ARCHIVED Cellulites-has Anyone Had It? Dx Fri Am After High Fevers
jenvan replied to Judyin Philly's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Can you say Overachiever???? No more moving furniture! You may push your progress back... On that note--I would be in danger of doing the same in your position. My mom would have had to come over and clean up the juice stains. (Last time I was really sick that house ended up getting so dirty b/c I was keeping up on it and I "went off" on dh--This house... -

Have you tried the Rice Crunchems, alternative for Chex cereal? They typically aren't in the "mainstream" grocery, but usually at a natural food store, wild oats etc. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Undigested Food
jenvan replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Its not hurting you to eat those foods, so no need to stop eating them. The good thing is that the foods you are having issues with are ones that are typically hard to digest/high in fiber. I would be concerned if other types or most of your food was coming out undigested...which could be a sign of another issue like a pancreatic insufficiency. I guess... -
ARCHIVED Undigested Food
jenvan replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well, I have been gluten-free for about a year and a half and still have undigested food coming through...I think that may continue to some extent, but noticing improvement (which I have) is what's important. I get beans, seeds, sometimes rice... Pre-gluten-free it was worse. I remember a large piece of broccoli coming through looking completely normal... -

jenvan replied to Judyin Philly's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
BTW--I always get really sore throats when I am stuffy and getting drainage. Feel like I'm getting a sinus infection..had a fever for a few days. Did a nasal rinse (was reminded of on the forum)--hope that helps too ! Anywho--no houses yet. We go in two Saturdays on the 8th. I'm hopeful as there are a few more options for us...but a little worried... -

ARCHIVED How Often Do You Meet Other Gluten-intolerant People In Restaurants?
jenvan replied to munchkinette's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Its happened to me a few times... Once was at Risotteria in NYC, so no surprise there! I saw a wife take picture of her husband with his gluten-free beer and breadstick. I said to my mom--"Okay, he has to be a Celiac!" I went over and talked to them for a bit, it was fun. He had celiac disease and they were visiting from Maine. -

ARCHIVED Chronic Anemia
jenvan replied to trents's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
How high did your iron ever get? Since it is so mild, seems chronically so, that perhaps focusing on getting iron via diet might even be enough. It seems like you responded fairly quickly. I was also anemic...for years. My numbers were frighteningly low, so I had an infusion in Feb 05. (After months and months--never responded to iron supplements.) ... -

That is very cool of you to try and accomodate her...more than most do at this point! You could ask for some of her favorite gluten-free products and pick up a few. Also, one of the best and easiest ways to cook gluten-free is to stick with whole foods--meats with homemade marinades and spice rubs, vegetables stirfried, sauteed, steamed, fruits (makes good... -

Open Original Shared Link Above is what I use: Thayer's Slipperly Elm Lozenges, Cherry. They are gluten and dairy free, but I'm not sure about soy. Don't see soy listed on the ingredients though. Ingredients are: Slippery elm bark, dextrose, magnesium stearate, natural cherry flavor, sucrose, vegetable stearine (binder). Sorry your throat is... -

That's great on the pizza--enjoy! It boggle my mind a bit on the Smirnoff--it is the same beverage as in the US? I would think the malt would be in both...as that is pivotal to the beverage itself... -

I pked up some of the broth too--yum. Great deal. This wouldn't be for travel per se, but they also have (can't remember the brand), Taquitos that are labeled Kirkland but made by a name brand. They don't contain gluten. Can anyone remember the brand name? -
Oops--I knew it was months, but wrote weeks for some reason... Duh ! Definitely have hope about the improvement. Also, I recommend just plain natural psyllium husks too if you think the Metamucil isn't as effective. (Even though it contains psyllium I have noticed a difference).

Have you been tested for allergies? Airborne, seasonal ? When I was younger I had horrible allergies that caused sinus infections every few weeks, was miserable... I also rec Tiffany and Dessa's sinus rinse. My allergist recommended it for me. It does help clean things out and prevent infections. You can buy a rinse kit and bottle at CVS too. Just...
