  1. Thanks for the tip about the crunchy noodles on the side. When i first got diagnosed, I went to PF Changs twice and ordered the lettuce wraps with the gluten free sauce. I was sick before I left the restaurant and was miserable both times. I recently went back and ordered other stuff besides the lettuce wraps and did not get sick at all. I guess i...
  2. I also really like the spinach and feta pizza, the crust was pretty tasty and had good flavor. Also, who couldnt use the extra serving of veggies especially spinach with all the vitamins. Question: Does anyone know if there is a way to make these in the microwave? I would love to bring one to work once in awhile. Thanks!
  3. I use the B12 1500 from GNC and I think its fantastic (says gluten, corn, soy, dairy and yeast free right on the bottle). I also have started drinking Dasani Plus which has extra B vitamins in it also.
  4. Unfortunately, I have had nothing but trouble with the Outback near me. The last time I went, I had a plain piece of chicken. I told them no butter even, just in case and I was still so sick and so fast. I started getting sick even before we left the restaurant, it was so quick. This is the Outback in Burbank, California. I have tried three times and I...
  5. Of course I will never know for sure, but my best estimate was that it was triggered by a bout of food poisoning i had at a Chinese restaurant eating dim sum. It lasted longer than a week and so my doctor thought it was MSG poisoning instead and said it should clear up soon. I was sick for another six months before I convinced him to test me for celiac. I...
  6. I dont know if anyone else has seen these before but my Trader Joe's (Burbank, CA) just got in frozen Gluten & Dairy free pancakes and I really like them. They are so easy to make, just like the real frozen pancakes I had as a kid. My boyfriend couldnt tell that they were gluten free at all.
  7. Could possibly be a gallbladder problem. One of my family members has had that before.
  8. I just want to add that i recently have been experiencing that problem with this restaurant so i dont think that its an isolated incident. We all know that cross contamination is an issue everywhere, i think the poster just wanted to give a heads up that things might have changed. I had trouble at the Burbank one in Southern California.
  9. They either have stopped stocking it at the Whole Foods in Los Angeles or at least have not had a new shipment in awhile. I used to get it all the time and they couldnt keep it on the shelf. It was really popular, I cannot believe they would discontinue it. Glutino makes one also but its a bit more difficult to find.
  10. Ruth Chris' Steak House is also a good option. All their steaks are gluten free and all of their sides with the exception of their creamed and au gratin. And they have a fantastic flourless chocolate cake called Sin Cake, it is amazing.
  11. I work in a hospital and talked to one of our dieticians since being diagnosed. The dieticians know about celiac but the food preparers and the kitchen staff do not. The dietician told me that if I am ever hospitalized, to just bring in my own food. There is no guarantee of gluten free food. I have started an internal campaign to get them to at least start...
  12. Disneyland is definitely the easiest place I have ever been to to eat gluten free. You can either call and speak to the chef if you are planning on eating at a nice restaurant, or pick up the gluten free list at City Hall. I had pizza, a burger with a bun, and chicken skewers. I was in heaven! So Cal. has Whole Foods everywhere so it will be easy to get...
  13. If you have an In & Out, get their fries and ask for them Well Done! Very tasty.
  14. Their Anniversary Godiva cheesecake uses a flourless chocolate cake as a crust but i would not guarantee that it is gluten free.
  15. Welcome to the board Heidi. I was diagnosed at 24, and it has been a full year. Everyone has already said what I would have said. Just know that you have found the right place. I dont post very often but I read every day and I dont know what i would do without the information and support that I have found here. Let me know if you need anything. Denise
  16. Last time I checked with Taco Bell, the only gluten free items were the Tostada, Pintos and Cheese and the Mexican Rice. I actually eat there a lot getting the Tostada's and the beans. I really like it. Chipotle is fantastic though, its a great option. Their burrito bol is so yummy.
  17. My celiacs also seemed to be triggered by medication also. I had a positive skin TB test and so I had to go on INH (isoniazid) for 6 months. I think that some medications attack you where you are weak, and obviously for me it was my gut.
  18. Just checked at Target this weekend. The Reese's mini peanut butter eggs do have wheat flour in them.
  19. My favorite Think Thin bar is the Brownie Crunch. I live off of these things.
  20. My friend works at In & Out here in L.A. When i told her that i got diagnosed with celiac disease, she responded, "we learned about that at work." I think that they go out of their way to keep their employees informed about food allergies and special orders. Oh and another tip, if you want crispy fries, order them "well done"
  21. Ranch is my favorite also. The only problem with Target (well at least my Target) is that all these gluten-free people must know when the truck delivers them because I can only find Salt & Vinegar and a rare BBQ. Always sold out of the Ranch.
  22. I started feeling really sick in January 2005 and diagnosed in April 2005. I guess i was pretty lucky that it only took four months.
  23. I usually get about 2-3 migraines a year. I had one last month that lasted almost two weeks because my entire neck stiffened up. My doctor prescribed me a headache buster that i take as needed which has a muscle relaxant, acetominophen and caffeine in it. I also find that one of my major triggers is mushrooms. I stay away if i already feel headache-y...
