  1. Evidently, pizza. Bought some KA pizza crust mix and am giving it a whirl. BTW if y'all want some good pizza combos try the ones from Pizzeria Bianco http://www.pizzeriabianco.com/menu.html. I ate there pre-gluten-free and it was divine. Anyhoo, what makes their pizzas so good (aside from the crust and the wood oven) are the combinations of flavors...
  2. I would wait for the biopsy report, since they are looking for microscopic damage. However, they do see damage...milk and soy are sometimes listed as alternative causes of damage on lab reports. If you had a positive serological test that was Celiac specific I'd say yes, you probably already have your answer. Glad you feel ok, hope the loopy goes away...
  3. I suggest reading some of the recent threads in the DH forum. There are many reasons why it could be happening, and lots of tips on how to cope. I hope your rash clears up soon, I know it's terrible to deal with.
  4. You might find these interesting: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I still can't find the link to the negative test rate article. I'll keep looking. Although if you read between the lines its easy to see how there's such...
  5. I am no longer satisfied with "less" unless I'm in a bind. If I'm going out to eat for pleasure I expect it to be pleasurable. That may sound a bit harsh but it's true. If I'm stuck away from home and need food - ok, I'll settle. But if I research and look for a good gluten-free meal (no freaking salads or pasta) and I show up and they pull the switcheroo...
  6. Yes, glass bottle and cranberry was my favorite. But ginger is great, too. I think they're all glass bottles?? Yeah, fear of a lethal science experiment keeps me from making my own .
  7. I think the difference is treating Celiac like an autoimmune disease vs. a digestion issue/stand-alone issue. I ignored the fact I was ai for years. It was evidently the wrong thing to do.
  8. ...and that's why I suggested you compare labels between what works and doesn't. And rice isn't glutenous but regular rice crispies contain barley malt - which is glutenous. I don't know what else they put in it. That said, regular rice crispies are relatively low on the gluten scale compared to a donut.
  9. Oh geez. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience; however, the thought of the reaction when you told her to google it does make me giggle. Well, if you said it with the tone I would have used - you know the one that implies "you're an idiot"... I'm sorry, but there are a lot of medical professionals that DESERVE to have their patients resort to The...
  10. Oh yeah. I am thrilled when a place only offers salads or pasta as a gluten-free option. Salads, I'm tired. And pasta - forget it. But the WORST experience I've had so far as far as a gluten-free offering goes was Dakota Cafe in Tucson - their online menu shows they make virtually the whole menu gluten-free. But when we arrived and were seated, the menu...
  11. But if you try to leave the park area and go to a store, etc. it is not. Unless they've built a store in the immediate zone it won't be easy or pleasant. Sorry, lived SoCal too long to be optimistic.
  12. Definitely call your hotel and ask about transportation to a grocery store as well as a fridge in your room. SoCal is not generally walking- friendly and the area around Disney is a veritable zoo.
  13. Hormones can definitely affect food cravings . I assume bcp = birth control pills? This is long and complicated, but I'll try to be brief. Celiac isn't a stand-alone disease. It comes with lots of stuff and is just a piece of the puzzle. Your body is complex. Going gluten-free probably helps resolve lots of issues, but you still have other...
  14. Funny you ask.... I love kambucha. I bought the brand made by the guy whose mom had cancer. seriously can't remember the name but it's been around a while. Anyway, I noticed the last few times I drank it it really hurt my stomach. Same thing happened to my mom. I used to LOVE that stuff. I purposely drank one per day after I had a problem...
  15. I find most Mexican restaurants are blessings as well as curses. The food should be gluten-free, but isn't because of flour in sauces and shared fryers (frying flour tortilla products). You need to ask El Torito about the ingredients, if you haven't already. Also, did you eat chips or drink anything? Cheap margaritas (ones made with the stuff in...
  16. Egg intolerance with Celiac is not unusual. Are you buying egg whites in a carton? Sometimes they have stuff added that may cause some people issues.
  17. Tomorrow (when clean and on my computer instead of phone) I'll post some links I found. Mostly, I have no idea what they mean...but they are interesting. I'm pretty sure the fact that you've been gluten-free for 4 months (right?) invalidates the test since they are looking for iga which falls quickly. INTERESTINGLY, it appears other antibodies (subsets...
  18. I have no idea if topicals would invalidate a biopsy or blood test, but I would assume it would. I don't know for how long, I assume it would depend on dose and length of use. I'd guess a few months would be the guideline, since it supposed to help send ai into remission (similar to going gluten-free). Think about it, they treat refractory Celiac with...
  19. Topical , oral, and injectable steroids will invalidate Celiac testing.
  20. My dad is the pastry chef. Ain't gonna work. He's not really a pastry chef but that's his role. All of their friends have these big dinners and he's the dessert guy. He simply will NOT go there. My mom is going to start gluten-free soon, after some testing. Or that's what she says. We are both pretty sure that's at least one thing behind her problems...
  21. It's quite possible he has candida. You hear about how symptoms have a lot in common, and candida can be quite nasty. My dad has several odd rashes. Derms don't know what they are. He has slathered creams in them for decades. Sound familiar??? Yes, his head is firmly placed inside his buttocks, which are both somewhere south of the Nile.
  22. Here is some information about lactose intolerance: Open Original Shared Link Perhaps organic raw grass fed cows milk is lower in lactase?
  23. There can be false positives on a blood test. Read here. Open Original Shared Link Regarding the ability of a person with a gluten issue being able to eat any glutenous grain, even organic or heirloom, the answer is sadly "no". Glutenous grains are glutenous grains. Period. Humans have been altering their "natural" form since cultivation began. Unless...
  24. There's no reason it couldn't be. Find a dermatologist that is knowledgeable about biopsying for DH and get one.
