  1. I have better luck with vodka that isn't gluten based like Tito's or a sugarcane base. I'm ok with rums. Some I will sip over ice - like Ten Cane. Tequila is good for me, too. I'd get a margarita if it was handmade and not from a mix. Fresh lime, tequila, simple sugar, Cointreau/Grand Marnier. If they have a high quality tequila I'd just get a shot and...
  2. Definitely try cutting dairy out for a while. It's the culprit for a lot of people. And it is hard to get the trace gluten out of your life - it can take a few months. Seriously. Learning the diet isn't easy. If you find you continuously add weight, without eating food that should add weight (breads, pastas, sweets), then I'd request a full thyroid...
  3. Ifyou like Dr. Mercola, he did a little article that might help you understand where the doctor is coming from. Open Original Shared Link
  4. You need to find a new doctor. How are you being treated for the high thyroid test, I assume tsh?
  5. I don't know what granola you're eating but most are extremely high in sugars. High enough they make me want to vomit. So, that might be where you are getting the sugar fix that is stopping the cravings. Just a thought. If its homemade it's probably lower in sugar. Granola plus high protein yogurt would probably be a decent "fix" for some. And, if you...
  6. I agree. My DH was hormone aggrivated but not caused. Scrutinize your diet and see if something is in it that is glutening you, then try a low iodone diet for a while and see if that whacks down the DH.
  7. Seafood, ok shrimp, was actually ok for me. I could even eat a bit of sashimi... I would make that my "iodine of the day" but still...I could do both around 2 months. But seaweed, carageenan. Ut uh. It was my tipping point. And egg yolks. I think potato skins got me, too. Asparagus was a noticeable reaction too. Everyone is different.
  8. I didn't feel that "sick" til I looked back on it. Judging wellness, for a Celiac or person with any AI condition, is like asking a blind person to describe a color they've never seen.
  9. I was gluten-free 2 months before figuring out iodone. Did no iodine 2 weeks and healed. Started with adding back half n half for coffee. I added milk products back first since they were hard to sub. I went slow. Big itchies for me were seaweed products and egg yolks. It took me about 3 months to be able to handle a "load" like a 2 egg omelet, half n half...
  10. Do yourself a big favor. Tomorrow at the Naturapath request labs - full blood work up for Celiac. No stool testing, no in-office test. Full celiac panel from a lab like LabCorp. ND's can order those. That gets the Celiac bloodwork out of the way, no arguing or waiting. You'll probably have those labs back by the time you start making your specialists rounds...
  11. Okay, I called Gevalia. If anyone else calls just press 1. Talked with a nice lady that answered "no" to my question "Do Gevalia coffees contain wheat, barley, or rye gluten"? I then explained that a friend had sent a request through the website asking if their coffees were gluten-free and received a response they contain trace gluten. I then explained...
  12. Tostitos restaurant style (white corn) chips have the gluten-free symbol on the back - towards the bottom left? The Naturals line calls it out in words on the front, I think. Mission's 12 pack of white corn tortillas says gluten free in small bold letters near the ingredients. I haven't found all Mission tortillas to say it...
  13. Aside from what was said above, if your favorites all involve wheat flour, and assuming you bake and cook with wheat flour in the house, he can have a big problem. Flour flies and goes airborne, covers everything. You'll find a lot if people who live in split households (one gluten-free, others not) draw the line at having glutenous flours in the house...
  14. Tortilla chips are my crack. Used to be Junior Mints, but we had a falling out... Look, eating "clean" and "whole" isn't a strict rules-based ideology. Well, at least for me. Some people have rules - I just eat what works. My "guideline" is very little processed stuff and very little gluten-free grains. Of course, I can't control myself if...
  15. Take a super duper multi strain probiotic every day. Eat as much RAW fruit and veggies as you can. I say raw because you need every chance to repopulate your digestive system and raw will have more good bugs than cooked. Try kefir if you can stand it - you can buy it or make it. Drink kombachu if you like it. Cultured kimchee, sauerkraut, pickles.... You...
  16. You've had your tsh levels checked and Hashimotos antibodies checked, right???
  17. Oh, just a note about postpartum rashes. I had one in my chest after mastitis that was "unknown" or assumed to be yeast. Well, it lasted 8 months. I was on multiple rounds of yeast meds, antibiotics because my breasts continued to hurt (difficult to distinguish skin pain from tissue pain with swollen milk boobs). I stopped nursing (pumping, actually...
  18. I know how you feel but honestly, they'll be fine. Tell him to consider it foreplay .
  19. I have no idea. Best thing would be to ask your doctor before the procedure.
  20. Surely not . Hang in there, you'll figure it out.
  21. Bartfull is the corn expert. I think there was a corn post earlier, check there. Google salicylates for lists. Here's one I think us decent. Open Original Shared Link Amines - I don't have a link. Search this site for it. I know there were lots of posts at one time. Here's a link about nightshades - it's about arthritis but the list should work....
  22. I'll try to remember to do it tomorrow. Remind me if I don't post.
  23. Maybe so. I could see it coming from the flavored stuff...perhaps the plain gets cc'd. Or maybe it's corn. Who knows. But I'd like to know since coffee is the one thing I don't screen when out (aside from not ordering froofy drinks or flavored).
  24. When he comes home have him wash his face with soap and water and brush his teeth. Works for my husband...And since he works in flour I'd suggest a shower or at least an arm wash/clothing change. He's a walking flour bomb, probably. I did think I got glutened once after kissing hubs (he drank beer, brushed teeth, and we kissed all within 30 minutes)...
  25. Hmm...maybe this explains it. I think this is from 2009. Open Original Shared Link I guess the question should be the source of the gluten??
