  1. Sounds like me with In N Out. And I so get the ketchup thing...my son slathers it in ketchup.
  2. You need a massage and don't carry a heavy backpack or carry it alternately in each hand. Try stretching. Gentle stretching. Your bm's are typical of a struggling system especially if you don't (even subconsciously) want to have one because it hurts. Eat fiber, water and DIGESTIVE ENZYMES AND PROBIOTICS. Pre thyroid meds digestive enzymes helped me...
  3. I came in when they were all in the grocery store. Was it before that?
  4. If someone asks this question in June I doubt any of you will be jealous. You know, when its 102+???
  5. I watched it (or most of it, I think it started early). Yes, it was incomplete. Yes, Oz called it an "allergy" once. Yes, EH is annoying (but not as much as usual). But overall it was great to see it out there - but why was it under "The #1 Secret for You to Lose Weight" title???? Btw I loved the villi video!
  6. Yes, it's called a TPO antibody test for Hashimotos. If its +, its a strong link to Celiac.
  7. I'm taking my son to Science Night at school, where they are serving Domino's Pizza. So I will be having leftover spaghetti sauce with gluten-free pasta! And he will be hosed down prior to re-entry!
  8. I'm not self dx'ed (it's complicated), but I haven't had testing. Anyhow, the reason my ND suggested a gluten-free trial was because I have Hashimotos which is a THYROID disease. Have any of those lovely ladies in your family had a TPO test to see of they have Hashimotos Thyroiditis?
  9. Well, feel free to visit....and not to take advantage, but could you cook while you're here??
  10. I wish I had an answer for you. I looked and looked for a meal planning site that used "whole foods" but nada. My advice is a good crockpot book. Screen it carefully because lots of them put some nasty crap in the recipes. I think there's a free site that's gluten-free called "365 crockpot" or some such. Another one I like is Mark Bittman's books -...
  11. Oh he deserves it. I think of a brain on gluten like a drunk... You can try to reason with them but you're better off waiting til theyre sober. It's hard waiting for results. Harder to figure out what to do with them if they are inconclusive.
  12. My son had a full Celiac panel done and had vitamin deficiencies. Sometimes in kids that's all you get. Its a trial. If there's a difference we'll go from there. Sometimes you just can't sit there and watch, wondering. I can't ignore his behavior and keep grounding him if he's having a neuro reaction. It just isn't right or fair. That said, he's...
  13. I'm sorry you and your daughter had such a hard time. Parental guilt sucks. Don't beat yourself up. You absolutely did the right thing by having her tested...and she will forgive you. One thing you must do on the gluten-free route is to not give up. If you see health changes going gluten-free you're on to something. You may have other intolerances...
  14. My son was assumed to be milk protein intolerant. I thought soy, too. He was on breastmilk (I was milk, soy free - I hated life) and Nutrimiagen. So far he tests - for Celiac, but does have some low vitamin levels. We will trial gluten-free/df next month. Hubby was milk protein intolerant, too, as a newborn. Stepson has a milk allergy he has not outgrown...
  15. 72 F. I'll shut up now.
  16. I was great til 5 1/2 months. I honestly think I was glutened, though - one big one. Then several small ones (eating out). I did discover taking Claritin (half dose) helped get rid of some symptoms I was unsure were gluten or allergies. My allergies had been great gluten-free, though, til that point. I wonder if getting glutened triggered them? I...
  17. That would be great but I've found it goes something like dx'ing Celiac.... The mouth piece is what my hubs had a long time ago for teeth grinding..of course, he needed major dental work directly after he got it so it no longer fit. I have had mouth pieces suggested by doctors - the first things they suggest are side sleeping, allergies, devices, seperate...
  18. There is a study about serological + but biopsy - people going gluten-free and seeing benefit. I posted a link here a whole ago. I'll try to find it. One thing to remember is that you can have "damage" to your villi/intestines and not be called Celiac. Celiac is a particular type and degree of damage (this is best explained by someone else). So, you can...
  19. I've done the side thing but he has a hard time (shoulder injury) AND he snores on his side (so do I). We're quite the pair.
  20. I'd go with 1. What few people address (and this is a flaw in how we dx ailments) is that the testing for Celiac is not perfect, and there isn't a test at all for NCGI. The medical community really doesn't know WHAT NCGI IS, or what it DOES. For some reason, with NCGI, there is the thought that gluten makes you sick by ingestion but causes no harm...
  21. gluten-free house (except beer and a box of oat cereal). I'm the Celiac. I'm the cook. Hubs travels so he gets plenty of gluten away from home. Kid eats lunch at school and when we're out... Kid isn't a "bready" kid...so he doesn't miss it and doesn't need junk food. Hubs loves bread but gets it elsewhere. I've found enough "junk" or alternative...
  22. Okay, I had started developing aches and pains and insomnia. Don't ask which came first, because I don't know... Well, hubby travels frequently (but was home for December)....and left for a week long trip Monday. Every day I have felt better. I have slept longer and deeper each day. I feel like a new person. We both snore, but his snoring wakes me...
  23. If you live near a Whole Foods, big natural foods store, or Barnes & Noble go by and browse. I am very picky about my cookbooks...and although Amazon gives me ideas I am usually disappointed if I don't screen it first.
  24. Yes, I know that. They are so contaminated I won't consider them gluten-free unless so stated, though. Sorry, should have been clearer.
