  1. Being gluten free and a vegan can be done. Unfortunately with additional intolerances ( soy, legumes, nightshades) it is not possible for me,at this point. We do what we need to do to have a healthy body.
  2. In addition to being gluten free, going soy free may be helpful. Has your doc checked your vitamin levels (especially D and B12)?? Did your doc check you for Graves disease???
  3. Gluten free ,Soy free and time did it for me. The healing was slow but steady.
  4. This is my favorite vegan recipe site Open Original Shared Link
  5. Can you eat meat and rice??? When I was at my sickest I would brown ground lamb then take plain cooked white rice and (kinda) stir-fry them together. It was ,and still is, my safest meal. It seemed like forever (in actuality it was only about 3 weeks) before I could eat anything more.
  6. I agree. Cut the carbs increase the protein. (but always talk to your doc about any dietary / insulin changes first,, I was surprised when doing some research to learn that diabetics is an autoimmune disease edited** to add I did not realize what an old thread this was when I responded *** sorry
  7. I would suggest going totally gluten free. Sounds as if you could be celiac or at the very least gluten intolerant. Being gluten lite would effect any type of testing so some of your choices are : go back on gluten fully (the equivalent 3 to 4 slices of bread daily for 3 months) so you can be tested, or have genetic testing done to see if you...
  8. I would suggest at least 8 weeks gluten free before doing a challenge. If you have withdraw symptoms it can take 6 to 8 weeks for the withdraw to end. For me soy is as much of an issue ,,if not more,, as gluten. I have digestive issues with gluten but major neurological issues with soy.
  9. Have you discussed with your wife the possibility of her and the kids going gluten free at home??. She could (of course ) have gluten foods away from home. Let her know that she and the kids may be making you ill .
  10. When I eat amaranth I get pains in the middle of my chest,,feels like i am having a heart attack. Totally isolated to amaranth . Quinoa upsets my stomach no matter how well I rinse it .
  11. When I click on "View New Content" I get a blank gray page. Thanks Peter, I will check the version of foxfire I have installed maybe I need to update it .
  12. I normally use Foxfire as my internet server, but the last few days I have not been able to view the board or my messages using Foxfire. When I use internet explore it works fine Is any one else having this issue??
  13. My house,My rules, NO gluten! Even my pets are gluten free, if that makes me OCD so be it. I am super sensitive, I have to take care not to get CC in the rest of the world ,but my home is a safe place .
  14. true or you could be someone that damage is done in a way that the current testing can not pick up. For some of us damage is done to the villi ,some of us it is the skin (DH) ,some of us it is the brain(gluten ataxia)or the "wonderful" combo of all three Bottom line: if gluten makes you feel ill, avoid it.
  15. My neurologist diagnosed me with ataxia awhile back but did not make the gluten connection until after I was diagnosed with hashimotos and celiacs and I had a lot of my symptoms resolve after going gluten free. I still have not been able to convince them ( my GI and Neurologist) that soy also causes neurological symptoms for me. ,, If your blood...
  16. Our bodys use carbs and/or fats for energy . as a runner you need energy. When you ate more grains you got your energy from carbs. Now that you are eating lower carbs you need to get your energy from fats. Try adding good fats to your diet .
  17. I agree that there is no reason to do an ANA with a celiac panel but with a diagnoses of or symptoms of autoimmune diseases ( such as hashimoto's and celiac's) some doctors will run an ANA as a precaution. My endocrinologist does an ANA as part of the initial workup on new patients ( along with celiac panal,RA,hashimotos, vitamin D Levels, renal function...

    ARCHIVED Help Please!

I would go to the doctor or ER, just to make sure nothing else is going on. THEN I WOULD GO TOTALLY GLUTEN FREE!!
  19. were these the only tests you had done?? did your doc run an ANA also?? If you had a positive ANA that would be a reason for your doc to send you to a rheumatologist.
  20. I would also suggest you have your doc check your vitamin D in addition a full thyroid panel.Even if your thyroid panel comes back "with in normal limits " I would insist on a referral to an endocrinologist.
  21. this link should answers her questions. Open Original Shared Link My endoscopy was one of the easiest test I have ever had done. I slept thur mine, after I went home took a nap and then had lunch.I had no pain not even a sore throat.
  22. this is the ingredient list for ore-ida sweet potato fries from their web site Ingredients List SWEET POTATOES, CANOLA OIL MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, RICE FLOUR, TAPIOCA DEXTRIN, SEA SALT, LEAVENING (SODIUM ACID PYROPHOSPHATE, SODIUM BICARBONATE), XANTHAN GUM, ANNATTO (COLOR), DISODIUM SODIUM ACID PYROPHOSPHATE. maybe it has the canola oil I reacted to...
