  1. Actually, that's good news. Hey, this is the weirdness that is our life. Embrace it . Glad you're doing better.
  2. My mother is a smart lady with a degree in Psychology and an MBA. She has done NAET. She thinks it helped, for a short while. She has tried everything EXCEPT getting proper thyroid antibody tests (she's hypo), vitamin panels, and a Celiac panel. She willingly eats around foods that bug her (and it's weird what gets her...leaky gut I'm sure); but...
  3. And I'll just have to trust you on the "drying out" thing. Because mine never benefitted from drying out, that just made the skin more irritated and painful. Especially moving my arms. I struggled to keep my rash moisturized so it didn't crack and bleed. Only time I had to dry it was at night when the blisters popped, and I just used a towel packed under...
  4. Or, she has it and the biopsy missed it. Or, she's ncgs. Or, she had a leaky gut. Gee, wonder what those "other" stomach problems are...? Yeah, I love some of the stuff out there about gluten. Frightening.
  5. When you say minimal iodine are you using the thyca guidelines?
  6. If I'm not mistaken , those are punch biopsies but taken from an affected area? If so, that wasn't the skin area necessary for a DH biopsy. It should be taken from clear skin. Will be interesting if they find iga, though. That's what I've noticed from a few people who post here - they get an inconclusive biopsy lab report that finds iga but not in the...
  7. I can't get your links to open, but that's rather irrelevant to me. You have a bigger problem than doctors that won't listen. You've been on a steroid. Steroids are a contradiction to accurate Celiac dx (which is what you'd be if you have DH). As I'm sure you can and have read, Refractory Celiac is treated with steroid therapy. In the very fine print...
  8. Yeast? That would be in most breads but not a whole grain or cereal. Just because you tested - on a Celiac panel doesn't mean you don't have a gluten issue: Celiac or NCGS. Ditto with allergy. It might be the high protein (gluten) found in some wheat varieties. Sometimes wheat gluten is added to bread products and I believe semolina is a high protein...
  9. Btw, I don't know what you do for milk at your house but all but ONE milk replacement I found contained carageenan. There was one hemp milk that didn't. So milk is the biggest hurdle, IMO. It was what I first added back, in little bits. You can cook with egg whites instead of whole eggs. If she eats cereal she can try it dry...that's my advice short...
  10. I know it's hard to accept. Really. Celiac is an autoimmune reaction. While it may FEEL like a digestive issue for some (and it is in the way it obviously expressesitself) - like eating bad fish or a food that doesn't agree with you, it isn't. Eating a little bit of gluten, once in a while, is Iike eating cyanide once in a while. Gluten is literally...
  11. I think a lot of us feel like that. I almost vomited when I found out he was gene+. And the half gene he got wasn't MINE. In our case we will test every year. I see signs in my son, especially as I remember my stomach aches and behavior as a kid. We're coming to a point where we're going to have to draw a line and force a gluten-free trial on him, regardless...
  12. My hat is off to you, mama. Kids are tough and Celiac is a big one. I'll be jumping in the same boat with my son, soon, I fear. Stopping DH is preferable to treating it. Trust me when I tell you YOUR life will be easier if you can stop DH now. I know the diet may be boring for a while (and I still gag at the thought of egg white omelets) but it is worth...
  13. I agree that compression does seem to work. I piled rolled towels under my arms and pressed down. My rash was too big too cover with a bandage. For me ice packs were a better bet because of location and size.
  14. It's great to see a parent on here working on DH with their child. Please read the thyca diet instructions. Iodized salt and canned food are the tip of the iceberg. If this is her issue she needs more reduction than just those two things, probably. DH can get bad. Very bad. Quickly. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It affects every second of...
  15. You can't go "somewhere in between" as a Celiac, and hope for recovery. I know the idea of this is freaking you out, and you'd rather just not deal with it. I get it. But if this your issue you're going to have to. Untreated Celiac disease can lead to severe health issues like organ damage, cancer, infertility - not to mention loss of quality of life including...
  16. The severity of the damage (for most) wouldn't be as severe (hopefully not the pain, either) but a crumb is enough to make the body start an autoimmune attack. I've never intentionally glutened myself or seen what glutened me, so it's hard for me to give a personal example. One time exposure triggered an AI attack that i could tell lasted a few months...
  17. Well, you asked....
  18. Dove chocolates. Talenti gelato. Tostitos and salsa (bean, cheese, sour cream) nachos. Pear cider. Pamela's brownies. Against the Grain baguette bruschetta. Burn photo of ex in a bowl while you stick pins in a voodoo doll.
  19. Short term - antibody testing. Long-term - you'll probably develop symptoms. I didnt have symptoms until I was off more than 6 months, then they were not ones I expected. Then they changed. If you didn't feel better going gluten-free, you may need to take out something else like dairy for a while, too. Or, you were having a prolonged withdrawal period...
  20. Use the search function on this site and you'll come up with some posts about the military.
  21. I'd call and ask. Mine usually take 5 days....every lab/practice is different.
  22. Oh my goodness. Hang in there.
  23. A tostada is flat and a taco is curved. As far as what Taco Bell serves, you're going to ask them and don't assume ANYONE ELSE will do it the same way. Every manufacturer and restaurant is different.
  24. This year it's just us for the holidays. I think I'm going to try to adopt someone who needs to eat gluten-free and take them a meal or invite them over. Seriously. I think about how hard a gluten-free meal must be to get if you don't cook or can't cook in your own kitchen - such as a nursing home or food kitchen or someone who lives alone and just...
  25. It may be iodine. Somehow iodine acts like water on a grease fire with DH. I had to do low iodine for two weeks and let my DH heal, then started adding back iodine rich foods. It took about 3 months to add them all back without flare. Too much at Thanksgiving gave me a small flare, for example. Iodine is documented as a DH antagonist - I'm not an isolated...
