  1. Since you cooked the peanut butter, there is a good chance you killed any possible samonella. Most people don't cook it, they just eat it on bread or whatever. That could have been ugly. -Laurie
  2. This is a link to one of the many sites. (copy and paste, since I don't know how to hyper link LOL). You can also do a google search, it will pop up allot of links. Open Original Shared Link From the site. Section 504 is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities. Section 504 ensures that the child with...
  3. Yup, I have hypoglycemia. I haven't cut out sweets, but just limit the amount I eat. I tend to be a grazer also, I pretty much snack my way through the day. I only have issues if I don't eat for awhile. -Laurie
  4. I was diagnosed at 13 years old. (I'm 32 now). I still got very sick for years and years after. If it wasn't an accidental glutening it was the flu or a cold or food poisoning or ..... I litteraly got every illness that was contagious also. I can say from experience that this disease really runs your immune system throught the ringer. The only thing that...
  5. If your going to Portland, you may as well go a little further over to Vancouver. There is an almost completely gluten free store there. They have products that I was never able to find before. I have been a diagnosed celiac for 19 years, so I can relate. The choice and quality of gluten free foods has changed drasticly since back then. I was so excited...
  6. I suppose if you don't have to worry about it, then it wouldn't cross most people's minds. Good point, I never thought about it that way. I thought it was common knowledge. My mom taught me all about balanced meals and what everything was made out of by the time I was 4 years old. We had cards to help me learn the food groups and everything. I guess...
  7. my favorite is when they ask what kind of bread would you like. I say no thanks, I can't have wheat. The response is usually oh, well how about white bread then. What do they think it is made out of -marshmallow fluff? Ignorance is bliss. -Laurie
  8. My B-F suggested they have to take Immodium also, to get the constipation side of things followed by ex-lax. So they can get the full effect of the block up then blow out. I would like to vote in the women from my daughters school who is completely rude and doesnt care about anyone but herself. I brought paper work in from the DR. and it still wasn't good...
  9. ROTFLMAO!
  10. This sounds great, my daughter was just bugging earlier about wanting to make a cheesecake. She will be thrilled. Thank you! -Laurie
  11. I know this is the teenangers section, but thought I might offer a suggestion anyway. If you are useing a toothpaste with flouride in it and you arent rinsing well after. That can cause you to feel sick or throw up. -Laurie
  12. Jestgar Hooray! it worked! Thanks so much, -Laurie
  13. I was looking the other day at oils trying to decide which would be better and from what I saw both canola and vegetable oil are made of soy. WHAT THE HECK????? Is this true or was I looking at the wrong bottles, thinking I was looking at canola oil? I wasn't feeling well at the time (brainfog). -Laurie
  14. I know they sell plain gelatin at grocery stores in the baking isle, possibly with or around the jello section. I would think they might have recipes on the box? -Laurie
  15. Yes, I still think she has DH now that you mention it. It only pops up when she eats gluten. She is currently eating gluten so they can do a endoscopy on her in another month or 2. She started eating gluten again on thanksgiving. Trying to get her to eat it is an uphill battle. Can't say I blame her, but we need a diagnosis for the school. -Laurie
  16. I get the same thing, but we knew what was wrong with me. I think what happens is you just don't absorb well. I know I still have some issues even now. If I drink alot I'm in the bathroom every 10-15 minutes. -Laurie

You can't have rice krispies unless you get a gluten-free brand. Most of the rice krispies and genereic brands have malt in them. I know Barbara's makes one and there is another brand, but I can't think of it. I have only found them in health food stores or online. If you want a main stream cereal cocoa and fruity pebbles are both gluten free and can be found...
  18. I don't even like walking in the bakery section at the grocery store. The smell is gross to me, it used to make me feel like I would puke. I have since gotten pass that sensation but it still smells gross. I guess I just associate it with poison, it's not even tempting not even in my dreams. LOL I Can't even enjoy it in my sleep. -Laurie
  19. I believe you can do that after you have had 500 or more posts....I think that is the magic number. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. LOL -Laurie
  20. I thought my daughter had DH, but apparently she only has eczema. The tell tale signs apparently for DH is after the spot heals it leaves a purpleish scar where the spot was. I didn't know that prior to taking her to the dermatologist. (she was really rude to us, like we were wasting her time). Her spots looked exactly like DH, but she only gets lighter...
  21. I am one of the few that only get d not c. I know prunes/juice is very effective. That is why so many elderly people eat and drink it. As for the MOM I wouldn't take more than the bottle recommends. Sorry I can't be of more help. I know someone will pop on and give you some advice. -Laurie
  22. Hooray! for Shirley. But darnit I had to start running Firefox instead, my darling nephew gave my computer a bug so when I use IE I get pop ups every where. I feel like the guy on the ad playing space invaders with the pop ups! LOL They pop up as fast as you can close them out. -Laurie

  24. I finally convinced my mom to go gluten free. She still has mis-haps. The other week she ate half a croisant before she realized what she was doing. Needless to say she is still paying the price a week later. She is at least now convinced she has a minimum of gluten intolerance if not full blown celiac. She wouldn't consider it before since my dad's side...
