ARCHIVED Food Stealers At Work
pricklypear1971 replied to tictax707's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think you should overly package your food before putting it in there. Mark it "FECAL SPECIMEN". -
Yes, I do. Thought of emailing. I may do it.

ARCHIVED Lupin Flour Can Improve Nutritional Value Of Muffins, Study Finds
pricklypear1971 replied to kenlove's topic in Publications & Publicity
I didn't say that Europeans are "wrong". Just chimed in on the horse bit and remarked that in a lupine-rich area, I'd never heard of people eating them. Good lord, if everyone ate like Americans, the world would be in trouble. I'd try something made with it - but not if I had peanut allergies. -
ARCHIVED Update: Sciatic Nerve Vs Planters Fasciitis
pricklypear1971 replied to AVR1962's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think my upper pain (back) was due to how I compensated for the PF. One foot was much worse than the other. The pain definitely started in the foot/Achilles. I can't say too many good things about the spiney purple things. I step on those things (the purple boobies, as I call them) and they just press all the right buttons. I wear these great sandals... -
ARCHIVED How Long Until gluten-free Diet Helps My Symptoms?
pricklypear1971 replied to abbycat1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Are you eating milk products? Lots of Celiacs have issues digesting it, either temporarily as they heal or permanently. Give it a whirl. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Diet Differences
pricklypear1971 replied to tennisman's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, it sucks that you don't have an answer. But great if they don't think it's Lupus or AS. I'm sure if you post more about your stomach issues, or the elimination diets you've tried others here can chime in. Its amazing what people recognize around here. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Diet Differences
pricklypear1971 replied to tennisman's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, Celiac is known to cause problems in odd places. I don't see why other conditions (especially autoimmune) can't do the same. Are they testing you for autoimmune conditions or conditions related directly to the stomach and back? I'm sorry you aren't improving. Its exhausting to work so hard at feeling better, only to have it not work. -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Pancreatic Cancer
pricklypear1971 replied to Roda's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm so sorry, Roda. Yes, its hard not to look for the "why" when it comes to Cancer. Hang in there, take it one day at a time. Vent as needed. -

I'm sorry. I understand what you're going through - though in reverse. I was dx'ed with Hashimotos about 7 years ago and meds helped for a while but then it all crashed down from 'ya know - gluten. All those weird ubresolved Hashis symptoms - gluten. Seven years of my body being torn apart from something else - leaving me with lots of damage. So... -
ARCHIVED Update: Sciatic Nerve Vs Planters Fasciitis
pricklypear1971 replied to AVR1962's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Remember those spiky purple things, the ones you step on, that I told you about? They are perfect for plantar fasciitis. I had it from Hashimotos. Or was that Celiac? There's a strong relation between thyroid and plantar fasciitis. Mine was bad. Pain all up my back, left shoulder to my foot. Don't wear flip-floppy shoes or anything that doesn... -
ARCHIVED Lupin Flour Can Improve Nutritional Value Of Muffins, Study Finds
pricklypear1971 replied to kenlove's topic in Publications & Publicity
Most horses are smart enough to not eat it. I grew up in NE TX. Lots of lupines there. They don't like traffic (where horses graze regularly) and horses don't eat them. At least mine didn't. Never heard of people using then for food, there. Then again, the Bluebonnet is the state flower and you aren't supposed to pick it. -
ARCHIVED Dapsone - Miscellaneous Questions
pricklypear1971 replied to teebs in WV's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Have you tried lowering your iodine intake? Some DH sufferers are sensitive to it, and it makes DH flare. Google "thyca" for details on a low iodine diet. -

They are good - meaning I could tell I was taking them. I also developed a raging rash... Oh well. -
Well, after all of these great reviews, here I sit at Red Robin @ Tucson Mall. And they DON'T have gluten-free buns. So, I'm a bit bummed.

ARCHIVED Inconclusive Test Results For Celiac
pricklypear1971 replied to CJC's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Instead of bulking up on gluten (since you suspect this might be an issue), try probiotics and digestive enzymes. I'm not suggesting going gluten-free prior to testing, but if all of the whole wheat goodness isnt helping try something that might... -

Well, I'm glad you found a doctor you like. I hope you have an interesting weekend - something to keep you distracted. Maybe you'll be so busy at work you won't have two minutes to think. You could keep yourself very entertained by trying to come up with a well - rounded week of Vegan meals. Sorry, I would have giggled at that one and made the doc angry... -
ARCHIVED Bread Recipe Please
pricklypear1971 replied to Chrissyb's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Gluteny breads would say roll it in oil (oil in a big bowl, roll the ball of dough around in it). Since gluten-free breads usually go in the pan, rise once, then bake - id just put a light layer of oil over the top surface where the wrap will hit. The goal is to create a seal, and stop the wrap from sticking. You can use any neutral oil - safflower, etc... -

ARCHIVED Bad Acne- What Should I Be Looking At? Help!
pricklypear1971 replied to MitziG's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think its a progestin, and if the natural progesterone will help - I don't know. I *think* adding estrogen isn't a good thing if you responded to a progestin. Some people are very sensitive to estrogens - you just have to try eliminating some and see. Lavender is another. Both are found quite a bit in "natural" body care. There are many others -soy,... -
ARCHIVED Bad Acne- What Should I Be Looking At? Help!
pricklypear1971 replied to MitziG's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If your acne is hormone sensitive, what hormone did your bcp have in it? Tea tree oil is highly estrogenic, btw. You might try natural progesterone cream and see what happens. -
ARCHIVED Environmental Allergies?
pricklypear1971 replied to pricklypear1971's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Nope. No pine nuts and no gin (ugh!). Juniper/Cedar are in the same family. We do live closer to Juniper now (mountains) and I have had horrible reactions to it before...so that may be it. Plants do odd things in the mountains/desert and it's unseasonably warm right now, so who knows. I swear its dust, too. -
ARCHIVED Environmental Allergies?
pricklypear1971 replied to pricklypear1971's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Juniper is the only thing I could find on pollen.com. If its cross reactivity (wow, never heard of that before. Jeez) it would be obscure stuff like olives - and I know I didn't use olive oil yesterday (migraine). If its grasses it could be lots of stuff I eat regularly, which really sucks. I always notice my allergies are worse when it's dry. And now... -
ARCHIVED Environmental Allergies?
pricklypear1971 replied to pricklypear1971's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Ok, ended up with a migraine last night. So now I'm taking Tylenol and Claritin. And my eyes are super-sensitive and look like veiny red throbbing Halloween decorations. Used Naphcon this morning. Seriously??? Is this something in the air or is it food??? Checked pollen info and Juniper is high right now in my area. Would make sense. Fall was...
