  1. but the difference is.....you can eat gluten still because you are going to be tested soon, correct? this is not the same as the OP who has been diagnosed with celiac (? not sure--he did not say??) who is wanting to eat gluten and shouldn't. and most definitely should not "cave" especially to --of all things--- McD's crap. Aside from gluten--there...
  2. lol.. no. I live in a rental house. My house is being built 5 miles away. The PODS container is in a storage facility about 20 mins. away. there are no big pots, casseroles or anything in the rental home. I need my stuff. see? we are going to get some of our things tomorrow. I have my kitchen stuff in boxes marked "open me first"
  3. It is in storage. That's the whole point. My house is being built, remember?. I am living in a rental. I can only bring in so much. It just landed here in FL. I have to keep most of my stuff in the POD.... For 4 months....grumble grumble.....
  4. Thanks, K Now, if I can find the right box with my big covered pot in the PODS container and fish it out, I would be all set... I made a cut and paste copy to my laptop.
  5. Well, I got blamed, but nothing ever came of it because as I still tell them, I am the cutest and the favorite.
  6. There technically is no such thing as a "gluten allergy", but yes, you can have an allergy to wheat AND have celiac, too.. And you could absolutely be reacting to something in the shampoo. For example, I can't do tea tree oil at all and if that is in a shampoo, well, it just burns the heck out of my scalp. Some people cannot tolerate sodium laurel sulfate...
  7. he he he! I can see you probably blamed your siblings for everything too. yes, please, Karen---shoot me the recipe. or post here, if easy enough? I am always loving the risotto!!!.
  8. yes, "experts"----that's exactly my point.
  9. Believe me, Diana...I understand how frustrating it is to watch someone you care about go downhill and not even take any suggestions from you about what could help. . All you can do is be supportive, offer ways to help if she goes gluten-free (despite negative celiac panels) and be a friend. As we often say on here, you can lead the horse to water...
  10. but "celiac genes" do not determine celiac. You know this by now. She may have selective deficiency of IgA, but they test for that when they do the celiac panel . Sometimes, someone becomes stressed and the body has low seratonin levels. That would also cause mental health issues. If she does not really respond to SSRIs, which are often prescribed for...
  11. Not sure why you tested the waters, unless you went G F just to see if it could help you and you wondered what would happn if you ate it? ....but if you have celiac disease, please do not do that ever again. The inflammatory response lasts for weeks inside your body even if you do not have a single symptom appear. We have many members who do not seem to have...
  12. I see you have posted a new thread saying you had gas and pain all night. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/104350-yesterday/ And this is likely the reason why, not the corn chips and the frozen gluten-free pizza you speculate about. Fast food joints are not the best places to try and get a G F meal. You could try using the Find Me Gluten Free app...
  13. (1) My mom recommended the pasta. (2) Pasta is not a night shade. (3) I did not tell you to put tomato sauce on it, now did I? noooooo.. (4) but, if you want to blame me, I can handle it. As the youngest in my family, I am used to getting blamed for lots of stuff. I may have overused the emoticons there, but it was fun.
  14. ok, well, this is very exciting...and the hubs is thrilled...we have learned about an Italian place with a gluten-free menu and a dedicated pizza oven "to avoid CC" --as they say on the website--and maybe we'll have to check it out in the weeks to come.
  15. and you succeeded..!! .thanks. I lurvs that guy! I had hogfish last night. Just a truly succulent, delicate white fish along with scallops for the hubs with some sugar snap peas and a tossed salad. I also ate about 8 shrimp ---gasp!---and am thrilled to report no real histamine issues. yaay! A lovely filet mignon is tonight's fare with potatoes...
  16. I did not think your reaction was alarmist in any way, hon Not at all! I think it made great sense. and I think we said just about the same thing, really. In any case, I think she may need a second opinion--not just ours--if it continues (after she has gluten-proofed her kitchen one more time)
  17. D Do you mean besides celiac, righ? because that surely causes what appear to be mental health issues like depression and anxiety as many of us can attest. let's see, a few could be: uncontrolled diabetes endocrine and metabolic disorders lyme disease severe Vitamin deficiencies , like omega 3s and essential fatty acids, amino acids anemia a...
  18. Slurred speech and migraines, brain fog and loss of motor coordination surely sounds like gluten ataxia to me. If you already had those symptoms before diagnosis, it would make sense they are still lingering. but increased symptoms mean something else may be going on (or possibly, you are not gluten free enough--meaning gluten is sneaking in somehow...
  19. sigh...like so many studies involving celiac and various AI diseases, right? hey, at least it is comforting to know the "big guns" docs are all over these issues (Murray, Green, Fasano, Guandalini). and researchers in Norway, Sweden, Italy, too...gives us hope!
  20. This is fascinating, although there are many who report their children do better off gluten. So while it may not be a celiac connection, it may be a gluten problem nonetheless. I will be interested in seeing further studies. Thanks for posting this, Colleen.
  21. I sometimes use a thickening shampoo by John Freida that has hydrolyzed wheat protein in it (I know...GASP!!) and because I do not drink it and I do not have a contact wheat allergy, I have no issue whatsoever with it. Just reporting. But, if you are worried about it, do not use it. but please, read this article by a leading recognized celiac dietician...
  22. Have you read the book What HIT me? by Genny Masterman Good info regarding histamine intolerance and why it affects people with impaired guts, like in celiac. I reduced the inflammatory response in my body by limiting/eliminating high histamine foods and chemicals. There are more of us with HIT and mast cell issues than most doctors think...
  23. but, I am confused. How long before the GI doctor makes up his mind about the biopsy? You can't keep being sick. and yes, fast food is not good, celiac or not.
  24. Well, if you are gluten intolerant and still eating gluten, presumably for a biopsy? then you are probably having a reaction to it. I know I'd have more than dry heaves and nausea if I ate at Arby's. (or am I missing something.??).
