  1. I'm supposed to be making chicken for supper, but after my hour getting mint I totally forgot to get chicken from the freezer before I came to get my wits back. Yes, between my two mint plants that have definitely become bushes, it took an hour to get them both down to regular plant size again. I think I can double my fudge recipe and have leftover Moroccan...
  2. So I guess I was either a bum or a cat today. Tonight is burgers and fries and some sort of vegetable-y type of thing.
  3. I have almost bought the baguettes like a bazillion times. Well, maybe it only feels like a bazillion times. I'm going to a store tonight that I know sells them to get chocolate for ice cream. It may take some arm twisting but if I compromise and spend less than say... $7 on my chocolate I may be able to talk a baguette into the cart. I almost said spend...
  4. this is what I did all afternoon
  5. Now that it has been all day and I had a nap and don't want to strangle anyone at the moment, I can share what happened with the moronic doctor I fired today. I've been having a problem with my vision that is almost certainly medical in nature, not an actual vision problem. So I go off to the doctor last week, and today was just follow up from blood...
  6. When my oldest daughter was 6 she chased me around my mother's yard with a snake. I was probably shrieking like a little girl, all I actually remember was the panic. I ran in the house and my mother forbid her to bring the snake in the house. What is up with little girls and snakes? EWWW!!!!
  7. Look on the bright side, at least chipmunks aren't a rabies risk. So, it could be worse I guess. And yes, the visual of you running across your yard with scissors is quite hilarious. I needed a laugh today. (Not just because it is a bad day, but because I'm at the end of a book I've read before and I know what happens and I'm about to lose a very dear...
  8. I know you said you sent an email to the company, but you could just call. The number listed on their site is 800-800-4793 and you can prevent sitting around waiting until Monday if they don't get back to you by the end of the day today. Sometimes it is better just to make the phone call because piece of mind is worth whatever time it takes up.
  9. The liners are awesome, I love them for when I just don't feel up to being able to clean up after myself. I never saw a metal crock pot insert, but I can see how it would be convenient. I just do my meat on the stove if I want to sear it before I throw it in the pot, it only takes a few minutes and it isn't a big deal to wash a pan. Open Original Shared...
  10. WOOO!!! Happy Anniversary! Yes, you guys do look amazing in your photo. And we are all so very blessed to have men who are still here after all this nonsense. Have fun tonight! Last night I didn't make dinner plans and when I was standing in the pantry staring at thing my husband could tell I had something stuck in my head. He wouldn't let it go...
  11. Some pharmacists will check this for you, most will not. They simply do not have the time. On top of that, frankly, I do not trust them to check for me because they are not familiar with the questions to ask, the "lingo" or the particular key scary things to listen for while the customer service person on the phone spouts off. I have said before to people...
  12. Karen hit the nail on the head. The proposed guideline is 20ppm but that has been proposed for so long that it is practically archaic at this point. Companies could start testing things for 20 ppm of rat poison and listing that on the labels, but just because it has under 20 ppm of something doesn't mean it has any at all. Sure, it could have 19, it could...
  13. There is an awesome website, gethuman.com which has phone numbers for a ton of companies. I use it all the time when I need a number for a company that doesn't have it listed on their website. The number is also on all of their packages so its easy to grab if you happen to be in a store. Since I happen to have it handy, their number is 888-737-7374. I...
  14. The only concern I would have may be what you are already thinking of since you mention being worried about doing this if you have had a bad glutened day. That concern would be cash handling in a not so "there" mental state. This is something you can discuss with your manager with you note in hand to see how best to tackle it. There is of course an inherent...
  15. I do have pineapple mint but I got it later than the others so it isn't a beastly thing yet like the other two. I also don't drink, which I'm sure leaves some thinking it is wasted! I'm thinking it'll make wonderful melon salads all summer. Right now I'm thinking that the most appealing thing to do with that freaking BUSH of strawberry mint out there is...
  16. Take a generic? There are generic manufacturers of levothyroxine, it seems silly (imo) to switch medications over the name brand not being available for a while. If it were me I would simply tell my doctor I wanted to be back on the medication that worked and didn't cause me any problems, and find a local pharmacy that supplies it through a manufacturer that...
  17. I like to freeze and reheat anything that is mildly resembling a casserole. I have an army of pyrex so I usually just make it right into serving size dishes that can go straight in the oven. Meatloafs also freeze really well, and he can just pop a frozen veggie into a container with a lid, add a bit of water and microwave until it is done. Or microwaved baked...
  18. There was talk here recently about one of the local cities looking into spending the millions it would take to set up a system for reclamation. We're in the desert here too, lawns and gardens get watered. It still boggles my mind that people waste perfectly good water on freaking GRASS when we know damn well we're going to be staring a water shortage in the...
  19. I guess I'm spoiled. I grew up with my mom at least attempting to teach me to cook. One of the things she actually did well was meatballs and she just always threw things in a bowl on top of meat til it looked good. She also makes killer mac & cheese. There were many more things though that she was not so awesome at. I preferred dinner at Grammy's house...
  20. People use recipes for meatballs? I always use beef, sometimes I add pork or veal or sausage or ground whatever to it too. As long as its meat. Add eggs, add breadcrumbs, add whatever seasonings in whatever amounts seem like a good idea at the time... I used to use copious amounts of parmesan but I suppose I can't do that anymore. I do have a teensy...
  21. Yay for your bike back! And I encouraged my daughters both to babysit children of varying ages, preferably multiple children at once. I told them I wanted them to earn money. I lied. I knew it would be awesome birth control. Evil moms strike again!
  22. We all have our moments. My husband knows that I love him dearly to do things like make him some of my favorite foods that I don't dare touch. Not that I'll exactly be suffering with my dinner. And I meant to freeze some of my cupcakes but they never made it to the freezer so I need to polish them off today. OINK myself!
  23. hahaha kids are exhausting little things! I have no idea where I got the energy for that stuff when my kids were little. Just watching kids play now makes me tired.
  24. Hubby wants chicken alfredo. It has been a long time since I've made it since it is something that I'm sure won't agree with me at this point. I'm not brave enough to go there, so I'm going to make myself some pasta with meatballs (homemade! ) and some of that leftover Dave's butternut sauce I froze. I really wish there were meatballs I could buy, but I had...
  25. I agree about calling the hospital. There is no reason at all to pay the price they put on the bills without negotiating them, that is just crazy. As for what you can do to be safe? The most important thing, since you seem to point out all the things you know you need to replace, will be to figure out how to replace them. Again, I'm going to agree here...
