the end asking random people if they have heard of it! I ask people that question a lot and surprisingly a lot of people have heard of it. I hadn't heard of it until I got diagnosed though (well, I should say until I started researching...
  7. My husband loves the Glutino pretzels. I buy him his own bag now!
  8. I was dx'd in September and am just getting over an awful cold. I have not had a cold in years. I wonder if the celiac has anything to do with it? Thanks, Sara
  9. The Rheumatologist that first tested me only ran the TTG and it was positive- I am guessing yours was negative? My GI Dr that did the endo also ran the full celiac panel and 4/5 tests were positive. I have heard that the TTG is one of the most sensitive tests, so maybe that is why they just ran that one.
  10. My symptom happens a few days later and it is a really sharp pain under the left ribcage and sometimes it will wrap around to the side and back. The last time it happened I had been eating Hershey's mini candy bars (maybe 5 a day for a week straight). I thought they were gluten-free and they weren't. It took about a month to have that left sided pain go...
  11. Oh, thanks! That makes sense. I guess that would explain why the IGG levels would be last to come down then. CassP- my dad has type 2, he also has MS. No one has Type 1. I will just have the blood test and see how it turns out before I start to stress! Easier said than done though! I eat pretty healthy and workout a lot, so diabetes would be the...
  12. When I first saw your post I was thinking you were going to ask if you should buy new cooking pans! haha My pain is at the bottom of my left ribcage area, when it is really bad it starts there and goes down the entire left side of my body to right about where my waist is. It is a sharp/stabbing like pain and is awful! It hurts to even lay on my...
  13. Hi All- I was dx'd back at the end of August and started gluten-free 9/1. I had a blood test last week to check levels and I was shocked and how much they'd come down: My TTG IGA used to be over 100, now it is 2.2 (with 4 being positive) My Gliadin IGG was 131, now it is 51 (still positive at above 30, but lower than it was) Gliadin IGA- this is the...
  14. I've never had an issue with bottled water and I drink different kinds all the time.
  15. My TTG # was 38- very similar to your husbands! I had the endoscopy for the final diagnosis- they told me without it they couldn't give me the celiac diagnosis, since the endo is the gold standard. If he has insurance I would have the endo. Did they say why they were doing the CT of abdommen with barium and IV and not a endoscopy? I take Synthroid...
  16. Oh, that makes sense! That was kind of like me, but in reverse! I kept having this really awful pain in my left ribcage. No one ever tested me for celiac in the beginning, but I did get a CT scan. Finally a few months later I was tested for celiac and it was positive! What are your main symptoms?
  17. It is just me and my husband, but he is not gluten free. He eats a lot of bread and cereals. We only cook gluten-free pasta though and all of our cookware is only for gluten-free items.
  18. Why would he want you to have a CT scan? I didn't think that showed celiac? I had a CT scan before I got diagnosed for unexplained pain I was having and it came back normal- I had the endoscopy about 4 months later that was pretty advanced celiac. I am glad the diet is making you feel better!
  19. This line from aeraen sums it up for me: I am one of those who does not get upset at all... in fact, I encourage people to completely forget about it. It makes me uncomfortable when people focus on what I can not eat. For me that is the worst thing, when everyone focuses on it and everyone is quiet and you have to explain what it is. I hate that-...
  20. It's not weird to feel bad about it, but I would not ask the manager to not let people eat things in front of you. Honestly, when people are eating things like that in front me I don't feel bad, I just think this is awesome- it is like a diet for me that I can't slip on! The other nigth I went out and the people I was with ordered all these chicken...
  21. I haven't really encountered that, but to my surprise I have met a lot of people that thought they had it and were tested for it and it was negative. I've also met a lot of people that personally know someone with it. When I first was dx'd I didn't really know what it was or had really ever herad of it. I just knew it was some stomach thing. LOL Yeah...
  22. My Dr told me right after the biopsy that he saw scalloping and that is a sign of celiac, so I find out right away. I got the final pathology report a week later at the follow up appt.
  23. I have celiac and my TTG AB IGA was positive at over 100, but my IGA serum was normal. I didn't have the wheat allergy test. My endoscopy was also positive. My other blood tests that were positive were: GLIADIN PANEL- GLIADIN IGG and IGA ENDOMYSIAL AB IGA I have heard there are false negatives, but not too many false positives. I guess the...
  24. I had enlarged axillary lymph nodes on the left side and that really scared me- that was before the celiac dx. I thought I had lymphoma. I guess it is from celiac, they have gone down, but they were a little over 2cm (there were 2 that were enlarged). I never had an issue with the spleen though.
  25. These are things I snack on during the day at work- gluten-free cereal, greek yogurt (Chobani is good and had a lot of protein), apples with peanut butter, other veggies cut up. I don't really like the gluten-free stuff from Whole Foods either- I was never a bread or pasta person so any of the gluten-free bread stuff is gross to me. I do like the Glutino...
