  1. It is common for someone who is celiac or gluten intolerant to have other intolerances or allergys. Some of the more common intolerances are to dairy, soy, corn, nightshades(potatoes, tomatoes ,peppers ,eggplant ect..) .Every one is different. Sometimes as the gut heals the secondary intolerances resolve . For some ,if not most of us, something triggered...
  2. 40+ years of misdiagnoses ,unnecessary /ineffective treatments, unnecessary surgerys and procedures, doing spinal tap for MS,doctors telling me it was all in my head, psychiatrist wanting to drug me, ect.... the whole time becoming more and more ill.... Finely a dear friend told me about this web site ,I came here and read and asked questions and...
  3. Grilled cheese sandwich!!!!!! ( on gluten free bread of course )OMG It was sooooooooooo good
  4. As the above poster states ,It may be tempting to go gluten free now but try to wait until your testing is completed. Consider deciding now if you want to have an endoscopy done regardless of your test results. Then as soon as your testing is done(no matter what the results are) go gluten free, it will help!!! Also once gluten free try to watch your iodine...
  5. how long have you been gluten free?? Is your multivitamin gluten free? Sticking with whole foods at first is a good idea then later adding processed food slowly ( to make sure you can tolerate them) at the VERY minimum you need to have your vitamin D and B checked along with checking to see if your anemic. If your doc wont do it find a doc that will...
  6. My symptoms are about 80% neurological with very few digestive symptoms.Honestly, I can deal with the digestive symptoms but the neurological symptoms are horrendous. When I first went gluten free my neurological symptoms improved but it was not until l went soy and nightshade free that they totally resolved. Now the only time I have symptoms is when...
  7. Things to consider: How long is it going to take you to get an appt. with your GI doc. and how long will it take him to schedule your endoscopy. Being gluten free even for a couple of weeks could cause a false negative. To do a gluten challenge you need to consume the equivalent of 3 to 4 slices of bread daily for at least 3 months and even then...
  8. I go back and forth,, some times I crave salt and other times I am sooooo super sensitive to salt that I can not stand even the tiniest amounts I have thyroid issues ,,, hypothyroid and hashimotos,,,
  9. are you sure
  10. With eating mostly meats, fish ,veggies most of your energy will come from fats ((instead of carbs that were your energy source when you were eating gluten)).If you can tolerate nuts try increasing your consumption of "good" fats to get your energy level up.
  11. Where's the like button ??and waiting for the recipe
  12. My understanding is that 3 to 4 months of eating the equivalent of 3 to 4 slices of bread a day is needed for a gluten challenge. Even then some of us test "negative" for celiac's. This is why it is so very important to be tested before going gluten free. But of course doctors don't tell us that
  13. I laughed when I read this but honestly it is very close to the truth at my house I live alone (except for my dog and two cats)My whole house (including my pets) is gluten free. I will not have it in my house. I would not allow someone to bring poison in to my house ,,,,gluten is poison to me . As to cleaning up after gluten,,,My understand...
  14. I never would have thought to try that I do love maple syrup on my pork sausage so it sounds like something I would enjoy
  15. Yes it is possible to have celiac's and not be able to eat gluten free products,if you are super sensitive to gluten. Gluten free does NOT necessarily mean 100% gluten free. Often other intolerances and /or allergys go along with celiac's. Some things to consider are ; do those gluten free products have soy in them? could you be sensitive to soy...

    ARCHIVED Endocrinologist

My new endocrinologist on my first visit tested my thyroid function ( I have hypothyroidism) but also tested for Lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, hashimoto thyoiditis, graves disease, diabetics, and renal function among others. The kind of tiredness you are describing happens for me when my thyroid is off. I agree with your mom, a visit to an endocrinologist...
  18. I agree Soy is evil If your planing on doing a gluten challenge be sure all the soy is out of your diet first .
  19. I have celiac's and I have a intolerance to soy and nightshades .It is very possible to have more than one intolerance . I had allergy testing and came back negative for an allergy to soy but my body reacts SEVERELY when I ingest soy. You say you felt better after going gluten free. Instead of doing a gluten challenge why not do a soy challenge. Eliminate...
