  1. Well, whaddya know - I found their stuff at Sunflower Market! Bought a box of the whole grain sandwich bread & roll mix. May try it tomorrow and make sandwiches. I now have Rudi's, found Glutino Genius Bread today (if I would have known I'd find this mix I would have passed) and Sun Flour. That's enough bread to last me 6 months!!
  2. Okay, there's a headline on CNN.com about this stuff: Open Original Shared Link And here's an article: Open Original Shared Link This about.com article discusses the enzyme itself shouldn't be a problem but the "product" can contain things that may be an issue. Open Original Shared Link This definitely looks like it can be a problem for milk intolerants...
  3. Yes - the heat is a month early. Supposed to be in the low 90's/80's by the end of the week. But it gets down in the 60's at night (at least right now) - so the mornings are very cool, as well as beautiful evenings.
  4. Hot dogs and potato salad (mashed potatoes for the kid), and fruit salad. If I would have thought this out I could have cooked the dogs on the sidewalk since it got up to 101 today!!!
  5. Too bad she didn't tell you that a loooonnng time ago. I wish my mother's dentist would be so smart...and tell her to get her butt tested.
  6. This is interesting Open Original Shared Link And this - although they only took an average of 2.8 samples per child. Open Original Shared Link and... Open Original Shared Link
  7. I'm sorry. Print out copies of the STUDY and article, fax them to his office and put a note on there that you fully expect him to test your child using the LATEST SCIENTIFIC METHODOLOGY. Then take more copies to the endoscopy. Look him in the eye and tell him you are going gluten-free and there will be no more testing after today and he'd better run...
  8. I know hubs is feeling romantic because he skips the gluten and beer and/or heads for the toothbrush. .
  9. Anyway...HAVE A GREAT DAY!

    COUGIE ;)

  11. You need to read about "normal" thyroid levels and different medications to try. Just my $0.02 since I deal with Hashimotos and Celiac. Many of us do, here. They mimic each other and can drive you up the wall. Don't dismiss thyroid as what is messing you up, just like you shouldn't dismiss cc. If the antibody testing you're referring to is Celiac it...
  12. Yes, soap and hot water. And as environmentally unfriendly as it is, in a shared kitchen disposable paper towels are quite handy. Stick scrubbies in the dishwasher daily. Change out dish rags daily. Threaten her life re: cc and crumbs.
  13. Get your thyroid checked. Tsh, thyroid antibodies and free t3/4. You may have Celiac and a thyroid problem -meaning whatever you're doing for your thyroid isn't working. My thyroid problems didn't completely vanish til I went gluten-free. Makes sense it can go the other way too. They do mimic each other. And there's always the chance you haven't...
  14. That's actually a decent article.
  15. I haven't found a good Saltine sub. Tried Schar - they look like Saltines but taste more like Ritz.
  16. Compare the ingredients in both and see what is in common. Anything stand out? The most obvious culprit is gluten, since you are the lone gluten-free in your house and you haven't been symptomatic. A gluten reaction doesn't have to be from what you are eating at the moment. I will get stabbing stomach pain for days after a glutening - when I know what...
  17. Print this out Open Original Shared Link If the derm does a biopsy ensure it is done properly.
  18. Well, if going back on gluten isn't possible (meaning you've noticed a difference in your body you attribute to gluten-free) you need to look into the posts in the DH section about salicylates and iodine. If your rash is DH, and it isn't receding gluten-free, then you probably have a secondary issue - perhaps one of those two. Yes, you must be eating gluten...
  19. Yep. I haven't been there in 10 years but heard its worse than ever - and I really don't see how they could have crammed more stuff in there...except in the marshy areas along the 101 - but evidently they did. Hubs goes back and describes some of the changes. Makes me shiver. I can't deal with that many people in one space. I worked in the City for a while...
  20. Same problem. I'll try it on the computer tomorrow. When the kids give it up...
  21. Well, it's hot as heck - 100. Supposed to get up to 106 over the next few days. Making chilaquiles tonight - may just drink smoothies or gazpacho the next few days. And it's fizzy fruit drink time - little but of fruit juice and a bunch of sparkling water....drink drink drink. Hot!!
  22. You're going to have to learn to screen your food much more carefully. Perhaps some Triumph dining cards would help? They are premade instructions you can show to restaurants so they can understand what you can and can't have. You seem to have a particularly obvious reaction. I don't envy you one bit. I tend to get a headache and then aches and/or upset...
  23. I've learned to freeze everything for smoothies...my favorite is leftover coffee to make my own iced coffee...which isn't really healthy but is good. I'll turn anything into a smoothie - just dump it in and turn it on and drink it. Cleaned out the freezer and tossed in all of my leftover fruit and added cranberry nectar. Yummy.
  24. Oh wow, you're going to have a very easy time finding a gluten-free personal chef. Also, there will be lots of organizations around there for volunteers, I'd think. PS, I used to live right there!!!
