ARCHIVED Cold Snowy Winter Comin'............ Git Ready

I should hope so. I mean, we have already discussed how impossible it would be for us to get good gluten-free food in prison. -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free, Vegetarian And Paleo Meal Ideas?
IrishHeart replied to KCG91's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
If you have real intolerances, you should remove those foods, of course. If you are a celiac, you need sources of protein. Taking out meat, fish, dairy and legumes will make your choices extremely limited. I respect being vegetarian, but you simply cannot be vegetarian and paleo at the same time. That's contradictory. Paleo = meat. -

Happy to see the hubs wielding the shovel today was not used for bashing in someone's stubborn head and the "MINT" was planted in that shallow grave hole. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Diet Books
IrishHeart replied to vallene45's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You want to exclude bread, rice, pasta, desserts and potatoes, then you will not be using any flours either so you really do not need a recipe book, per se. You would be eating essentially a paleo diet. Free paleo dietary guidelines right here Open Original Shared Link -

ARCHIVED Do People Try To Make You Prove Your Intolerance?
IrishHeart replied to Juliebove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
That's all I do is research, hon. I have told you there is no evidence of foods "cross-reacting" like gluten. The leading celiac researchers have made this clear as well.. If you feel those foods bother you, don't eat them. But to say they are "cross-reactors with gluten" so celiacs cannot eat them--- is just plain incorrect. Karen has provided... -

IrishHeart replied to Juliebove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
You really should understand that this man is not a doctor. There is no validity to "cross-reactors" to gluten. NONE. And this is posted at the bottom of the page you reference on his website as "medical info" Check it out. Disclaimer: The contents of this site are for educational purposes only. and here I thought I was the only person on the planet who uses the word shenanigans in a sentence. Hey you! I surely missed you. We're having a rotisserie chicken, coconut rice and sauteed chard (next to kale, I chard) and tonight and I just cannot help but also have a vodka, seltzer and and orange slice. (or 2). I can. I'm a grown -up. YO... -
ARCHIVED Do People Try To Make You Prove Your Intolerance?
IrishHeart replied to Juliebove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Having developed a problem with high histamine foods, soy, MSG, food dyes and other chemicals in foods along with celiac, I can say that I do understand how difficult it is to try and explain things to people, especially when I have already explained what celiac is, what gluten is and why I simply cannot just "try something" they want me to try---when I... -
ARCHIVED What's The Gluten Summit?
IrishHeart replied to Rucko's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
yes, he's one of the ones I hold with high regard. I read that he is " the lead researcher on the world’s largest brain imaging and rehabilitation study on professional football players." Open Original Shared Link is one of the doctors who has linked gluten to neurological symptoms, particularly gluten ataxia. It was by reading his PUB MED a... -

IrishHeart replied to T.H.'s topic in Super Sensitive People
He is truly one of a kind and hopefully, he'll be my doctor for the rest of my life--even though I have moved 1300 miles away. We have a standing date for yearly followups and he returns my calls within hours. He's in his 30's, so I am glad I do not have to break a "new one" in. Took me years to find a doctor who understands celiac and all of the ramifications... -
ARCHIVED My Experience At The Expo
IrishHeart replied to Adalaide's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
well, given my current state of "improved health post DX' (read that as: 40 lbs. weight gain) and my very tight pants, I should probably steer clear of people giving me more yummy things to eat. -
ARCHIVED What's The Gluten Summit?
IrishHeart replied to Rucko's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I counted 7 actual noted celiac specialists, authors and researchers.. I am stunned to see them there with these other "experts", but I guess they know what they are doing. Maybe they are there to help create better understanding of celiac and the gluten spectrum. I have a lot of respect for those doctors and Melinda Dennis. I also see a bunch of people... -

Well, I know how excited and bouncy-off-the walls you were before you even left the house so I am delighted you had such a great time. I just have one question: How the #%$#K! did you carry all that stuff? Been lifting weights and not telling me? ARCHIVED That Moment When You Find The Answers To It All
IrishHeart replied to T.H.'s topic in Super Sensitive People
I tried a paleo diet and found myself having symptoms. Now, how could that be--I have eliminated everything people suggest? Well, many foods I was eating are high in histamines. It was my aha! moment. I had suspected hh before, but of course, my doc back then was very skeptical "I doubt it. you don't have allergies blah blah "...yeah, okay. Not a real ... -
ARCHIVED Nervous About Being Out Of Town For Turkey Dayi
IrishHeart replied to jamer's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My first Thx after DX, I went to my sister's and she graciously made me a separate turkey and I brought my own stuffing & gravy. While washing the dishes with my niece, I saw ONE baster. This means she basted my plain turkey with the same one she basted the stuffed one and yes, it was my first( and not my last) rookie mistake. Since your hubs... -
