  1. I agree. After I was misdiagnosed for my entire life, and I FIGURED IT OUT MYSELF, I said to my new GI doc, "seriously? I may as well have had a GIANT RED ARROW pointing down to my head Glowing Celiac! Celiac! Celiac!" and he said: "I'm sorry. I see it ...and I cannot apologize enough for my profession." This is not about how long we all went...
  2. Sorry, peeps! .....but there comes a time when even the most "oh honey" type response, like you will get from me will eventually become....... WTF! this is your life! Knock it off! The treatment for celiac is a gluten-free diet . It is not a huge burden to be gluten-free! It is a huge burden to be disabled, in a wheelchair, brain damaged and full...
  3. YOU HAVE CELIAC ! and Yes, if you cheat, SORRY but you are not very smart. There, I said it. So, STOP IT!!! well said, GEM....and here is what I say.. You Cheat , You gonna die. AMEN, K...
  4. Amen, sister! all of it. Ditto , ditto ....and amen, sister!

  6. (snort) onesies.... and you are adorable! You're trying to to use up all that glorious Stilton, aren't you?!! Kudos!! (do NOT try to use it in a smoothie.. ) What. She. Said.
  7. Jammies it is. Man, first I learn I weigh myself incorrectly, then I learn I dress all wrong. What's next? DO NOT ANSWER THAT you WISE MONKEYS.....that was rhetorical! I think SKILisa is calling it her " Holy crap, I'm awake! anniversary!" and it's cause for celebration (and I know she likes these emoticons) Have a wonderful celebration...
  8. I agree with Karen. Any newly DXed person is going to see this poll and think "Hell yeah! Gimme the drugs and gimme back my bagels, dude!" Me? Hell no. Eat gluten again? no thanks; I already almost died once.
  9. On that note, we're having PIZZA tonight: throwing on some olives, shallots, portabellas, roasted toms and garlic, proscutto, arugula and 3 CHEESES I'm going for broke. Tight pants be damned.
  10. Starting the New Year How to properly weigh yourself (this is according to our wise SYLVIA) Can't believe I've been doing it incorrectly all these years!
  11. mission accomplished then..... cuz If you ain't laughing, you ain't feeling better, toots..
  12. okay, I just have to give props to Shroom for using "opprobrium" in a rant. .........just . so . cool beans
  13. I do not know your health history or your other health conditions, hon so I cannot even begin to try to give you any thoughts. I do not know how long you have been gluten-free either. "store bought gluten-free foods" --are not really "plain foods". They are a mix of carbs and starches. They cause bloat in me for sure. I am not saying they are not safe...
  14. Coconut aminos are a blessing to those of us who cannot do soy!!!. (I still cannot do soy) I'm sorry, but there is no real decent sub for a tomato in a standard tomato- based recipe. I know, I tried. (could not have toms for a year or so ) My culinary life sucked for a long time. I could not swallow dozens of food groups (citrus was a big one) without...
  15. I feel sorry for any celiac who chooses to ignore the only treatment available for this life-threatening disease. It's not rocket science and it's not that horrible. We're lucky we have a treatment for our AI disease that does not require drugs. I used to get pissed off at the "cheaters" but now, I just think "well, it's your life and your choice". But...
  16. You know what I always say, babes..."Every year is a healing year." You have come this far and next year, there will be even more progress. I promise! I did not believe it myself 2 years ago, but here I am. Those of us who come back from the walking dead are survivors, warriors and tough broads indeed. Your sharp sense of humor was one of the first...
  17. hi Guys. Just so you know-- the original poster, Menquet has not been active on the board since July 2011 and may not see your responses to her. But you can still talk with each other, of course. Just wanted you to know (in case she does not reply to your helpful responses).
  18. yes....but this just brings this convo back to our original thought. If we all just lived in our cottages in the gluten-free compound, we'd be able to graze from house to house every day.
  19. Margaritas coming up! I love that J used bacon on the nachos. cool idea! . I put bacon in some chicken quesadillas recently.yum. I LOVE LOVE LOVE black beans. Did I ever share the black bean and turkey chili recipe on here? very good stuff. CKip, I had to give up tomatoes --and all citrus ---for a year (that really sucked) and I found them hard...
  20. Oh man, K---that sounds LUSCIOUS.....what time should I be there? I can make margaritas or sangria. Sounds like total party food to me. After Karen's we'll hit your place. I was making Veal marsala and Risotto Milanese and sauteed chard, but now, I am not so sure. I want what you're all having. Last night, I made "everything...
  21. Agree! Cuervo 1800 --very good stuff. First time I ever tried tequila--it was this one. That was back in the 1920's I had a margarita tonight . I made it with Corazon blanco..100% agave ...it was yum.
  22. Distilled spirits are safe. If not, I'd be dead by now. I have tried the potato vodka, but it's not likely to be in a bar well speed rack for making mixed drinks. I have had Smirnoff and Stoly without any issues. Rum is safe Agave tequila is good! --ask for Jose Cuervo Especial Silver (blanco) Most bars carry that.
  23. Me too! (and I gave one to someone as well) Glad you forwarded that email to skiing Santa! I was wondering if he received it on the slopes.
