  1. I have a very similar reaction to chips. I had to cut iodized salt, nightshades, and corn/corn oil (which is also in iodized salt) which all tend to be a risk in chips. Seaweed is high in iodine.
  2. What exactly makes you think you're intolerant to fat? Just asking since many Celiacs have fatty stools and it makes some people think their bodies don't like fat, which is not the case. I'm also a reformed dairy addict. I'm intolerant, but can't figure out if it's the lactose. I just know I do tolerate kefir, which is 98% lactose free. It's not allowed...
  3. Like Alex said-- go for histamine intolerance. It has a high likelihood of being unpredictable, weird, and easy to fool Drs.
  4. I strongly agree with Adelaide! I didn't want to believe it at first, but you can have multiple diet-related conditions. I think if the Celiac condition comes first, we're so happy to have an answer to our health questions, we're convinced it's the ONLY answer. Many people with mastocytosis don't tolerate soy, eggs, wheat, rye, barley, or poultry that...
  5. I'm a witness that gluten in supplements still cause harm. The sublingual vitamins often work out as grain free.
  6. Many of these symptoms are also symptoms of mastocytosis.
  7. You may have already found the low-histamine & tyramine diet recommended for people with mast cell disorders and others, but here it is: http://www.mastocytosis.ca/MSC%20HT%20Restricted%20Diet%20Nov2012.pdf Note that it's a good starting point. Most people find they have to customize their diet to look a lot like this one plus a few adjustments...
  8. I've been in your shoes too. I hope you figure it out soon. The Naked drinks have cross contact with barleygrass, which is in the Green one I believe. Some ppl say it doesn't bother them, but I don't tolerate barley or wheat grasses. I let go of the Naked drinks about a year and half into the gluten-free diet. It wasn't obvious at first, but they...
  9. After an initial blissful period of eating gluten-free products, I gradually became intolerant to other grains. Corn and oats commonly get complaints from Celiacs though.
  10. I found the Paleo diet to be a good starting point for the elimination diet. The most common culprits are already off of the Paleo diet.
  11. There is a diagnostic tool online that explains the rules for mastocytosis diagnoses. I had the skin biopsy, however I have symptoms far beyond cutaneous... so I'm still under testing and eval. My diet is outrageously limited due to GI problems and about 40 other symptoms. That's just me though...like I said, remember each person is different. There is...
  12. The alcohol intolerance is a symptom of mastocytosis. Mastocytosis isn't the same as being histamine intolerant. Ironically, it's a lot like comparing Celiacs to ppl with gluten intolerance. Also, the lists of symptoms for each are long, but it's not as if every patient has every symptom.
  13. I'm trying N-acetyl-glucosamine (NAG) in combo with other treatment for GI allergies and a low- histamine diet. I'll be sure to follow up with how it all works out. The NAG may help allow lectins to pass through the gut without wreaking havoc.
  14. Just the skin test so far....more tests to come.
  15. I am and have always been intolerant to alcohol, fermented foods, vinegar, cheese, etc.
  16. I meant to say certified PASSOVER alcohol is grain free, sorry about that!
  17. Quite a few people on this thread have symptoms of mastocytosis or histamine intolerance. Please note the low histamine diet: Open Original Shared Link
  18. This pattern is very common among people with mastocytosis.
  19. Just in case: people with mastocytosis are completely intolerant to all alcohol and fermented foods/drinks. Another tip: kosher alcohol is grain free.
  20. I used to have high blood pressure. It was "cured" when I stopped eating iodized salt. I only eat sea salt or kosher. The improvement was from either: A. I am severely intolerant to corn...learning that there is corn in iodized salt gave me one more way to avoid it. B. people with mastocytosis are often intolerant to iodine, so the iodine could have...
  21. I am also severely intolerant to corn, including corn derivatives. I was recently diagnosed with mastocytosis. I follow a Paleo diet meshed with the low histamine diet. I closely watch the corn allergy sites though, since there's a lot of hidden corn out there. However, note that I had to let go of the entire grass family, including cane sugar. Corn...
  22. TH may want to comment or start another topic, but be sure to do the 24hr urine tryptase test. I believe MCAD patients commonly will not test positive for mastocytosis, but will have signs of it, such as having high tryptase levels. The only difference between the 2 is that mastocytosis shows the patient has too many mast cells (somewhere, and not necessarily...
  23. The low histamine diet is tough, but again remember, people with histamine intolerance disorders or mast cell disorders usually have custom diets. The typical low-histamine diet is high in FRESH poultry, melon, squash, green leafy vegetables (except spinach), sea salt, flower herbal teas (no black or green tea, no caffeine, most teas are not allowed), cacti...
