ARCHIVED Happy Spring, Fellow Gardeners!
Adalaide replied to notme's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My corn, watermelon and cantaloupes are sharing space. I don't need many melon plants so I just put them at the ends of my corn rows. Last night around sunset we got outside and got our mulching done out there so no weeding in the garden. Yay! I think my husband was a little disturbed after we were done that he hadn't bothered with gardening gloves. He never... -
Open Original Shared Link The best way to know is to read the label. Unless the label says it has gluten, it doesn't. As far as the list of ingredients for that product on the website, it lists no gluten ingredients. (As none of the shakers do, unless I am mistaken because it is late.) But, as the faqs state, the label is always going to be more accurate...

ARCHIVED Help With Making A Tapioca Free Flour Blend!
Adalaide replied to Greeneyes4's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I don't use an AP flour and my reason for this is because different things require different qualities from flours and no two act the same. That said, I have had no issues at all if I am out of one starch to sub in another willy nilly, although I have never tried this if a starch is the main ingredient in a recipe, nor would I. With all of the recommended... -

I just did leftovers tonight. My husband was unaware of the Pizza Hut $5.55 promotion but I love him and no matter how much I can not tolerate the smell of pizza without being borderline criminally insane... I told him about it and to go get one. The price really can't be beat for the number of meals it will feed him and how much he loves it. Plus I really... -
ARCHIVED Today's My 1-Year Anniversary Of Coming Down With This Thing!

Happy birthday! I never thought I'd make the year mark when I started but it keeps getting easier every day and isn't it amazing how looking back it seems like the year just flew by? -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Oats
Adalaide replied to VeggieGal's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Psh... my blood tests were negative when my blood was drawn on the same day as my biopsy was positive. I haven't bothered wasting my time with follow up blood tests, although I honestly wish there were a point just so I knew it was going well. That said, frankly I wouldn't let a doctor, dietician or nutritionist tell me what to eat, when to eat it or... -
By the way, some of us are fierce advocates of the gluten free community and played roles (some large, some lesser) in things like having that Jessie episode pulled, getting an apology from Hoda, getting companies to recognize mistakes they have made, etc. So don't even start s$#& about how we aren't involved enough. You come on here all "I'm gonna sue everyone...

I pointed out (I believe) in one of my posts that this sort of thing could be the reason they don't allow food. When they are already providing gluten free snacks there is absolutely no reason at all to allow someone to bring in their own food when it just means that they won't be making money selling things. So you don't like what they offer? So what, I...

The only exception I can think of and which I have never seen disputed by anyone about someone carrying food with them somewhere is when a diabetic carries a single or double high carb snack with them somewhere as an emergency food. Since these snacks are usually carried with their testing supplies (at least in my experience) there is no question about what...

OMG it never occurred to me to tell you about sweet potato pasta. Our local Asian market has it. We actually have more than an entire aisle that is all noodles, which is incredibly awesome. I'm also with you on the fireworks. When I dragged my husband down to the fire & ice festival in the freezing weather in February it wasn't for any of the other... -
If we want to have exceptions to the rules for us, we need to make sure that we are making the appropriate effort needed to get those exceptions. As pointed out, the dude making barely over minimum wage isn't going to do (pardon my french) jack s$#& for you. Why? Because he was told in his training on day one that no exceptions, period, or he could lose his...

You made me want creamed corn which to my surprise is amazingly easy to make. So, to go with my roasted chicken tonight was creamed corn, mashed taters and gravy. I think I may get into the freezer for some ice cream later for dessert, cooking while an oven is roasting away at 500 means that you get roasted chicken and roasted people. -

I don't know what it is, but something about freezing them just makes them magical. They're practically perfection. -
ARCHIVED Favorite Foods
Adalaide replied to Soakesie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Mashed potatoes are gluten free so there is no need to replace them. Not only can you use real potatoes to make them but there is more than one variety available that is gluten free. I believe (but you will need to verify by label reading EVERY label with EVERY purchase) that the Betty Crocker boxed mashed are gluten free as well as the ginormous blue-ish... -

I've been having the same thing for lunch every day this week after my awesome deal at the store. A thing of Noosa yogurt and some frozen grapes. -

I was very strict with the histamine diet for a few weeks, I saw improvement right away and continue to as time goes on but could only take the strict elimination for so long. I enjoy all sorts of things in moderation with no ill effect, and sometimes with terrible effects and know that that particular item is a no-go for me. Tonight for the first time... -
ARCHIVED Newbie Need Help Please!
Adalaide replied to niese's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Karen has good advice, that will really help get you pointed in the right direction and answer a lot of those questions for you. My doctor told me at my appointment to stop consuming dairy products. After trying pretty much every milk substitute I could get my hands on and rejecting all of them I wondered why I was doing this. I poked around a bit on... -
ARCHIVED Applebee's
Adalaide replied to Brandiwine's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm not sure if you are mentioning fast food in response to me saying Red Robin as an alternative to Applebee's or not, but Red Robin is not fast food. I recommended them because they are a well known chain that is capable of doing gluten free right (even offering buns for burgers) and in the same price range as Applebee's. There may be other places in the... -
ARCHIVED Applebee's
Adalaide replied to Brandiwine's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've said this before about Applebee's and I'll say it again, they are simply not the type of restaurant that is equipped to handle gluten free requests. The same is true for any similar style place. He may be sick from that single chip. My personal opinion is that he is sick because his entire meal was CC'd. Giving up going out to eat is not necessary... -

This doctor info includes him trying to sell stuff. When someone is trying to sell me stuff rather than educate me their opinion is always suspect. ARCHIVED Happy Spring, Fellow Gardeners!

I was at the garden store today to pick up some supplies for my corn and my husband suggested I find something to replace my spindly tomato. I kept thinking I could save it but he was sure it was dying, so I committed to just ripping it up and replacing it and I'm glad I did. I found a pineapple mint! I'm very happy to have him in a pot and if he takes off... -
ARCHIVED Rustic Pizza Crust ....napoli Herb
Adalaide replied to IrishHeart's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am all for the make it yourself route. Homemade is generally better and tastier. That said, sign me up x1000 for Venice crusts. Yeah, so it is just a crust and not a whole pizza... but this means that you aren't buying a very few low quality ingredients on top of a crust. You have complete control about what goes on your pizza. Plus, they are soy, dairy... -

I've been working my butt off yesterday and today. The weeks before a ballet performance are crazy for the business and I get to be the one in charge of the programs. While I am fine with that and have masters to work from, gathering all the info has been... challenging to say the least. I'm going to have a long night ahead of me. I took the afternoon to... -

HH is high histamine. There are a few of us who are cursed with a histamine intolerance. Probably not the sort of thing anyone knows who doesn't deal with it or who hasn't been around here enough to see it talked about some.
