  1. For those of you who are looking for mainstream gluten-free food (not a specialty label), this might help. I'm not feeling great, and hubs is due home tomorrow (with some bug he picked up in Germany and has now robbed him of his voice), wind is blowing allergens like crazy, Kid is snotty...you get the picture. Dark days for a gluten-free cook. So, what...
  2. Isn't GAPS/SCD Sibo friendly? I'm asking because I'm not sure.... If it is there are quite a few web sites out there with recipes.
  3. Yes and no. I can drink mint/lemongrass tea. But I can't eat those mints now. I found something a while ago about how peppermint oil used in food manufacturing is a blend of lots of stuff...and a number of people have a problem with it. So it may be the mint, but just processed mint oil? Oddly enough I'm ok with my Weleda salt toothpaste...
  4. You know, I've gotten pretty skeptical of gluten-free beers lately since the de-glutened stuff is out there. I found the gluten-free section at Total Wine and when I started seeing barley in the ingredients list I backed off and grabbed cider. Unfortunately, inthinkbim going to have to create a list on my phone of safe and not safe beers - so that when...
  5. You may have to look around for them. If all else fails try a drug store. Sometimes you see them at home improvement stores but I didn't see them at my grocery store. The food service gloves are plastic.
  6. Can you put the link to the post here?
  7. Really? So is this going to be a new test?
  8. Digestive enzymes and probiotics. And for a while I had c until I took supplaments for my vitamin deficiencies. Now I've discovered that they can almost give me d (I was off them for a while but now I'm back on) until i get used to them again...but there's definitely something about being on them that makes me regular. Off of them I don't have C, after...
  9. You may try using those food service gloves that are used in restaurants - I bought about a thousand of them at Costco for under $10. I bought them for food prep for my one hand with DH (that's finally healing) but I've found they are great if I need to quickly clean up gluten or touch things I'd rather not. They aren't very green, but for my particular...
  10. I haven't seen your rest results...but if they lean Celiac did you tell the doctor about them? And you must be on a gluten-filled diet for all testing -even DH. Unfortunately.
  11. Oooh. Not good. Well, if you are gassy you may try digestive enzymes with meals. That will help you digest your food better. I like Enzymedica products. Probiotics help, too. Screen all supplaments for gluten!!!! Are you eating milk products? You may consider dropping those for a while. Healing Celiacs can have trouble digesting milk temporarily...
  12. Peppermint is supposed to be an appetite suppressant - just smelling it. Read a study somewhere a longtime ago. I think lemon, too? I know mint works - when I mop I'm not hungry .
  13. Well, I'd make the fritters with what you know is safe and then try the coconut. Just my 0.02.
  14. You're welcome, I hope it helps. You don't have a salicylate problem, do you? That's the only coconut warning I know of. And you can use butter for frying. Ghee would be better, though. Coconut oil should work. And coconut flour isn't anything like coconut. Strange but true. I don't like coconut and I'm fine with the oil and flour.
  15. The next 6 months will be a roller coaster. One thing you need to watch is accidentally starving yourself because you don't have "safe" food near or with you. Learn to carry something with you at all times. Everyone's journey is different. But generally, the first 6 months is up and down - don't panic unless you start to see a pattern. Aaaaannnnddd...
  16. Use whatever you need to for this. You're going to make rice fritters or calas.... Mash the rice. Mix all ingredients together to form a thin batter and drop by a spoonfull into hot oil/ coconut oil. Fry til golden brown, drain on a towel, and dust with sugar ( or don't, but i recommend it). I know it isn't bread, but it is bread-like and yummy and...
  17. Can you have 1 cup cooked white rice 3 eggs 1/2 c any gluten-free flour or blend 1 tsp baking powder Cooking oil or lard ???????
  18. If you are to find hope, it's Gluten Free Girl and the Chef. She used to use xanthan but now doesn't...and she's very liberal with "substitute at will". So, visit her site and peruse and see what you can come up with. Open Original Shared Link And on not using xanthan Open Original Shared Link
  19. Well, I'd advise a thorough vitamin panel because that is usually associated with a vitamin deficiency in Celiacs - usually d or iron. I had it bad - couldn't handle heat or exercise. No stamina. I was huffing and puffing and sucking down electrolyte lemonade. If you are on meds that could be it, too. Could be thyroid.
  20. I wouldn't kill for a slice of bread - but OMG I pity the fool who eats a beignet in front of me. Y'all will read it in the papers - " Beignet Killer Stalks Jackson Square".
  21. Are you asking because you have a problem with endurance or are thirsty all the time? Are you experiencing muscle exhaustion without recovery?
  22. Just about anything, including a rock, is better than Ener-G. I like Rudi's Original (not Udi's). I also like baking from a mix - King Arthur is good. Someone reco'd Sun Flour mix to me and I'm going to try it.
  23. Gluten Eater. Though the other two work, also. Then there's Dead Bread Head for those who would "die without bread". Yeah.
  24. I ate Junior Mints like crazy when newly gluten-free. Guess what makes me sick now??? I can't figure it out since the factory is gluten-free. Happens with Andes Mints, too, which is made by Tootsie also. Haven't reacted to anything else so just don't know...but I feel your pain. I loved Junior Mints. And did I mention I had to get raging D from...
  25. I was at Whole Foods today and asked about the yellow mix. The guy said they aren't approved to sell it - I believe that applies to all stores, but anyway, just an FYI. I may order a box, since I'm not interested in perfecting a yellow cake recipe. I know, lazy - but I just don't bake with grains enough now to care. I generally do flourless stuff and...
