ARCHIVED Temprature
loraleena replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would get your thyroid checked. I have thyroid issues. My normal temps run from 97.2-97.6. I feel feverish if I hit 98.3. The doctors think I am crazy to. Whatever, we know our own bodies. Thyroid disease causes low body temps and is connected with celiacs. -

You should rent the movie... -

ARCHIVED Frustrated At The New gluten-free Diet Rollercoaster
loraleena replied to Aerin328's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Some rice flours could be contaminated if made at a plant that also makes wheat flour. Also the bin could be contaminated. Buy rice flour from a company that only makes gluten free products. -
ARCHIVED Mild Case Of Celiac Disease
loraleena replied to GF ME's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There is no such thing as a mild case. You have it or you don't. Even if you don't feel sick, the tiniest amounts can do hidden damage. You need to be compeletely gluten free. -
it sounds very possible. You can have celiac, and then have it go into remission during the teen and young adult years.
-
You can be gluten intolerant without the gene. You don't have to have celiac to be gluten intolerant. Same diet anyway.

ARCHIVED Cold Stone Creamery - Yum!
loraleena replied to loraleena's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Almost all their ice creams are gluten free except the ones with cookies and such. I check the ice cream and if I see any other kinds have gotten in I don't get that one. Also, someone said you can ask them to get it from the back. Anyway I have had no problems. -
i eat popcorn at every theatre I go to. I don't ever get butter, and never had a problem. Except, this past Saturday I ate some at a small theatre I had never been to, and threw up after the movie. Then I was fine. Hard to know, since I had also taken a pain pill that some times makes me nauseous.

From one redsox fan to another! Are you in Boston? I have eaten at the theatre district location three times with no problems. The lettuce wraps are to die for. Also, there is a gluten free chocolate torte. It is not on the menu. Ask your server. It was heaven!!

I eat at a Boston Cold Stone creamery every couple weeks. I love the white chocolate and coffee mixed together. This particular store has a complete allergen list for all flavors and toppings. Almost all their ice cream is gluten free except of course the ones with cookies, cake etc. I just skip the mixing table and have them put the ice cream directly...

This is very common. Gluten intolerance and lactose intolerance often go hand in hand. Many find after healing on a gluten free diet that they can again consume lactose. -

loraleena replied to PatrickCA's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I didn't do a gluten challenge, but after 3 wks without I decided to try and see what happened. I got the exact same symptoms as you! I never knew anyone else got a fever besides me. I also vomited for half a day. That was all the proof I needed. I did do enterolab after this which confirmed. -
ARCHIVED Blood-related Problems
loraleena replied to happiestgirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have normal iron, but chronically low platelets - around 130,000. Recently they dipped for a couple months to 84,000, but are back up to 131. They think I have an autoimmune disorder that can destroy platelets, but my levels are fine. They will monitor me 2x year to make sure they don't go below 30,000. I posted a while back wondering if anyone else... -
ARCHIVED Child Hair Loss Related To Celiac?
loraleena replied to gabby's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It sounds like what she has is Alopecia. This can be caused by celiac. My son had this 2 years ago and lost about half his hair. I don't know if he has celiac, but now that I at least have gluten intolerance, I am going to test him. By the way we grew all his hair back in 3 months by using natural methods, mainly essential oils. The docs wanted to give... -
