  1. Jennifer, well glad the doc is following up, and that they initiated it on their own. Some celiacs develop liver disease or autoimmune hepatitis, which you could mention, but as I said, majority of levels return to normal.
  2. silver-sounds like your garden is huge! i couldn't pull that off for a while, but hope for a big one and some land some day. and a mini honeycrisp apple orchard too
  3. How seriously low is your iron? There is a chance that the pills will have little effect for you, since your intestines may take a while to heal and begin absorbing. If your levels are very low, an iron infusion is a good option, and one that has immediate results. Also, your fatigue etc. may not be able to be attributed exclusively to your anemia. My...
  4. True Dani. If its not a severe case, a little lactaid can make eating dairy not bad at all for lactose intolerant. Huh, muscle pains...I would think they are unlikely caused by dairy. Tried to keep a journal of the food you eat and your symptoms and when they occur?
  5. I called before my last appt, and will again before my next one. My dentist was able to verify all the products used on me were gluten-free...they had a manual and ingredient list which helped them identify allergens in their products.
  6. Dani--If your doc is talking about gluten intol/Celiac, he is wrong. Lactose intol is different than gluten or casein intol. You should never eat gluten again b/c it will lead to damage. However, if you are lactose intolerant, you may be able to handle dairy again as your villi heal, or you could try lactaid, depending on how bad yours is. Lactose intolerance...
  7. let me know how it goes for you ladies if you try it. one catch...make them up close to serving time (not a day or two in advance). they do dry out sooner than regular rolls. but like i said, they tasted great and had good texture too.
  8. Patti- glad to have you--any canner, crafter, gardener, sewer, cook, etc are welcome here your beds sound very nice. anything favorite things to grow or sew? Christine- i haven't done any raised beds yet, but from what i was reading this month actually, i am thinking about trying it. it seems like a better way actually then the regular bed by...
  9. Shirley-- I have seen those machines--how cool! Those would be so fun to have. Just had a random memory--my grandma would sew quilts (I have several), and used to give to some almish women to do the actually quilting portion. I have a gorgeous quilt my great aunt made---crazy quilt, gorgeous colors, fabrics etc, and she embroidered all over it, family...
  10. Jen it is VERY common for Celiacs to have elevated liver enzymes. I had them for years, yet another clue that was missed. Most of the time, the enzymes return to normal levels with the gluten-free diet. Just make sure a follow-up test is done. Go here to read some more info, study: Open Original Shared Link
  11. Shirley-- I got the hankies from a local antique store. I had some from my grandmothers and an aunt, but decided to keep those out and in my jewelery box instead. They are mostly a linen or cotton, with some embroidery, mostly white or a little lace. I plan to go back and embroider to put some color in it, flowers etc. A few of the hankies have some...
  12. Read this all--got this article in the newsletter about this mannitol test, good summary: https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodid=52
  13. yum, think i'll try those almond cookies!
  14. That is hilarious Lynne! I will definitely take a picture of the runner when I finish it....probably do a picture post sewing and then one post embroidering. elisabet- do you mean homemade tomato paste or glue paste??
  15. I have heard of the test, seems like it is growing in popularity for its ability to measure intestinal effects in individuals w/o classic biopsy or w/o being invasive...
  16. Freeda quintabs, good mix of vitamins and minerals and not hard to swallow.
  17. My rec, do not use a conventional allergist or scratch test for food intolerances. You have several options, get intolerance testing done from a lab (ie. Great Plains (i can give you their info) ), do a rotation diet and keep a food journal. I had testing done, but figured out some biggies, like dairy and soy from keeping a food/symptom journal.
  18. Shirley- cool idea on the celiac party--glad you have found so many celiac disease friends nearby Lynne- reupholstering--that would be fun...although, not fun when it is b/c the furniture is getting torn up! my grandma used to upholster. we have her old antique upholstering hammer... maybe one day i'll use it started sewing my hankie runner this...
  19. I said I would post my dad's sweet roll recipe...he actually used this one below for it. It was good... Go here to see dough recipe: https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodid=931 and this for cinnamon/sweet roll: https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-09106465894.3e
  20. Patti- Uh, I would love to able to stop by clarinex ! Hopefully....
  21. it took me years...from rhemys to psychologist, othropod, chirop, holistic doc, allergist, physical therapist, endocrinologist, 3 gi docs, infectious disease doc, 2 dermatologists, hematologist and several more i'm sure i'm forgetting!
  22. yeah, i've been really disappointed with them too...

  24. Hmm, haven't heard of sores in the nose before... I will say 5 days is really not long enough to notice any difference for some people. I became more tired after going gluten-free for a while. What are your symptoms? Are you sure you are 100% gluten-free. It is common to miss things in the beginning--have you cked products such as shampoo, lotion etc...
