  1. I'm with you...I just can't say it as well as you do. I got CC from soemthing with no gluten in the ingredients but it was made on the same lines as wheat is processed. It sucked. I was so sick. Thanks for posting. Raw and honest.
  2. You are absolutely right about gluten causing anger. I had irrational anger and lashed out for no reason too. I am thrilled for you that you figured this out. Normally I am calm and content but for the gluten years I was a raging B****. Just ask my ex-husband. Wow. Gluten can definitely effect your mood. You are so brilliant to have figured it out. I'm very...
  3. I remember throwing up on my first grade teacher's Christmas present on the school bus and I handed it to her saying, "Merry Christmas, Sorry I threw up on it." and I had stomach aches all the time and laid around as a kid and didn't want to do anything. My family thought I was lazy. I remember if I stayed home from school my mom ignored me because...
  4. It is very difficult to adjust to this new life. I was relieved to know what had been wrong with me all of those years. It takes about 6 months for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder PTSD symptoms to kick in after a particularly stressful event in your life. Especially if you were sick for very long. So the fact that depression is hitting you now is very normal...
  5. Open Original Shared Link I just ran across this article which hits all the main points that have been mentioned. I found it concise and interesting. Many things to try. Open Original Shared Link This one is interesting too.
  6. Kinnickkinnick makes good gluten free donuts. She might not get her Boston Creme, but it's a good donut. Udi's makes great muffins and bread. My son was bummed out at first. He was 15 though. Now he is just fine with it because he feels so much better. You are doing the right thing to be up front with her yet supportive. Sounds like you are doing a really...
  7. Hi there! Welcome. I have Hashimoto's and Celiac DH. But it wasn't diagnosed until I was completely sick for years. I have facial swelling too mostly my upper eyelids. I have wondered if it is my thyroid but I, too, test within normal TSH levels. I don't exactly know what the facial swelling is from. Some days I do not have it. I feel great those days. I...
  8. Yeah, that's about right! It's Paleo without fruit. That's what I'm doing now. Only I still use caffeine...hmmm....how much more can I give up? Check out Mark's Daily Apple.com if ya really wanna get better fast. I didn't really get well until I did that. Mostly good with it. Until I miss chocolate and coffee that is. So I'm Paleo with...
  9. Possible suspects- Gluten-You got rid of this one, good. Dairy- Causes skin problems and acne for many people even if they do not have a hard time digesting it. Iodine- Even if you do not have DH,the skin form of Celiac, some people get acne from iodine. If this is the case you would need to try the thyca.com diet to see if it helps you. Vitamin deficiencies...
  10. Elana's Pantry GlutenFreeGoddess Celiacchicks Just for starters...
  11. I don't know how long it takes to work. But also consider calcium and potassium as potentially interfering with muscle function. All these levels have to be in balance. I had muscle problems including difficulty contracting my muscles and also had heart palpitations before I knew about Celiac. Supplementing helped. It went away slowly but surely. I don't...
  12. I wear two pairs of wool boot socks...in the summer. I'm not kidding. I am freezing all the time. Wool socks are wonderful. I have two wool blankets, a space heater, and if it's really bad and I'm chilled to the bone, I throw a blanket in the dryer and get it good and hot and then wrap up in it. Sometimes if I'm lucky my son will do this for me...
  13. If you do go gluten free...please post back how you are doing. It is inspiring for other's and even for us old-timers. I'm hopeful for you.
  14. Hey Lisa! I was just wondering if you had tried this and if you liked it. Your changes sound great! Ahem...I also put butter on the Turmeric Rice last time...and oh god is that yummy. Mushroom? Why you waiting for heaven? Get out your pot and enjoy it here! It's yummy. I just made a batch with deer meat and beef. So anything goes. It can also be made...
  15. Oh my gosh Tina. If you just found us...keep reading. You have a lot of symptoms of Celiac/Gluten Intolerance too. My nails were brittle and cuticles cracked and bled all my life. One year gluten free and my nails are strong and I have to actually cut them now. That is just one of the benefits of being gluten free. Many other rude, annoying and life destroying...
  16. I'm just realizing it now Mushroom! I considered it once before but then everything seemed to be bothering me. Lectins have got to be part of the reason. Yeah that's probably why meat is the only thing that really agrees with me. While we are on the subject of lectins...let's post the lectin report for others to consider too. Open Original Shared...
  17. We do. Many of us have been there. Unable to get a diagnosis and yet symptoms getting worse and compounding. Depression and anxiety can become very debilitating. You should consider going gluten free very strictly for a 3 month trial and then see how you feel. You may find your own answer. Many of us do not or did not test positively and yet had complete...
  18. gosh yeah, sounds directly related to gluten to me. Try for Celiac testing, but yeah, your symptoms are totally consistent with Celiac/Gluten Intolerance. The neuro symptoms are consistent too. It is very common for symptoms to get worse and then better and sometimes you don't react at all. It is one of the reasons Celiac is so hard to diagnose. Keep considering...
  19. I tried to get a biopsy several times...but all I walked out with was a diagnosis of neurotic excoriation. I would try to get a biopsy if I were you. Maybe your Dr. will be more open-minded. It was maddening, but being one year gluten free has cleared up the "neurotic excoriation"..and the depression and anxiety that went along with it. One thing I will say...
  20. I can't handle beans or lentils at all and I am one year into gluten free. I get sick every time. I started to consider lectins. I never touch tofu and I avoid soy so I'm not sure about digesting that. Nuts are ok for me though strangely enough. That is...unless they have been processed on a line that processes wheat. There are many that are so watch out...
  21. I get sick from eating eggs too. I am more bummed about that than gluten to be honest. I never dreamed a different brand of egg would make any difference at all. But now I will try... cause I sure do like eggs. I'm one year gluten free and hoped it was just temporary, but seems to happen every time I test it. But thanks y'all...cause I wanted another reason...
  22. Ah yes. Extreme Anger, sadness, severe depression and anxiety. I lived it everyday until I learned about Celiac. Now it only happens when I get accidental gluten. It's very scary to deal with because it feels like it will never end. But it will. It will go away when your system is completely clean of gluten. I don't know what can help your indigestion other...
  23. Yes Ma'am...it is pretty authentic. Here is my version. I make a huge pot. 5 pounds of ground beef Shoulder roast cut into 2 inch cubes (I use 3 pounds) One carton Kitchen Basics Chicken Stock. One can tomato paste One pkg Shan Spices (Biryani, Dopiaza, whatever you have, I've tried them all-just read the label because once in a while...
  24. My DH took a full year to heal and I was strictly gluten free. I found reactions from shellfish, iodized salt, benzoates, salicylate, and food coloring. I followed the thyca.com diet to lower iodine. The expert Peter Green says some DH patients take a full 2 years to heal and sometimes reactions can happen even if you are strictly gluten free. Check out salicylate...
  25. So sorry you are going to be sick. Or maybe not. Some people do not react after that long gluten free. Maybe you will get away with it. But if you don't and you get sick, there isn't much you can do. Some things I've read on here are ginger tea, charcoal tablets, drink lots of water, but I can't do the drinking lots of water thing because I swell up and retain...
