  1. Duh. Okay. I was looking all over the page. If I understand the rules correctly there are different rules for food and body care, and it looks like the hydrolyzed wheat protein can be used in body care and be called gluten-free in the U. S. Just like the degerminated wheat germ oil. Rolling my eyes... Its rather irrelevant since it also contains...
  2. Has oats in it too. Where is the gluten-free part?
  3. You'll never prove it but my guess (and where the research is trending) is that a problem with gluten contributes to thyroid disease, particularly Hashis. People go gluten-free to LOWER TPO. I don't have any advice other than to beg your parents to get copies of all labs so far, and as soon as you're 18 get to a doc that will try you on thyroid meds...
  4. Good luck and keep us posted.
  5. If you're newly gluten-free it could be anything. You're on a roller coaster for the next 6 months. I like Digest Gold enzymes and a probiotic.
  6. This is one of my favorites. Open Original Shared Link For the crock pot brown it well, and add drippings to the pot.
  7. We're you gluten-free prior to the first and second tests? For how long?
  8. Everyone has a different idea of family stuff... I've had best luck not trying to "convert" meals but just prepare without gluten. So lots of roasted, baked, grilled meats and veggies. I also like dirty rice, and my steak and gravy and roux recipes convert easily with one change - sweet rice flour instead of wheat flour. If you have a new gluten...
  9. Ok, remind me of what tests you had, when, results, and why they retested (sounds like they retested...but maybe I'm missing something). Do I remember you had high TPO and high TSH?
  10. Cigarettes. Debate if its natural... Actually, I think its the nicotine: Open Original Shared Link I read a blog somewhere about a woman with multiple AI problems. An occasional cigarette improved her life tremendously.
  11. Teach him to swallow? I finally got my son (9) to start swallowing D3 (they are small gelcaps). I don't know of a small iron pill, though. Country Life is gluten-free, if you want to try the swallow route. So is Solgar. I did start getting nasty tasting vitamins that he didn't like the taste of (even kiddie version) in a daily fruit smoothie. I make...

    ARCHIVED Why, Oh Why?

I think there should be a Celiac Medical Scholarship Fund. We could grow our own?
  13. Trader Joe's has one that's "no gluten ingredients". I know I saw one mainstream brand, will try to find it...
  14. I'm in the states and we don't usually see wheat starch listed as gluten-free (I never have) - I think it's still "wheat", therefore listed as a big 8 allergen. However, there are a few body care lines that sell degerminated wheat oil products and call them gluten-free or "gluten sensitive safe". To me, its the same animal, different stripes (wheat starch...
  15. Is he in school/preschool/daycare? I assume he leaves the house and goes to the grocery store with you, etc.? Plays with non-gluten-free kids? All of those are opportunities for him to get into it. Or sneak it. Or for someone else to give it to him... If he's a finger- sucker (what kid doesn't have some habit that involves putting something in the mouth...
  16. I had stomach issues when I was a kid. Ulcers at 9, stomach aches at 18 (and more ulcers). Weird stomach cramping/D in my mid 20's. Abdominal pain in late 20's (suspected endometriosis). After my son was born - nada, except I'd get stomach "bugs" easily and mysteriously eat something "bad" once in a while. But, my thyroid tanked. Got thyroid meds. Thyroid...
  17. Bugs dont freak me out....EXCEPT COCKROACHES/PALMETTO BUGS. A side effect from a FL childhood. Had one crawl up my leg once and I will never ever forget that..., And do y'all know what one smells like when you crush it?? Amaretto. The first time someone served me amaretto I almost vomited on the spot. Aside from that, bugs don't bug me. Neither do spiders...

    ARCHIVED Why, Oh Why?

I don't know how to make the wiggly faces on the phone so imagine one laughing, here. Its not funny, but it is something I smile about to keep from crying about... And I salute you, with a shot of Ciroc vodka...because it is very fine, made from grapes of wine...oh lookey, I made a rhyme!
  19. I believe that's what at least one link suggests. I know its difficult to consider but there may also be a "yet to appear" autoimmune condition brewing. I am guessing only time will tell.
  20. This is older, but may be relevant. Open Original Shared Link Assuming I'm reading correctly, the Ttg is a kit and there are different manufacturers. Kit difference? You really need someone with scientific training to read this...or just not ME. Open Original Shared Link
  21. I have no answers other than perhaps he's getting gluten outside your watch OR that's just "normal" for him OR one of the other autoimmune conditions hasn't manifested but is still there (as ai is known to do). Did he test + on any other Celiac tests? Is the Ttg a measurement of gluten presence? I think It is a measurement of intestinal damage...so...
  22. Ask for a DH biopsy. Ask for two, it will up the odds of a + result. Worst thing is it is negative. But don't let the derm talk you out of the test by saying its something else. Insist on it.
  23. That sucks. Sorry. Sucks even more that the beans test +, because that was my brand. I have a hard time id'ing glutenings....I may trend more like you and get general autoimmune reactions and feel kind of flu-like. My rash flares if I get repeat exposure or lots of iodine. Last time my rash flared badly I felt awful all over - the rash made me ache...
  24. If you can do peanut butter try a pbj sandwich (gluten-free bread, of course) and apple. Also, most airports list restaurants online, so try looking up the airport and the restaurants.
