  1. The rice I understood being that it is a high glycemic carb. The peanut butter was suckers natural ingredients were just peanuts and salt . I did a trial with just plain peanuts and since have eliminated peanuts altogether . Yes my BS readings were very low with dairy.Scary low I guess if I was not absorbing the dairy it could have caused...
  2. Intolerances and blood sugar issues ,, a connection ?? Recently I was diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia. I have been tracking my blood sugar levels for awhile now. Interesting ( to me anyway ) is how my blood sugar levels reacts to different foods. In particular how my blood sugar levels reacted to foods that I had been questioning ( wither...
  3. I have seen it suggested but fail to find any evidence to support the suggestion.that going gluten free will control hashimotos. I have been STRICTLY gluten free for 3 1/2 years and my hashimotos still progresses. The suggestion may come about because so many celiacs ( an autoimmune disease ) also have hashimotos ( an autoimmune disease ) just...
  4. Your TSH is not a good indicator of whether or not you have hashmoitos ,, but unfortunately most doc do JUST a TSH and go no further . Ask for the TG AB and the TPO AB ( stomp your feet a bit if you have too to get the testing you need )
  5. yes those are the tests you will want to ask your doc to run. After being gluten free for almost 2 years my testing results were; TG AB was 36.94 normal range is <28.70 my TPO AB was 998.76 normal range being < 10.10
  6. I was strictly gluten free for about two years when I got my hashimotos diagnoses .Being gluten free will not cause a false negative when being tested for hashimotos .
  7. For some of us eliminate just gluten is enough , for some of us it takes more to be healthy. Have you kept a food journal? I agree with the suggestion of elimination soy and corn 'completely ' to see if those are the possible cause .
  8. That does not surprise me at all,,,,saddens me but does not surprise me
  9. I have had to give up sooooooooooooo very many foods that some one ,some where must have decided I would break if I lost coffee permanently. Coffee , dairy and eggs are 3 foods I have been able to add back ( can I get a hellaluya !! ) I a good cup of coffee
  10. dilettantesteph said:You can also take medications for symptom control if you don't wish to change your diet. There are over the counter medications that you can try, or your primary care physician can suggest others."" The issue I have with this suggestion is ; if you are still symptomatic , damage is still occurring inside your body...
  11. The malnourishment I suffer before my elimination diet was killing me. So eating foods that my body could actually absorb ,, even though very limited in my selection ,, saved my life . Removing those foods I was intolerant of allowed my body to utilizes the foods it could actually absorb and allowed my body to heal so that I could eventually add some...
  12. I found going organic resolved a lot of my issues . Meaning that it was the pesticides ,waxes ,additives and fertilizers I was reacting to rater then the food its self . Buying local organic fresh foods has made alot of foods tolerable. Winter is tough but we deal ** just to add ** certain foods are off my consumable list permanently,,, meaning...
  13. Yeap those complications of celiacs will get ya. As you said ( no disrespect to those who are just gluten free) for some of us being just gluten free would ( at this point in my journey ) be a 'walk in the park'
  14. I agree with pricklypear1971 get a second opinion. Most GP's do not have enough of an understanding of thyroid issues to be of much help. I also do not like to take medications and will avoid meds if at all possible ,,BUT ( for me ) my thyroid meds are necessary .
  15. I actuality quit drinking coffee and tea about a month before my elimination diet super scary I know . It took me that whole month to get over the headaches . I wanted my head / body clear of the coffee before I started my elimination diet.I did not drink coffee AT ALL during my elimination diet That was a very very long 6 months with out any coffee...
  16. bartfull, (((((HUGS)))))
  17. When my blood sugar is very very low, my gums and/or lips get tinglely / kind of numb sensation ( some times even the tip , just the tip,of my nose ,, soooooo very annoying )
  18. true dat ! For those of us with thyroid issues and DH it becomes a wonderful ( sarcasm ) balancing act
  19. You are not 100% gluten free if you are eating out. There is no way to control a restaurant kitchen and/ or staff. As mentioned above ,, you also may want to consider other intolerances , such as dairy and soy, may be contributing to your villi atrophy . Doing a STRICT elimination diet ( as you mentioned ) is overwhelming and (as I know 1st hand...
  20. While I agree with kareng that diabetes is a very serious medical condition ,,, home testing ( with reporting the results to your doctor )is IMHO the best way to be aware of what is happening with your blood sugar levels .Many diabetics may have been able to ( at least ) delay diabetes IF they had been aware earlier that there may be an issue and they...
  21. Some times those of us that have "been around the block" a few times can get caught in a dilemma as to how much or little to say. Say too much I may terrify a newbie , say too little I may not share information/an experience that may be helpful. Most of time I tend to error on the side of caution and say little. most times . Living with celiac...
  22. My neurological symptoms ( including ataxia ) were causes by ingesting soy .
  23. My diet is very restrictive,, I only use ( a good ) olive oil and occasionally real butter . ** just a note on the vit E, If you continue to have problems you may want to consider losing the soy oil*
  24. This is also how I took the original post but I have a very dark sense of humor
  25. I saw my endo yesterday,,,, First let me say I ♥ that woman ! She so gets (understands) me Reactive Hypoglycemia , yep and of course she wants to know why. She is doing more tests ( of course ) because she has to rule out anything nasty before we move on . But do these doc's live in the same world we do ?? Her suggestion that I eat every 2...
