  1. "Food sensitivities"? is not the same as celiac. Do you have celiac disease?? Because if you have Celiac Disease, you should not risk cross contamination, no matter if "you do not react". You are still sparking the inflammatory process in your gut. As a celiac, I would never eat food made on the same griddle as gluten containing food. Never. ...
  2. Prime rib roast with horseradish sauce baked potatoes asparagus a small scoop of chocolate gelato (note to self: walk extra mile on treadmill at gym tomorrow, chubster)
  3. Sounds as if they covered all the bases. Maybe it is the meds, then. As you say, the G F diet is helping, so...stay the course. Have you removed casein as well? Maybe that could help with the D. probiotics work wonders for bowel issues, if they do not mess with your meds. (I do not think they are contra-indicated for meds) Could just be a...
  4. But, you know that a big open play land of wheat is not the same at all.
  5. I am sure it is frustrating. Sorry hon. My Dad had kidney disease and was on dialysis and had blood transfusions constantly, so I think I understand the frustration and I wish he had been properly DXed with celiac back then as it may have helped him immensely. But as for you--if you tried a gluten challenge and it made things worse, then you should...
  6. Glad you are doing better post-transplant and I think you are courageous and a warrior! But honestly, I suggest asking for a celiac panel... pronto, before you continue on the gluten-free diet. Continue to eat gluten for this test so it is valid. Make sure celiac is what you are dealing with, so you have proper follow up care. Is kidney disease...
  7. I have no snow to worry about anymore, and I admit to having 2 loaves of bread, 1 pizza crust and 2 packages of wraps in my freezer. AT ALL TIMES! hey, you never know when something may happen? better safe than sorry? what? I'm a NOO Englandah by birth...we are always "minute men"--loaded and ready. Right, Gem???

I think you had a previous post about "not being thirsty"--was that you? if so, DRINK WATER! really...stop stressing. This is supposed to be the most fun time of your life. be happy! so...what caused your bloating? is my first question. You have given us...
  10. Really? Nicole, honey..I am pretty sure you already know this is a bad idea and just want us to tell you this: ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!. Not only will they get it all over themselves, but you know they are going to be bringing it home. Never in a bazillion years. Sorry, Nope, nope, nope.

  13. OR that you split your pants and have to wear sweats now. Great explanation for the Newbies, K. And a refresher course for the rest of us. Thanks for sharing all the great info from the ICDS. Got any more?
  14. Karen's right. Then, the sample was tainted or contaminated in some way. Not your fault. Not the lab's fault. Could be any number of reasons why it happened. It likely lies with whomever collected the blood sample. (if this were a drug test, let's say....for example, there would be question of what someone took to mask results or what was added...
  15. No one here can be a "tie breaker" for you, hon. Sorry. We're not doctors. Gene tests are reliable, but gene tests do not diagnose celiac. They can be used to rule it out, but we have seen at least 2 diagnosed celiacs who post on here with genes other than DQ2 and DQ8. You may need further testing and another medical opinion. From what I understand...
  16. The only three places I have eaten breakfast out were: a totally dedicated G F bakery/cafe in Latham,NY run by my friend Sherry Lynn, Friedman's Lunch in NYC (they are great! G F bagels and lox and cream cheese, oh my!) and a local cafe near me (Jensen Beach, FL) that does breakfast in a skillet. G F toast from a dedicated toaster. No CC, no worries. I...
  17. When I had to take a med short term, the spokesperson at TEVA pharmaceuticals told me that all meds manufactured and distributed by TEVA in the US are gluten free.
  18. I used my friend's mix and I have no clue what her trade secret blend is. However, I have made burger buns using Bette Hagman's recipe and they turned out fabulous. Bette was the first real G F baker and the "mother" of G F baking. http://www.glutenfreediva.com/2007/06/burger-on-a-bun-heaven/ Our Sylvia on c.com loves Jules Shepard's burger buns...
  19. That does NOT sound boring to me! Sounds like YUM! I made ZA tonight (as we call it) too. My friend Sherry Lynn owns a dedicated gluten-free bakery http://sherrylynnsglutenfree.net/ and she sent me a "care package" the other day--so sweet. (I have recently moved to Fla---1300 miles away from her ) and so, I used her flour mix to make...
  20. oh honey, everything beats Redbridge. Even water.
  21. Got some New Planet right here (that's Karen and me) and the dough is rising. Pizza night in our house. Life is good.
  22. & that light at the end of the tunnel? is NOT an oncoming train, I promise you! Hi Tonalynn, I can only echo what GEMINI has said because her story--and yours-- is very much like mine. I was dying from long UnDxed celiac disease and now, I am not! I was a slow healer, but Gemini, Karen and so many others told me what I am going to tell you...
  23. Happiest of birthdays to you! You have done everything in your power to get well. Kudos to you and thank YOU for sharing with all of us, too. We are always so thrilled to hear someone is feeling better and doing well. Celebrate wonderful you! Cheers xx IH
  24. Have to agree with Karen here. I don't see any green leafy veggies or fruit or substantial dietary fiber in your list. White rice flour bagels--not the best thing. It's devoid of whole grains and empty calories (like regular bagels) A whole foods diet is best to start getting your GI tract straightened out: meats, fish, poultry, veggies, fruits...
