Lidocaine works just fine for me when the dentist injects me properly. That is very interesting though.

ARCHIVED What Brand Of Pasta Do You All Buy?
Adalaide replied to CommonTater's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I buy a rice macaroni in bulk (I get the unopened boxes) for something like $1.25 a pound. It is every bit as good as Tinkyada. I was getting penne the same way at an ever so slightly higher price but it just doesn't hold up real well. I think I'm switching to those quinoa pagoda thingers in the blue box. I tried some last month when they were on sale and... -

Party? Cake? I'm on my way! Or we can party at my house. There is a hot tub in the back yard. One I can not use because when I get out my blood pressure take a nose dive off a cliff and I pass out. I have no idea what I'm going to make for dinner. I was going to make a roast but didn't think to get it out of the freezer until yesterday so I guess... -

I should just come live with you. You always have chocolate and I always have somewhere to pack in the chocolate. I decided on corn spoon bread with our burgers. I left out the green onions because my husband doesn't like them. Turns out he doesn't like corn spoon bread at all! -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Goldfish Crackers!
Adalaide replied to kareng's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would... if I did 6 am! I'm more of a 9 am kind of person though. I'm pretty sure they won't sell out in 3 or 4 hours on a Monday morning so I have time to roll lazily out of bed and mosey on down there. I'll probably only buy them once to be sure I like them and then know I have something I can use as a day snack when I spend whole days up in the city... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Goldfish Crackers!

So, I finally got someone on the phone at Target who has a clue. (Yeah, I've been harassing them. So?) He says that the delivery is coming in overnight tonight and they are also setting up the display overnight tonight and that they'll have the fish in the morning when the store opens right by the doors. I know what I'm doing tomorrow morning. -
ARCHIVED I Can't Believe That Just Happened......
Adalaide replied to ~**caselynn**~'s topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I actually think the problem with the co-worker is that they are a piss-poor advocate for their own health and the gluten free community as a whole. Distinguishing between people with celiac and NCGS in terms of diet, compliance, and how they eat is not only unproductive but destructive to our community. There are many here who are diagnosed NCGS who... -

I have managed today to hobble around enough to water my garden and get a second load of laundry into the washer so far. I discovered that much to my surprise and although pineapple should be safe from a tyramine standpoint, that last night it made me pretty instantly half blind. And I thought I was testing my histamine limits! Joy. I think for dinner... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Equals A Lonely Life
Adalaide replied to BZBee's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
With family the only thing I can suggest is pulling aside the person most likely to make sure it gets around and making sure they know that you want to be included. I think part of the problem can sometimes be that they feel awkward because they make assumptions about how it must be for you. Clearing the air on this will be the best way to make sure that... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Non Food Products
Adalaide replied to eblue's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
OMG hair products are the root of all evil for gluten. Seriously. I eventually gave up calling people because every product I ever loved either has gluten, or has some stupid company that treats us like complete crap and I won't give my money to them. (The "you won't eat our shampoo and besides we have propriety stuff blah blah blah.." Well no crap I won... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Non Food Products

For hand soap we keep Softsoap in the house for kitchen and bathrooms. I just get one each of a certain kind I like and a huge refill thing and keep refilling all the little ones til its out. Then I decide if I want to change smells or not. I'm too lazy to go check my hand sanitizer, but I think its name brand something or other. *shrug* I use EOS... -
I know this doesn't really help anyone outside my area unless they are traveling, but I discovered a great place today. While I was at the local gluten free fair my husband won a gift certificate for a place called Wallaby's which is a local BBQ joint. I've driven past it about a billion times but never thought of stopping in, thinking they couldn't possibly...

Pharmaceutical companies pay doctors to promote their drugs. This is a fact which is supported through the fact that there is complete visibility of this. I have seen my (previous) doctor's kickbacks on this. When he made it clear that he was interested in prescribing only name brand drugs, not things there were even generics for, for a medical condition...

The study does state though that they have full remission of symptoms. So if they a very small amount of unrecovered physical scarring, which is basically what a single study is pointing to, then I don't see the problem. That is like saying that 90% of burn victims have scars. Well no s$#& Sherlock. Another problem with any study of this nature is that...

Open Original Shared Link From the "take home messages" of this study: "It is not uncommon to find a raised intraepithelial lymphocyte (IEL) count with normal villous architecture in the duodenum" This means that of the "(65%) had 'remission' with persistent intraepithelial lymphocytosis" that saying that they aren't healed is clinically irrelevant...

I also agree with this so much. When they say "I'm sorry" or "that's terrible" they get this look on their face like you just told them you have a terminal illness too. That is what drives me up a wall. I smile and tell them that I'm not and that being diagnosed is the best thing that ever happened to me, which really is true because I feel better than ever... -

I should just come live with you. Ruebens sound amazing. Okay, so I shouldn't eat fermented things but... omg sauerkraut!!! (I also spelled that right without spellchecker so hah!) I'll take a pass on the oysters and wasabi though. Yes, damn bugs! Get feeling better. And don't be bringing those things around here. They give me the heebie jeebies... -

So, today is Summerfest. This means that there is a huge carnival on Center Street in the middle of the city making driving a horrible nightmare. Lucky me I only live 8 blocks away. Woohoo! So, off to that this afternoon sometime for tornado fries and who knows what else that I shouldn't be eating/drinking. Then a late evening dinner at Wallaby's I think... -
Bahahaha! She says she just got her website up and running but the link isn't on her facebook page yet. I'll harass her on Monday about it and then send you for donuts! Then you can be a little less jelly donut and a little more eating donuts. Or eating jelly donuts.
-
Okay, I have to share this because I can't believe what happened. We all say we try this things that are amazing right? Well I had a donut today that was absolutely to die for. My husband said he wouldn't have known it was gluten free. OMG I thought I would die of happiness as it melted in my mouth! I brought a mix home and can't wait to make them. I...

It is possible that a particular type of lettuce in a salad blend doesn't agree with you. Or that something in the dressing doesn't agree with you. It is also possible (even though it is a rare occurrence with how many are sold every day) that bagged salads could be contaminated with some sort of bacteria. I eat bagged salads without concern, I have no desire... -
