  1. Holy crap! Marilyn, where do you live??? I'm on my way over after you make those pickles!!! And Ken, next, we go to HI so start pickling NOW, please.
  2. Ouch! ICE PACKS. It stops the itch. And wear gloves for dishes and handling food - contact with food stops mine from healing, as well as too much washing dishes, etc.
  3. I think your doctor is wrong and you are probably Celiac. You may expect some elevation in tests from having another ai disease, but your doctor is incorrect to assume this is normal. You need a full vitamin work up - iron, b's, d, call/mag and k. And a new doctor??
  4. I suggest you go to the University of Chicago Celiac Center website and start reading - specifically the fact sheets. Just google it.
  5. In the States most of Tge research centers say between 2-3 months. It varies, and I don't think there are any studies showing what is optimum.
  6. You do realize 4 weeks is still under the 2-3 month threshold they usually recommend, right? I'm not trying to convince you not to do it. I'm just trying to make sure you have all the info.
  7. This might be interesting to you, too. https://www.celiac.com/articles/22483/1/Gluten-Can-Cause-GI-Symptoms-in-People-Who-Dont-Have-Celiac/Page1.html
  8. Honestly, if you have such strong positives, there's little doubt (especially with the results you've had gluten-free). It's one of those things... If you're ever going to doubt it, try it (though since you went gluten-free for a while, then back on, there's a chance it could get wonky). I wouldn't do it if you're going to be gluten-free for 6 weeks...
  9. I suggest you try going back on gluten for the test. See what happens. You may not be able to do it...and that's that. If you do and can, well, you'll feel even more secure about the results.
  10. Okay, I went back and read through your posts and I want to highlight a few things. You're anemic You have "stool in the colon" which may in fact be pockets of stool in fissures? You have evidence of fibroids You have fluid in your pelvic region You are hypothyroid, but don't know if you have Hashimotos disease You have low vitamin d that responds...
  11. How many samples did they take?
  12. It's interesting you have that on your palm. The first rash I had was when I was little -6? It was on my palm. They decided it was herpes whitlow - but it didn't do what whitlow usually does - spread to everyone and other places, and it wasn't on my finger tips. I never broke out that bad again, but saw little bumps several times - managed to baby them...
  13. Orange Meringue Kisses - 3 dozen Preheat oven to 250 F 4 egg whites 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. grated orange rind ( I used blood orange) 1 tsp. orange juice ( I used blood orange) 1 cup finely chopped pecans ( I used almond meal) Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy. Gradually add sugar. Beat until stiff. Fold in...
  14. I am looking forward to being a taste tester .
  15. Wasn't there something a while back about a beer that was gluten based, filtered, tested and tested ok but that was only on one type of test? If they tested something else they came up with gluten? I don't want to freak people out at all but am I imagining that thread? Could this be the same type of thing? EDIT: Ok, this is what I was thinking of.....
  16. The other possible culprit is your baking equipment. If you have scratched baking equipment or kitchen tools - gluten can hide in the scratches. You may try screening and tossing out/replacing some of the worst looking stuff and use parchment on cookie sheets. You also may just be going through a healing phase. When I first tried to eat gluten-free baked...
  17. I just checked and they do have a yellow mix, too. That chocolate is GREAT. I'm going to look for the yellow at Whole Foods next time... I think I looked last time but didn't see it.
  18. Gluten comes off with soap and hot water... I have some cookie sheets I could replace but since I put parchment on them for baking gluten-free stuff anyway, what's the point? I'll get around to it eventually.
  19. It depends. Can you thoroughly clean them? I scrubbed my pans with Bon ami and soap, sometimes with a toothbrush. Decorating items like push cylinders/frosting bags may be tougher. If you can scrub it, try it. If its dishwasher safe try that. I scrubbed my rolled-edge springform pans with a toothbrush and so far so good. If you have scratched surfaces...
  20. I didn't know that about Mike's. I loved those things - but just the first one. They always give (gave) me a headache. I think it's something else - not gluten, because I could drink a beer without a headache before gluten-free. Now I'm sure it would be gluten . Make your own lemonade and spike it. Yum yum!
  21. There are lots threads on here about this... But I think different things work for different families. It's hard to contain gluteny kids - they touch everything. My son is just now "getting it" after 1 year. The only time he gets gluten in the house is if they give candy at school, or my FIL gives him something he brings home (I did confiscate the Alien...
  22. I second the part about mineral makeup lasting forever. It really does. And it's fabulous for light complexions. And it's cooler than liquids - doesnt feel like a mask.
  23. I buy mine at Trader Joe's (which I know you don't have). The only raw or plain nut I can't get not processed on just a nut line is cashew. If you wante to mail you some I will. I don't know the pricing compared to nuts online but I can let you know next time I go. They are typically much less expensive than other places - so price + shipping may work...
