ARCHIVED Would You Report A Doctor Who Misdiagnosed You?
IrishHeart replied to veryami1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am confused by something. What do you mean by "negative DNA"? you have DNA...do you mean negative Celiac gene test? If so, you do not have celiac. That's the exclusionary test. I just heard all this diagnostic protocol this past weekend from Dr. Fasano at a conference here in Orlando. from Univ. of Chicago Celiac Center "To help diagnose celiac disease... -
ARCHIVED Would You Report A Doctor Who Misdiagnosed You?
IrishHeart replied to veryami1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If I reported or sued every doctor who misdiagnosed me, I'd be in court for years. Not sure it would hold up in court anyway. A "very strong possibility" means what exactly--what were the results? This possibility without an endo and positive biopsy and lack of positive celiac-related genes does not necessarily make a definite celiac diagnosis, hon.... -

I love all fruits and veggies.Never met one I did not like. True story! I do indulge in a homemade blue cheese dip on occasion. I make awesome granola bars (I can give you the recipe if you want) I like the Kind bars with pecans and cinnamon once and a while...very yummy. I tried a Plentils snack when I was at the GFLIVING conference last weekend... -
ARCHIVED Help Figuring Out Exactly What My Issue Is
IrishHeart replied to The-Lagomorph's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
You relate to us a resurgence of good health off gluten. I am not sure why then you are questioning that gluten may be an issue for you. How can you be sure it is not celiac or NCGS? Were you ever tested for celiac disease? But for the record, none of us can eat ezekiel bread or drink barley tea as you can, so I doubt you have celiac. This... -

I was raised Catholic but I never even heard of them and would have laughed out loud at "nun's farts" and be sent to confession and given nine Hail Mary's and nine Our Father's...no doubt. -

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
IrishHeart replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Me too!!. Encores are the best. i am not even feeding hungry teens My mom used to say: Dinner is when we put it on the table. (both my parents worked and often, my Dad started dinner.) She also said: This is not a diner, No menu of choices. We all eat the same thing. You're on your own if you are late. (man , my Mom was mean. lol) This... -
ARCHIVED Just Want To Be Able To Eat Out Like A "normal" Person!
IrishHeart replied to icelandgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That's not likely to ever happen. (as wonderful as it would be for us). The vast majority of the world's population does not have a gluten issue (despite what the " experts" out there say on the internet). I once thought everyone did too, I even remember posting early in my time on here saying" I bet we all have NCGS on some level"....but research and reality...- 25 replies

ARCHIVED Over 25 Years Of Chasing A Diagnosis, Please Help, Elevated Ttg Iga
IrishHeart replied to rcheltrvel's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Actually, Dr. Fasano addressed the genetic component at the gluten-free Conference Saturday in Orlando and he talked about this rather factually. He said the HLA-DQ2 and HLA-DQ8 genes are the only genes associated with celiac. They are necessary for it, but not determinate. In other words, you may have the genes and never trigger it. But if you do...- 71 replies

ARCHIVED Just Want To Be Able To Eat Out Like A "normal" Person!
IrishHeart replied to icelandgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have dined out successfully (and I've also been bitten on the ass a few times.) It happens Good experiences at PF Chang's, Bonefish Grill, Bistango in NYC, Naked Oyster in Hyannis Mass. etc.! I go to places vetted by other celiacs on Find me Gluten Free. I am normal...this is just the "new normal". You may have to get past thinking we are not...- 25 replies

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Charlatans
IrishHeart replied to Gemini's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I said nothing of the sort. I said no people will automatically ASSUME that about ALL chiropractors. I never said you were against all chiros, now did I? NOPE. Read what I wrote again. Thanks. The last thing anyone would call me is a snot, Sorry you do not like my replies. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Charlatans
IrishHeart replied to Gemini's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hon, having a conversation with someone who takes a different view from yours does not constitute an "attack". (using that word for what I have said....is over the top) This is a forum where people discuss issues. I was discussing with you. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Charlatans
IrishHeart replied to Gemini's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Who are "these people"? You have to give the readership here the benefit of the doubt and let them see what's being discussed. I hope we can agree that anyone who generalizes about an entire profession, race of people, religion or ANYTHING.... based on the actions of SOME people? ...is not very wise. And if I had that kind of narrow thinking, I'd... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Charlatans
IrishHeart replied to Gemini's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sorry, I just do not see that as a logical conclusion, I'm afraid. A few chiropractors who have branched out into this "field" does not make all "chiropractors, in general look bad". It's a non-sequitor. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Charlatans
IrishHeart replied to Gemini's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You think so, really? Because I don't think so. I think it just makes the ones who suggest they are diagnosing "NCGS" obvious charlatans. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Charlatans
IrishHeart replied to Gemini's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
well, I do owe you some serious $$ for accepting all those dares I have thrown at you...but that's another issue. I'd like to note that the CYREX test page says: "These tests are not currently available outside of the United States, nor in the State of New York." hmmm ...since when did NYS get so savvy about things?? -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Charlatans
IrishHeart replied to Gemini's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My chiropractor thinks this is all a giant scam. He would never, ever think to "diagnose" anyone. He fixes backs. Period. Ok, here is basically what DR. Fasano (a real, live celiac expert!! ) said at the gluten-free Living Conference on Saturday.... He said "there are a frenzy of so-called experts out there on the internet", but they are not experts... -
