  1. I'm at 13 months gluten-free. I felt a dramatic change at 10 months. I've been working out hard-core for 4 weeks. My tsh was always clinically (blood work) well controlled with t4/t3 cbo therapy until going gluten-free - then around 8 months it all went nuts - blood work that is. I'm due for another round of bloods this week - we'll see. My ND's theory...
  2. I had refux/acid/GERD pretty bad in my late 20's. Pills didn't work. Then I managed it with meditation and it slowly went away after pregnancy. Guess what started surfacing about 5 months ago (9 months gluten-free) 24 hours to the minute after cc/glutening????! Goes on for 2 weeks, apx. I manage it with careful meals, water. Now that I know what it is...
  3. It isn't. Find a new doctor and show him/her the results and request a biopsy for confirmation. They also did not run a complete Celiac panel.
  4. My son just finally stopped Pre-empting every snack given to his friends with "it's gluten-free because my mom is allergic". The first 9 months or so brought lots of eye rolling from him...and more than a few nasty remarks. One of his friends, whom I adore, eats everything I give him and says its delicious. I love that child. But, to both his credit...
  5. You need to get copiesof your antibody tests and see what you were + on. Take same test results to any other doctors. You can test + on one Celiac test from having other AI diseases. Also, you need to be on gluten for apx 3 months for an accurate Celiac biopsy. If you are concerned about soy and milk go off them for the same 3 months. Sometimes...
  6. Dallas is like crack (hubs just leaves the room). Am loving The Newsroom. Wish they'd bring back Torchwood. Boss is back - i love it - Kelsey Grammar is excellent. And let's not forget True Blood. Now that they've completely departed from the books I see it differently - and Russell Edgington is sooo good at being BAD.
  7. You can doctor up almost any good unscented lotion or oil using essential oils. Just an idea...
  8. I use their semi sweet and milk all the time. I don't use their white since it is made on wheat sharing equipment - I buy their white BAR and break it up. You'll notice they say "may contain milk" on the semi-sweet. I think that's the equipment. Don't have a bag of white to read statement. Yummy yummy.
  9. I loved Picazzos. I dont *remember* the one in Casa Grande having gluten-free-but that was Pre-gluten-free for me. It was independently owned (are they all?). I believe the one in Tucson has closed. I looked at it online the other day and there were postings that it had closed.
  10. Hey Bartfull - haven't been around in a while but THRILLED to see you're doing so well!!! Wow, you got corn back!!!! I understand what you're saying. I'm sitting here grossed out on some cassava BBQ chips (kinda like Funyons??).... Have no desire to eat more. Yuck. I've gotten like that with salt in general - I really notice it in processed stuff.
  11. Hey all - saw this today and thought it would be a great resource here since so many of us are looking for "maximum bang" when it comes to what we eat. I think it would be helpful for newbies, too, especially if you're transitioning from a processed diet. The guide isn't geared to Celiacs or other intolerances or allergies, but it's easy to steer around...
  12. Okay, so I'm so sorry I offended you... In my case, the Celiac came first - unless I had un dx'ed Hashis younger than 5. And hey, guess what, I must not have because none of my thyroid tests ever came up positive in my 20's. And since the tests are always right it must be fact. So won't bother you again. Go for it.
  13. Hopefully the light continues to get brighter. Good luck!
  14. Have you seen the movie Idiocracy? Yep. That's where it's headed.
  15. You know what makes me nervous about that questionnaire? The "3 grains" bit. Because I've eaten at a restaurant (a very high-end reputable Cekiac-safe one) where they wanted to serve me regular oats. And most people don't know that the other grains we hear about - spelt, etc. are varieties of wheat - therefore may think they are safe. Just my 0....
  16. Yes. I am at 1 year and just now experiencing GI symptoms from glutening. Previously, it was an ai attack - exhaustion, pain, stiffness.
  17. As a DH sufferer I can honestly say the threat of the rash (which itches like a sob) was enough to train me to read every label on every piece of food I was going to put in my mouth. Lists like you're asking for, to me, aren't accurate because there are gluten-free replacements for virtually everything, and stuff that should be naturally gluten-free isn...
  18. I'm sorry, I had to giggle. Do you know how many lancets and strips I wasted trying to learn how to properly stick my finger for glucose testing? Omg, I had blood everywhere and that damn meter still wouldn't read the sample. Finally, got the hang of it but wasted half the pack of lancets that were supposed to last a full week.
  19. Do you have a copy of the results ? Was it 3 or less?
  20. Have you read the Highlander series by Diana Gabaldon? The main female charachter is a nurse/doctor. And the male lead charachter is....yummy.
  21. Did you have any Celiac antibody blood work done? Was any of it positive? Most Celiacs need a comprehensive vitamin levels test: b's, D's, full iron panel, cal/mag, and k. If you are deficient you need additional supplamentation other than a prenatal multi - like you ate supplementing iron. You also may want to have your thyroid checked - tsh and...
  22. I read somewhere (that I can't remember at the moment) about how much of each type of glutenous food to eat. If I find it I'll post it. The other way to approach this is... Celiac is not JUST damage to the intestine. It's an autoimmune response, and intestinal damage is just a part of it. A little bit of gluten can trigger an ai response without damaging...
  23. Really? I wonder if the beer gives the rb a little extra somethin' somethin'??
  24. You can order lab tests without a doctor's appointment. There are online lab companies that send you the order and you take it to a local lab draw location, like LabCorp. There are also saliva tests for hormones, including thyroid. Open Original Shared Link The main problem will be treatment if you have a thyroid problem, which will require an rx...
