  1. My first response to your question was "because they are idiots" but that is not entirely true. Not educated about celiacs is probably closer to the truth. BUT there is also an arrogance about them being right and the patient not knowing what they are talking about that also comes into play. I was first diagnosed with IBS at age 20( the first of many...

    ARCHIVED What Kind Of Doctor

After I replied I realized that this is a very old thread
  3. I have an explosive reaction to spinach. I would suggest that your reaction may be to something other than gluten.
  4. Peanut butter and jelly on toasted Udi's bread and a cup of tea ** I am reintroducing peanuts into my diet
  5. I was gluten free for about 8 or 9 months when it became very clear that I had other intolerances
  6. At my illest I was intolerant of most everything. But remember I was undiagnosed for 40+ years. I was/am gluten free (of course). I am still soy free as soy is as great of an issue as gluten for me. I have attempted to reintroduce nightshades but am only able to tolerate very small amounts of potato flour in baked products. So other than very small amount...
  7. There are different ways to do an elimination diet, One way is to eliminate the top 8 food allergens ( and all foods that contain them) from your diet and then slowly reintroduce them to judge your reaction . the top 8 being Milk Eggs Peanuts Tree nuts (such as almonds, cashews, walnuts) Fish (such as bass, cod, flounder)...
  8. Get a copy of them to be sure. I dont know about the UK but in the US we are able to get a copy of our test results upon request . Just because the receptionist thinks they are "OK" doesnt make it so. Make sure by looking at them your self.
  9. Eggs did this to me ,a constant burning in the back of my throat. Has she been checked for allergys ??

Hopefully you will be able to get some answers from your doc's. If not you may want to consider a (very) strict elimination diet. Feel free to message me if you have any questions about doing an elimination diet .
  11. If it is DH ,along with being gluten free, restricting your iodine intake will be helpful.
  12. Your blood work came back positive you have celiac's even if there is not enough damage yet to have a positive biopsy. The endoscopy it self is not bad at all , for me the hardest part was the waiting Welcome to the forums, great group of people here
  13. if udi's breads make your D worse ,have you considered you may have issues with eggs?? Just asking because when I was at my sickest eggs were a MAJOR issue. And to answer you original question,, yes I have scars from my DH
  14. Soy is as sneaky or sneaker than gluten. It is in most everything processed and hidden well in many products. Mayo, salad dressing, most canned tuna, chips, chocolate ,gluten free Bisquick, many gluten free mixes, gluten free flours and breads, meat products like lunch meats, hot dogs and pepperoni, ect can contain soy. Honestly it was harder for me to eliminate...
  15. The exception to this is soy oil , My understanding is that any vegetable oil can be soy oil and does NOT have to be labeled as such.
  16. My suggestion would be ; no matter how well you know the bride and groom or how much you trust the restaurant or chef ,take your own food. I was severely gluten at MY DAUGHTERS wedding recently. Even after talking to the chef and being reassured he would take every precaution my daughters and my gluten free meal was nothing like decided on when we talk...
  17. I would be interested in any egg, soy, gluten free dessert recipes
  18. Most doctors will not refer you to an endocrinologists if they read the lab test as normal.Your testing is "within range" as your doc would say. If you have concerns (and insurance) making an appointment with an endocrinologist would be you next step. Hashimoto's is an autoimmune disease and is prevalent in people with celiac's
  19. What is the range your lab uses??? Have you or your sister been tested for Hashimoto's?
  20. While I understand and respect the suggestion of (after a period of grieving ) adopting another dog I also feel that in my case that will not happen. My BEST buddy Gabe is 11 and has health issues. MY heart breaks just thinking about the day I will lose him.I have decided that once he is gone I will not have another dog.I have kittys and while not the...

  24. yes I agree . Sounds like my reaction to soy also. The last time I ingested any amount of soy I ended up in the ER.
  25. I have Celiac's and Hashimoto's. I had a positive ANA in May of this year.A breakdown of the testing showed negative for Lupus. My endocrinologist feels the positive ANA was because my Hashimoto antibodys were over 900 at that time. I am retesting in Nov. So to me it would stand to reason that if your Celiac antibodys were high enough it could cause...
