  1. Could be some CC occurred? It will pass, hon. Hang in there!!
  2. Everyone heals at different rates. Some people notice this brain fog clearing out right away because it IS a direct result of ingesting gluten and so, once they stop eating it, they see it improve right away. Others take longer because of various reasons, like vitamin or mineral deficiencies or other health issues. I am mostly clear now after 6 months, but...
  3. Fran, I am happy yo hear you got through the procedure and the ducts are clear. I know you were worried about that--but see, your warrior princess spirit pulled you through! That's good news for you, yes? Okay, onto the next step. If I were you, I would be very insistent you get things going. You have every right to want to resolve this immediately. You...
  4. Honey, do NOT feel guilty about what others do. It is THEIR behavior that is WRONG, not yours. Stand firm. Stay healthy and eat what keeps you feeling well! Just say firmly...I appreciate your concern, but the evidence speaks volumes. What does your Mum say about all this? Perhaps she could speak up on your behalf.
  5. Genetic test is positive, a first and second-degree relative with celiac disease, B-12 and folate deficiency (very common in celiac) and good results with dietary compliance? These may be enough for your GP to make a diagnosis if you feel like you need something on "paper". Ask him? Can you get a copy of the test that was "higher than normal"? What...
  6. (((((HUG))))) Sorry you're having a rough go right now. (I can relate!) Hope things get better for you soon!
  7. Celiac is greatly misunderstood--even in the medical community. So, the "average joe" is clueless. Is this person a friend, co-worker, family? if so, maybe they need to be educated about celiac disease? OR--- we could send Richard over to kick some butt ) OR-- You COULD say...."Celiac IS a disease, but I know how to treat it by eating...
  8. I amended my post to say "can" be from vitamin deficiencies as I also agree that gluten acts as a neurotoxin and I did not mean to leave that out! I suffered major central nervous system dysfunction and nerve pain(guess my brain is still coming back to life and I should have added that ) Thanks, guys!! As for other organs being affected--definitely...
  9. Heard it on the Radio - Hall and Oates
  10. You sound like me! I started keeping a journal when I developed symptoms and writing it all down somehow kept me "sane" (ha!) I kept a word file of my 60+ symptoms and as I added more and more, I would just copy the list and bring it to the dozens of "medical professionals" I saw in 3 years. Lots of tests run, nothing conclusive except vitamin deficiencies...
  11. Tell hubby-it's very real. (sorry if this is long) Neurological issues CAN result from nutritional deficiencies (iron, folate, B-vitamins and fatty acids-omega 3) as a result from malabsorption in celiac. Neurotransmitters like dopamine and seratonin are also greatly impacted. There are many medical articles written on this connection to gluten--if he...
  12. "BHA, BHT, and TBHQ BHA and BHT have been used, as food additives, in food products, with some restrictions, since the late 1950s. TBHQ is a more recent addition to the list of antioxidants allowed in food, in Europe, it became an accepted antioxidant for food use in 2004. Their full names are: BHA: Butylated hydroxyanisole (E320) BHT: Butylated...
  13. Sounds delicious!! --but I was really hoping for your French Bread recipe you spoke of on another thread...you made us drool with your description. My recipe is okay-- but you talked about how big it rose and how the crust was chewy...sounds awesome!!!..so.....PLEASE? Pretty PLEASE?? thanks!!
  14. It's woefully ignorant people like this who make it harder than this has to be for all of us. sigh...okay,I read her "article" and my first thought is X&^%*&^%$! ---for the 999th time!!--- there is no such thing as a gluten "allergy." That was just one glaring error I found in her piece and her lack of valid sources makes me cringe. Oh that's right...
  15. yuck....and no more of those "pink and blue icing roses" either...

    ARCHIVED Endocrinologist

Not a bad idea to have your thyroid antibodies and thyroid stimulating hormones and free T3 and T4 levels tested and mention your glucose issues to him/her. A good endo will know the relationship between celiac and thyroid disorders. They also treat adrenal disorders. When my thyroid was "misbehaving" pre-gluten-free, I was exhausted. It's stable now and...

  21. I was extremely ill and in crippling pain for several years and my family wondered if I was dying, so they know full well what celiac did to me, yet they fail to see they are also in danger. I had genetic testing done for my own confirmation and so I could get my huge family to see that it is likely their many autoimmune diseases (cronh's, MS, diabetes, thyroid...
