ARCHIVED Sign For The Front Door...
IrishHeart replied to africanqueen99's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm that person too. Shoe-free. Started when we lived in the country on a dirt road and continues here where the sand is always finding a way inside. Maybe we should all get signs saying Come on in, but take off everything, hose down outside and sit buck naked at the table. Maybe it's not practical, but it might be fun...and can you imagine the... -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
IrishHeart replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
yeah, it's cooled right off. seriously, it's really quite beautiful. No humidity, 82 and just lovely. We are thrilled with our decision to move here. Bella has 2 boyfriends. "Whiskey" and his brother "Punch" visit daily. They belong to the neighbors (he's from Ireland) and they are also the owners of this house we have rented. The boys come by every day... -
ARCHIVED Deep Depression With Pmt Three Months After Glutening
IrishHeart replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Also, can you add some Culturelle dairy-free probiotics to your daily regiment.? The lactobacillus GG is specifically designed to help with diarrhea. Just a suggestion. I was very happy when the depressive thoughts and anxiety lifted in me once I treated the low D, low B-12, low, folate and my gut started absorbing again. I was not a depressive person... -
Reaction To Buckwheat?
IrishHeart replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Depends on the buckwheat. How was it processed? I eat Pocono's buckwheat without issues. P.S. just curious, but is a blood type diet the one where you should supposedly only eat foods that match your blood type? -
The Celiac Iceberg Revisited At Icds 2013
IrishHeart commented on jebby's blog entry in The Patient Celiac
I find it somewhat humorous (though sadly humorous) that I can get complete strangers to listen to me, but my large extended family just turns a deaf ear. What is up with that? lol Only my Mom went GF and she feels fabulous. If she can adapt at 85, anyone can. G. -
I suspect you are correct!. It's possible their preemies are preemies because of it too. I hate to think of the downward spiral these women may face. sigh. Maybe you can slip them a celiac pamphlet? None of their doctors are "getting it". Thanks for sharing so much with us! Take care, Ginny

ARCHIVED Sign For The Front Door...
IrishHeart replied to africanqueen99's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
come on guys, I have been around kids all my life (teaching, babysitting, lots of nephews and nieces, godchildren and even holding babies while their parents were represented in family court) and yeah, they can get messy, but I find it hard to believe any mother coming to visit the OP is going to allow her babes to walk through the door, filthy, smeared... -

"when in doubt, throw it out." Could be any reason why you feel bad, but for now, this product is not for you. -
ARCHIVED Should I Be Retested?
IrishHeart replied to SarahKaye's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you are still consuming gluten on a regular basis, I'd say get tested for celiac right away. Type 1 diabetes and celiac often go hand-in-hand. Open Original Shared Link- 4 replies

ARCHIVED Prevalent Countries/nationalities?
IrishHeart replied to WinterSong's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Until I read that Middle Eastern cultures were also affected, I could only explain the Irish or German lineage on my Mom's side as possible contributing factors for me being a celiac. (I have 2 DQ2 genes--one from each parent) My paternal grandparents emigrated from Armenia and my Dad also suffered from celiac symptoms. This article is really interesting... -
ARCHIVED Sign For The Front Door...
IrishHeart replied to africanqueen99's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'd make it light and simple and funny if I had kiddos coming to my house. "No wheat, no crumbs, no food allowed. We're glad you're here, come join the crowd!" and have a big smiling cute picture like this guy They already know about your kids' celiac, so there's no need to hammer it home too much. I would not insist people walk... -

IrishHeart replied to ndw3363's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I would do what Love2 suggests ! however, I have used the Udi's white bread in my traditional recipe. --but I toasted it in the oven first. arleneeeeee, hey what if you "pinned" the lasagne roll ups with a toothpick (or even a turkey needle thinger--yeah they probably have a name but I;ll be damned if I can think of it) before frying? they might stay together better. just a thought, sweets. I've seen the roll-ups baked, but not fried, but you like to be experimental, I know. . I do not pre... -

IrishHeart replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We had a cold snap come through. Yeah, it's down to 82. send me a picture of snow sometime. (I still like it!) I made a lasagna last night because I was able to find Tinkyada noodles. whoohoo! This morning, my 3 pals urticaria, headache and joint pain showed up for breakfast, so looks like I am not ready for tomatoes & aged cheese a few days... -
ARCHIVED Interesting Article On The Correlation Between Wheat Consumption And Heart Disease
IrishHeart replied to ItchyAbby's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Oh no, Abby! My comments were not directed at you at all. I was just speaking hypothetically and agreeing with what the author said in the article about people in general, who do not read the entire Pub Med article.. You have posted something for discussion. That's a good thing. You did not come on and say "eating musk melon causes some celiacs... -
ARCHIVED Help With Daughter's Blood Work
IrishHeart replied to cap6's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms

ARCHIVED Pumpkin Seeds- Question
IrishHeart replied to tryme's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
First, many people can tolerate "foods processed in a facility with" because companies do wash the production lines, so please do not beat yourself up over something like this. Even if there were a risk of CC, it would be minimal. Don't worry about it now, ok? we all make rookie errors anyway. Secondly. is the doctor suggesting the endo may be thinking... -
Hi amitatos! Welcome. I think rule number #1 for newly diagnosed celiacs should be "don't believe everything we read on the internet". Unfortunately, I learned early on that everyone has an opinion and they express it loudly. So, okay...here's mine: read what the leading celiac researchers say instead of bloggers and websites that scare you...

Anger, Quick Temper, Depression
IrishHeart replied to gfgypsyqueen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am not aware of any evidence that states we celiacs cannot eat the flesh and fat of animals who eat grains and soy--as this veterinarian claims. I read this in one of this articles: He questions: " How hard is it to believe that the flesh- and fat - of animals consuming gluten, soy and corn contain enough lectins to do us harm?" Answer: It... -

ARCHIVED Interesting Article On The Correlation Between Wheat Consumption And Heart Disease
IrishHeart replied to ItchyAbby's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Abby, Yowzers...That's quite an article! Sadly for me, it's full of math and calculations and my brain goes into freeze mode when that starts. I have to read articles like that maybe 3 times before I can converse intelligently on it. She says there are so many variables to studies such as this one that she thinks it makes it difficult to weigh the data...
