ARCHIVED How Does Oranges Affect You?
loraleena replied to T-Bird's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oranges and other acidic fruits cause my intersticial cystitis to flare and give me mouth sores. It is probably the acid that is bothering him. I take prelief to neutralize acid in foods. I take this with all foods, but never touch oranges or tomatoes. -

loraleena replied to sarahelizabeth's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Chronic ear infections in children can be the first sign of candida(yeast overgrowth). All the antibiotics can trigger this since they kill all the good bacteria as well. -

ARCHIVED Hair Loss
loraleena replied to Amanda Thomas's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Alopecia can happen suddenly or take a while. Shampoo, lotions, etc. do not have to say wheat. I would check on a gluten listing site for products that are safe, or actually call the company. I use Giovanni and Shakai, both confirmed safe by the company and all natural. Has your daughter had a illness about 3 months ago? Illnesses can trigger Alopecia... -

ARCHIVED Tourettes, Obsessive Compulsive And Adhd
loraleena posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A friend of mine's son has been diagnosed with Tourettes syndrome, OCD and ADHD. A few years back she had some alternative allergy testing done that showed dairy allergy. She did not follow through with taking this out of his diet. I thought I had heard that these things can all be caused by gluten/casein intolerance. I talked to her about this and encouraged... -
ARCHIVED Hair Loss
loraleena replied to Amanda Thomas's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It sounds like Alopecia. My son had this and lost half his hair. We ended up using a natural product with essential oil called Kalasol and it grew his hair back. Hair loss can be caused by gluten, but it says your daughter is now gluten free. The other thing I know of that can cause hair loss is hypothyroidism. If you get her checked, make sure they don... -

ARCHIVED Ok, Ok, I Learned My Lesson...
loraleena replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Please don't fall for Activia commercials. This is non organic yogurt with sugar. It will not help you. Use an organic plain yogurt with live cultures. Any yogurt with sugar will only feed any yeast overgrowth you may have. -
ARCHIVED Need Some Good Information
loraleena replied to aquamarine-queen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Make sure your coconut oil is raw and unrefined. -
Are you sure your UTI's aren't actually intersticial cystitis. Are they actually finding bacteria each time? IC is a autoimmune illness that causes the bladder to feel as if you have an infection without actually having one. It can come and go or be present all the time. Lots of foods can make it feel worse, especially acidic or aged foods. Mine actually...

ARCHIVED Thyroid Test Results Back
loraleena replied to super-sally888's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
T4 is usually not helpful for Thryoid, even though it is routinely prescribed. Please read info on either Dr. Gina Honeyman website or Dr. Lowe.com. Armour or Cytomel is the best way to go. I also don't know how good it is to just switch from Armour to synthroid. You can probably do long distance consulting with Dr. Gina or Dr. Lowe. I do this. They... -
ARCHIVED Normal B12 Level
loraleena replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The normal for the US is extremely low. In Japan it should be over 550. So. 570 is on the low side. My doctor said even my levels of 620 may not mean I am utilizing the B-12 properly. He said there is no harm in doing injection or sublingual, because you can't overdose. -
Easy bruising can be caused by low platelets. I have chronically low, but not dangerously low platelets, and bruise very easy. Get your platelets checked. They should be about 150,000. Mine are around 110,000- to 130,000. No treatment required, but I need to watch out for heavier periods, or bleeding gums, or any bleeding that does not stop easily.
