  1. My ND is very good with diagnostics. I guess I should preface this by saying every other ND in town doesn't list any specialties on the ND licensing board site - except her. She lists endocrinology as a specialty, which is why I went to her. So, mine uses a blend of traditional blood work (past and new tests she ordered from LabCorp), as well as being...
  2. T3 and t4 are thyroid tests. Did they run a Celiac panel?
  3. They aren't. Been tested. Well, magnesium has been tested and I take supplaments. It's more than just twitching...my left thumb now doesn't bend down as much as my right. It is better gluten-free, but why is it starting in the right?
  4. Sorry, thought she was 15. Don't want her to grow up too fast ,
  5. I feel better tonight. I do think it was/is a bug or possibly a weird reaction to the drastic weather change (barometric). It was like a migraine crossed with sinus pain crossed with bad earaches. With some muscle aches, tiredness and a touch of elevated temp. Weird. I'm still a little off but the more I move around the better I feel. No red blotches...
  6. Ok, question. One of the symptoms I attributed to gluten was the "shaky left hand". It improved off gluten. Worsens when I feel bad - assume gluten exposure or during DH breakout. A week or do ago I started noticing it again, maybe it started when my blood sugar was off. I guess I noticed it was still around when blood sugar got stable. Anyway, I...
  7. Yep that's it. Used it for everything because of the small size and long handle, hooks on sides. Definitely need another.
  8. I had one and threw it out post gluten. Loved it. Fine-mesh colander /strainer.
  9. I'm not cooking a turkey with bone this year...so was wondering about Pre-made gravy. Thanks for the posts! I was thinking of roasting a whole chicken earlier in the week and using those drippings to make gravy on Thanksgiving.
  10. Great news!
  11. Press, and repeat the coat and bread.
  12. As far as depression goes, that may be thyroid or vit d. Has she been tried on combo t3/t4 therapy? Good tsh numbers are irrelevant - she may do better on combo. Read about it on about.com's thyroid site, they also suggest good books and references there. Vit D defficiency can affect mood, is she supplementing? Yes, it can take a long time to heal...
  13. I'm in month 5, and I must say bathroom habits have been the weirdest part. Before I was always mildly (at least) constipated. Any more than one bm a day was instant D. Now, I go 2-3x a day and have finally stopped panicking....but there was a lot of back and forth between day 1 and today. Some D, some C...lots of weird. Apples help C for me. Anything...
  14. I agree the bit of flour would be good, would keep it clear. What about BRM vital wheat gluten? That would be stronger (if you can take it).
  15. As an exfoliant I find baking soda dries my skin out. I use superfine baker's sugar and brown rice flour instead. I don't use them as a shampoo, though!
  16. Just wanted to share something here to give everyone hope... Last week my neighbor came over and needed a cup of flour. Ironically, I still had a new bag (that I would never use) so i gave him the whole bag, laughed and said "take it, I'll never use it - apparently I have Celiac Disease". Well, next thing I know his wife comes over with some Betty...
  17. Thanks forcyge responses. Still no more fever that I can tell... Still feel miserable. Stomach works. I can eat. My muscles ache and I'm just not quite right. Unfortunately I worked out yesterday with crunches, weights and it's really hard to tell if I hurt from that or a bug. Sad but true. Ok, muscles I didn't work hurt too, and my sinuses and ears...
  18. I would assume (and you know what they say about assumptions) that since iga stays in your skin a long time (you hear about people suffering from DH for years on a gluten-free diet) that the exposure to wheat COULD be showing up now as DH. Do you have other gluten symptoms that showed up then, or now? DH is a weird thing. Can go into spontaneous remission...
  19. Woke up this morning and felt a bit off - stuffy, achey, just off... Shook it off, then around noon a crashing headache and earache....just wanted a nap. A few hours later looked like my temp was rising-took Tylenol. I've been in bed since tring to sleep...no more fever bit I just can't sleep, muscles ache a bit, brain doesn't work. I swear I...
  20. What about nutella? I eat it off a spoon. I also have great luck with peanut m&m's.
  21. Sorry you're so itchy. Yes, I had results in 3 days - the sores started healing and no new ones popped up, I had also been gluten-free for 2 months prior...I'm sure that helped. I'm very happy low iodine worked for me since most meds trigger horrible reactions in me. I still have 2 spots that aren't totally healed and one spot on my belly that...
  22. Yes, and yes. My hypo and gluten symptoms overlap a great deal. I never once noticed myself getting sick eating gluten. Now, I get a "rock in the stomach" feeling from something (I assume gluten), neuro symptoms, and skin issues from gluten. It also messes with my adrenals/blood sugar. None of this was ever obvious - I never ate a piece of bread and...
  23. Btw Trader Joe's sells "fresh" ricotta. I have no idea what size container...
  24. I bet $20 you can find a place in SF that will deliver gluten-free meals to your hotel. Additionally, try calling the hotel and explaining your situation - I bet they can accommodate you somehow. You also can find a grocer there, buy a styrofoam cooler and pack it with fresh fruits, veggies, etc. Google "gluten free San Francisco" and see if there's...
