  3. Congratulation squirmingitch , Your story is very similar to mine. I walked in My doc's office with every test result I could get my hands on and a 4 inch thick folder of medical records . I was numb at first when he CALMLY looked at me and said " you are celiac" but later there were MANY MANY other emotions. The validation is bitter sweet sometimes...
  4. My GI said as a celiac I was at risk microscopic colitis . I have had the colonscopy and the biopsies done.

  7. My ANA came back positive. I was negative for lupus but my hashimoto's antibodys were thru the roof. GET A COPY OF YOUR LAB RESULTS!!!! ,,* sorry to yell but it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IMPORTANT to get a copy of your lab results ** Look at the lab results and talk to your doc about them.

  11. The first episode of (what I now know is) DH that I remember I was 15 years old .The first "problems" (as my stepmother would call them ) I can remember I was age 8. I was not "officially" diagnosed until I was 54. That is A LOT of time between first symptoms and diagnose
  12. Validating what he is feeling is important . Many of us went for years with doctors and others making us feel like the pain/symptoms were not real, that it was all in our heads. So letting him know you understand and believe him is important. At the same time his symptoms are not a free pass from school. Unless he has vomiting /uncontrollable diarrhea...

  16. I have been gluten free since 2009 and soy free since 2010 . I just recently reintroduced gluten free oats. I reacted so strongly it took me two weeks to even begin to function again. I am a celiac that can not eat oats. I also do not tolerate most grains. I can rotate corn in my diet occasionally but not on a daily basis . The only grain I eat on a regular...
  17. Nightshades are an issue for some whom are celiac. Nightshades , most especially white potatoes, can be inflammatory to most people (celiac or not).
  18. Since soy is in so many products ,, similar to wheat,, maybe that alone should set of warning bells for all of us. Personally, soy is as disastrous ,if not more so ,, for my body as gluten. Being vegetarian may require more though and planning without gluten and soy in the meal plan but it is most definitely possible( as long as you tolerate legumes...
  19. I use livestrong. I am sure there may be better ones out there but I was on that site tracking calories before I was diagnosed and have just stuck with it because most of the foods I eat are in the data base.
  20. I was vegan / vegetarian for most of my adult life. Once diagnosed and I had to give up gluten and soy ( I am intolerant) I was eating close to paleo. But my body does not digest meals well at all so I am coming back the other way closer to vegetarian again Each of us has to find what work for our bodys. And once we do that may eventually change ...
  21. Hang in there guys, It does get better. This ride has a lot of ups and downs, some times it is two steps forward and three steps back, but give your body what it needs and it will heal . ((( HUGS)))

  23. Have you checked any medications you take? Are you still eating dairy ? Do you live in a gluten free house or do you share it with gluten eaters ?
  24. My previous PCP ( I fired her ) told me my elevated bilirubins were normal , nothing to be concerned about. But the day I turned jaundices and went to the ER I decided not to listen to her My GI doc suggested that for me it may be gilbert's syndrome because my liver enzymes are still at a reasonable level but we are watching them closely.
  25. That may be true but I react with D if I consume to many . But , for me,it happens with most fruits so it may be the fructose .
