  1. Every one is different . My reaction to gluten is D starting at about 26-28 hours after exposure. Then the rest of the fun begins .The muscle aches, fatigue, DH , loss of balance and other wonderful reactions can hang around for a long time. I would wonder about the bananas.
  2. No I dont, not from gluten. Actually, once I got a head rush ( like a high) when I bit into a Twizzlers . I did not realize until to late that the first (or second I dont remember) ingredient is wheat flour .But I do not feel ill instantly. For me , with gluten, it takes about 28 hours before I feel the effects . But if I ingest soy or corn I react instantly...
  3. Agreed My PCP( whom I have since fired ) said my thyroid was within normal range .When I INSISTED (putting it politely)on seeing an endocrinologist the first thing they did was an ANA and an antibody test for hashimito's. My antibody testing ( for hashimitos) came back thur the ceiling. 998.76 with normal being < 10.10
  4. Having a positive ANA is not unusual for someone with any autoimmune disease but I would ask has your doc done an ANA test?, have they tested you for other autoimmune disease like Hashimoto's? ** edit to add** I just saw you have had a thyroid "work up" and biopsy ,, Negative for hashimito's and graves??
  5. When my CT scan showed stool in my intestines and colon The doc was referring to excess stool hiding in small pockets on the wall of my intestines and colon. Getting clarification from your doc can be next to imposable ( I know ) but maybe a talk with him may help ( I can hope cant I )

  12. I agree he should have all the celiac testing before going gluten free. And ( after going gluten free ) have other testing done to be sure what else ( if anything ) is going on. I felt the same way I wanted to make sure there was nothing else going on,, truth is celiacs rarely stands alone,, there are other Autoimmune diseases that go hand and hand...
  13. I am not "officially" diagnosed with Gluten ataxia, I went gluten free before my neurologist could make an "official" diagnoses, but as far as she and I are concerned I have gluten ataxia. Many of my symptoms have resolved since going gluten free but some of the damage may be permanent .
  14. This ↑ is the truth your brother needs to hear. Many of us can tell him our storys,( if he really wants to hear it have him PM me I will be glad to tell him my story ) but " just try the damn diet" is all he really needs to hear. If he is not convinced have him Google "gluten ataxia" that may get his attention.

  17. I did do a quick search, most of the threads were over a year old or no one answered or the people responding were stressing the benefit of eating real food instead of using protein supplements. I eat real food but I just do not seem to be able to get my protein intake up to where my RD wants it .
