  1. For the cold water I just throw the tea ball with about a teaspoon of lavander in a quart of filtered water. I throw a couple bruised mint leaves on top and put it in the fridge for a few hours. I also do the same with slices applies, berries, citrus and just mix in whatever herbs in a tea ball seem like a good idea. If you google infused water you'll find...
  2. Like I said, I have to find my medical records in what is literally dozens of piles of books and paperwork scattered around my living room/office. It is a nightmare right now. I will bring up thyroid testing with my (new) doctor. He doesn't seem to be a moron so hopefully he'll not be resistant to it. He seems happy to look for answers while we wait for insurance...
  3. Green tea is still tea. Green, white, black, and oolong tea are all from the same plant and in general an issue with one will mean and issue with all four. I do buy some herbal teas, which like I said I like to get at Teavana. I also like to just buy herbs from the local herb shop and throw those in a tea ball. Steeping herbs isn't really any different than...
  4. I do know a people who eat gluten free who will eat things from shared bakeries. None of those people I know eat gluten free for medical reasons. Having worked in more than one pizza place, I know exactly what happens when flour is used in a place every day. It gets in the air and slowly but surely settles. Everywhere. The same thing is certainly happening...
  5. Apparently we had no notice that Comcast was upgrading service in our area. (That or my MIL didn't read on the bill that she had to DO something about it, then actually do something about it.) So after we realized 2 weeks ago that our internet was acting up we were like WTH?! Turns out our modem was no longer compatible with the service so we had to get a...
  6. Had thyroid panel done in January. It was fine. I didn't settle for asking the doctor to test my thyroid either. I flat out told him which tests to do and checked the results myself in my records. None were even borderline, they were all perfectly normal. I thought it screamed like a thyroid problem too. We have no idea what the greater problems are that...
  7. We're trying to get the infusions or transfusions approved. Frankly I am sick enough that I don't give a crap which. Yes, I am that sick from the pills. I wake up feeling more or less fine, then I take my first pill. Other than that first half hour or so of feeling fine, I spend every waking moment feeling as though I am on the verge of vomiting. I eat because...
  8. For personal reasons I do not drink coffee or tea. That said, by "tea" what I mean is I do not drink tea of the tea plant. I do drink whatever herbal teas I like since they are not actually tea at all. That would be my suggestion to try, of course staying away from any that have barley. I like to shop at Teavana, if you have one near you they can help you...
  9. EOS has a tangerine one that has sunscreen.
  10. One of the most difficult things is to always keep your cool. (At least it can be particularly trying for me at times.) The gluten eater(s) will screw up. It isn't a matter of if, but of when. This will not be restricted to a single incident either, but will happen many times, although I notice it happens less and less frequently with time. The key here is...
  11. I think tonight I am baking some sort of chicken something or other. Maybe some garlic taters to go with it or some such. And I'm sure I can dig up a real vegetable somewhere. With this damned iron pills eating has become an exercise in forcing food into myself. I'd honestly be just as happy starving right now.
  12. Dietician. I have no desire to be some random moronic flake that has no background or standing but insists upon themselves and demands to be taken seriously. I also am not such an egotistical idiot that I would go out and simply start spouting off at the mouth the small amount of things I do know and insist they are the one true way to health and everyone...
  13. I didn't see a dietician or nutritionist, I really saw no point. By the time I saw my doctor for an appointment after my biopsy results I had had an entire weekend to spend on the internet and knew more than I ever wanted to and more than enough to get started. Certainly more than I would have learned in a first appointment. I do think though that there is...
  14. While we were at the fair last summer we got popsicles and I had an avocado pistachio one. My husband thought I was quite clearly insane. He had some berry something or other I'm sure, because that would be his go to if we were getting popsicles.
  15. It is a sore subject in my house as well. You can pick up a $4 generic of any number of narcotics. Still costs $200-$300 a month for a vial of insulin, times two kinds. No generic. No substitutes. And exactly, no one is abusing freaking insulin unless some dips$#& thinks eating cake once in a while and correcting for it is abusing insulin. But yeah.....
  16. Cheesecake popsicles? Don't mind if I do! This is why I do recipes for popsicles. I have never been satisfied with fruit/yogurt/koolaid/juice frozen. I want something far more exciting than that. I think these would be wonderful as cherry cheesecake popsicles. Maybe next week if I'm feeling spunky I'll come back with a white chocolate macadamia nut or chocolate...
  17. Well some of us need imaginary internet boards to the head to realize our "dealios" with things. Some people might call me stubborn. (My husband might subscribe to this thinking.) I like to think of myself as steadfast, it sounds more virtuous.
  18. Well you know what they say about opinions right? Not something I think I can (or maybe more accurately should) repeat here.
  19. We've been discussing some sort of breathable but somehow water cooled underoos. Like the opposite of thermal underwear. It would have to be long pants and sleeves, but that is fine by me because I need to be protected from the sun. Still stinging like hell from a rash on my thigh yesterday. Apparently I never learn. I saw the line of traffic and was like...
  20. I'm working today and managed to find a few minutes to get a pork roast in the crock pot before I got out the front door. Two ears of corn left in the house and maybe I'll manage something greenish too. Electricity is out in the common area here, so even though I brought my lunch, it didn't do me a bit of good without a working microwave. So, punting...
  21. One word. HAH! Open Original Shared Link
  22. Since eating any amount of gluten, no matter how small is like eating poison and will cause damage, I can reword this sentence in a way that should answer itself for you. I was wondering if a little crumb of rat poison will be not as bad as like a whole box of rat poison or is it just as bad? It sounds harsh, but it is exactly how seriously it needs...
  23. When it rains it pours right? Yesterday the fridge decided to have a fit and went out for a while. Just enough to make everything need to be thrown out. There were a few things that were frozen that could be saved by either cooking or using in the next few days because they're thawed, but it was a lot of food thrown out. Oh well I guess, I have a better...
  24. Shipping for frozen things is always expensive. Far more than I would ever be willing to pay under pretty much any circumstances. I annoy the heck out of stores until I can get one to order things for me.
  25. Only when they are A: chocolate or B: covered in chocolate. They can of course be both, such as a Dunford donut. (Of which I believe I ate 3 between diagnosis and going gluten free, which was less than a week. ) I think whether or not cake donuts classify as actual donuts is a matter of opinion.
