  2. Even after all this time gluten free I keep it very very simple. I stick with mostly paleo/ simple ( meaning very few basic ingredients ) recpies I am intolerant of so many things buying pre mixed flours is not an option Food for life organic rice tortillas are about as fancy as I get Do I miss bread/pastrys /ect... some times but my reaction...
  3. In my quest to find out what was wrong with me I saw both a GI doc and an allergist. With hives I would consider an allergist the first step.You could to be allergic to wheat/gluten. An allergy to wheat / gluten ( as any allergy )can be life threatening .
  4. I was diagnosed with gilberts back in 2011 I did not have gene testing done until Dec of 2013 for gilberts ( among other things) at which time the gilberts was confirmed. . The most important thing is to rule out anything ( other than gilberts ) that is causing your high bilirubins . The reason I mentioned your copper levels is some of us with gilberts...

  8. At one point in my wonderful journey I also thought I was intolerant of rice . I quit eating it for a bit then switched to lundberg organic basmati brown rice and have no issues with it.

  10. Personally ,I found a ketogenic diet was not sustainable.You can eat gluten free without restricting your carbs to that degree. Eating paleo is a good example. I would not recommend a ketogenic diet to any one . But we are all different and we all have to find what works for us
  11. that is a really good question frieze. Maybe a second test to verify is in order . dartminia2002, you say you are on a strict keto diet ,, medical reasons?. Have you started any new meds in the past few months?

  14. You may want to consider eliminating any prepared gluten free products ( such as gluten free breads, mixes ,products made in shared facilitys ect...) and stick with a whole foods diet. In the US prepared foods that have a gluten free label are still permitted to have a small amount of gluten . This trace amount may not effect most celiacs but those who...

  17. Yeap this sux Take a very deep breath and know that we do understand Give your self a break , you are not going to be perfect . It takes time and even then we make mistakes. When you are ready to go gluten free ( after all your testing is done ) try to stick to whole foods. Ask many questions . Oh and .... Soy is evil , EVIL I say My reaction...

  19. Yes hashimotos and graves' are both auto-immune disease of the thyroid . (typically ) hashimotos is hypothyroid and graves is hyperthyroid .
  20. I have thyroid issues ( hashimotos possibly crossing into graves' ) am on meds /have my thyroid checked every three months. To my knowledge ( and I get copies of every test I have ) I have never had my iodine levels checked
  21. If you are going to have any testing for celiacs Do not stop eating gluten until your testing is complete . That said ... I had active DH lesions well into my second year gluten free.The fact that I was undiagnosed for an extremely long time and am super sensitive are major factors that contributed to this I am sure .

  23. I have seen a dietitian twice once for celiacs and once for diabetes. When I saw her for my diabetes she was helpful,, not so for celiacs
  24. As someone with DH, the idea of intentionally placing iodine on my skin makes me shudder
