  1. I think we can agree that banks (with call centres in Mumbai!), computers, mobile phone companies AND 12 year old boys are EVIL!!!!!!! ...yes, I am a very angry Mummy with said son who would try the patience of a saint!!!...and I would like to throttle him like Homer does Bart (probably not advisable, but would give me great satisfaction!! ) ...
  2. My husband has been seeing a haemotologist for low platelets (but that's another story!! ) but at his appt this week the doc remarked that he has consistently had high triglycerides for some time now - although no other doc up to now had mentioned it.He's done another 'fasting lipid ' test. Hubby has a good diet, rarely drinks and has no family history...
  3. Welcome Gazza!! Glad you found your way here!! I gather you are in England as you mention the supermarket Morrison's??? (I am in London). I'm sorry you've been so unwell You have my full sympathies as my husband was also housebound and somedays bedridden before his diagnosis of coeliac disease - he was very ill. You are probably...
  4. Hey Vincent!!!!!! It's great to here from you!! - (I missed your posts! ) I had no idea you and your family have been going through such a tough time, it must have been REALLY tough.......but I am so glad you've come through it - and getting everything back in order in your lives Sometimes I think the hard times make the bond stronger with...
  5. Thanks for the great jokes guys !!!!! (Bev, I LOVE your uncle!! ) We're off tonight to see West End show Mary Poppin's with the kids.....so it's only appropiate that I post a (clean) joke about her It seems that Mary Poppins has moved to California. She has started a business telling people's fortunes. But, she doesn't read palms or...

  10. I've just booked our family holiday for Turkey (although we we're not going to be near Istanbul) which will be in August..... so I'll let you know!!!! ...but I have heard it's quite easy to eat out for a coeliac there (must print off a restaurant card in Turkish)
  11. ..but do you shave ( ), pluck, or wax???? I must admit to occasionally pinning down hubby to pluck the ridiculously long stray ones - (eldest son won't let me......Wuss!!! )
  12. Hee-hee These are of course all true!! ..but these in particular made me laugh as I know my kids think like this
  13. LOL!! ...oh, they are just excellent!!!!! ...but the real test would be a loaf of rock hard EnerG gluten-free bread....now...will it blend???
  14. Beautiful photos - but none of you Steve??? (..and why are you banned from Prik prize photos dare I ask? )
  15. I found Open Original Shared Link interesting article about premature greying hair. I know it's often linked with vitiligo (unpigmented patches of skin) which my coeliac son has, so I'm assuming it's an 'auto-immune' thing
  16. An excellent idea! (to flush for world peace) ..but can I just say I disapprove of flushing whilst still sitting LOL! ....and reading as well (of course everyone has their own toilet etiquette ) ...and who knew there was a Open Original Shared Link?..says nothing about reading though - must just be me

    ARCHIVED Negative Blood Test?

Was you still eating gluten at the time of your tests?? Another blood test sometimes used in the coeliac panel is the Anti-Endomysial (Ema). Also a Total Serum IgA should be run because if you have a condition called IgA deficiency you do not produce enough anti-bodies to get a positive on the bloods. Be aware you CAN have negative blood tests...
  18. Nice one 'Aunt Mel' ! ....I often wondered these things too..
  19. I have nothing scientific to add in this ...um ... rather odd thread..but... LOL!! Oh my goodness, yes! I remember that summer of '76 and the roads melted!! ..and I LOVE the smell of car exhaust fumes!

  21. We have a UK version here called 'Strictly come dancing' and I absolutely loved it!!!!!!! Some of the best contestants (stars) have been big burley sportsmen, and I'm alway's amazed when it turns out they have a real talent to dance gracefully!! Heather Mills is constantly being slated in the press here and is not very popular at all
  22. Ahhhh - ain't she great - wish I had a granny like that ...Now what about at a wedding ...or (*sniff*)
  23. Hee - hee!! Dear lord!!! The crazy summer of 06 in the OMG thread!!
  24. Mrs Lady, Definition of celiac disease is villous atrophy (or blunted villi) so regardless of your negative bloodwork you do infact have celiac disease.Unfortunately your doctor is terribly uninformed. Many people here (including my husband) have negative bloodwork - but get a definitive diagnosis of celiac disease through an endoscopy with biopsies...
  25. Another ingredient gums nearly always have is Sorbitol which can cause the dreaded 'd' (coeliac or otherwise)
