  1. We can't always change others, but we can try to perceive them differently. My thoughts lately is that I have to learn to be okay with some unjust treatment and low opinions of me. All people do make mistakes. I don't always react well either. Last time flour ended up in the kitchen, I threw it on the floor. That sure didn't help! It may seem like...
  2. Oh, that's the story. Thanks.
  3. Wow! Glad you have a definitive answer. It seems like you can be turning around in 6 weeks! I think maybe you should make a different thread about it. I am afraid some won't notice. What a deal to be told "no" and have it changed to yes! Still, You know. Sorry you have celiac, but glad you know! To receive find out when someone posts on your thread...
  4. Yes, I did suffer from adrenal problems. My main symptoms were fatigue. I also recall a time when I had continuous adrenaline for a couple of days. Supplements helped. About 2 months ago I was given an herbal product to support the adrenal glands. I believe it helped. . You can test the adrenal glands by using orthostatic blood pressure, according...
  5. If and when I use potassium supplements, my chiro keeps close tabs on my blood pressure. It can go too low and be very dangerous. I had some leg cramps for several nights during the transition to gluten free. I don't know why. Anyway, I usually try to flex my foot (very difficult)., but that releases the muscle. I got so that I could feel it coming...
  6. Welcome, I am hoping it will feel better in the morning. \ D
  7. It would be good to start your own post, so as to not slip through the cracks. Welcome: D
  8. Hang in there. Some of mine are now being tested. I just hope they had enough gluten to be positive if they need be!
  9. I know that my Functional Medicine Nurse believed that there was. My mother had great success with using The Feingold Diet for Hyperactive Children to help my brother overcome hyperactivity back in the 70's. Basically this diet excluded artificial flavors and colors. I saw this work first hand and became certain of its usefulness. I believe they have...
  10. Maybe it could be either one. I think I had both the first 2-3 months. Do keep improving your care (What you have done sounds good!), and keep on doing it for longer. Things should get better over time. If they continue over more time, there is more one can do. There will be bumps, turns, and up hills in the meanwhile. Some of these, one can never figure...
  11. For the tax deduction, you can deduct the additional cost of gluten free foods. For example if you pay 1.00 rather than .79, you can deduct the difference in price. I am hoping one day they will have a standard deduction for celiac disease, because I don't know practically how to make it work this way. I heard someone is working on getting it.
  12. No, all I have to do is stick my nose over the box and I feel the glands in my neck swell up. I haven't checked to see if I bloat. I do have problems with corn, but I smell a chemical smell when I get near them. I also have problems with open bags of flour. My family decided to use up some grain left in our Kitchen.. NOT GOOD
  13. Yes, mentally it is a challenge. I am planning to try a new Bible study. I am noticing I seem to keep talking about celiac, and not too many want to hear about it. I also have noticed that when I feel rough physically, I have the hardest time mentally. Its hard to make new friends when one is caught up in fighting celiac damage. Sometimes I feel so high...
  14. We just had an article posted by Scott Adams about tooth enamel problems. It said that one should be tested for celiac if their enamels disappears. I am giving copies of it to the 4 dentists our family employs. The final test for celiac would be to follow the diet for several months and see if the body responds to it. The blood tests for celiac can...
  15. Ask for your test results and then post them. Someone may be able to tell you more about it. Also, someone may have a guess. Here is a list of tests they may have run. Perhaps you can recognize the name? This is the full blood panel that you should have been tested for: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA...
  16. For me, cooking my own is a must. I have stayed in a beautiful lodge in the Duluth/Two Harbors area. This place is right by the lake and had units with full kitchens. When I stayed it appeared very clean. I have not stayed since I went gluten free. If I went now, I would bring my own pans and utensils to avoid cross contamination. I have been...
  17. I am feeling very well. I am slowly adding foods back one by one. I think that my toe with fungus is healing. A couple of nights recently bedtime came, but I wasn't tired. I am still afraid to get giddy, but so glad for some days with energy!
  18. I am pretty sure I had celiac symptoms when I was 19. At about age 25 I became a mother. I had 5 children by age 44, after which I was infertile for 16 years thus far.
  19. First off I had over 30 years of symptoms and am super-sensitive besides. I had 4 days of bliss after starting gluten free. After That I did really take a dive with fatigue and dizziness. I eventually pulled back out of it. My problem could have been withdrawal, but I also had let some gluten get by me by not reading labels closely enough. If...
  20. Before diagnosis: I felt like I carried 100lb weight on my back all day everyday for 30 years. Today that burden is mostly gone. Compared to life before the diet; Living without gluten is a piece of cake! It has been quite a walk to get here with many twists and bumps, I also have a ways to go, but Thank God the weight is off my back! I remember...
  21. I have tried. I have had reactions. Now, I eat at home or in my car. I am trying to still join in the celebrations. Many around are able to go to functions, with due precautions, and come out just fine.
  22. I react to crayons. I don't know what kind of reaction it is and didn't mean it had to be gluten. I see they do not purposely contain gluten, but may give off vapors when heated. Sometimes, I can't tell what sort of reaction I am having, I just know not to repeat them. I am thinking other super-sensitives may share some of these concerns or other intolerances...
  23. I sent notice to my family after my diagnosis too. Then I figured that I had done my part in helping them. The ones that are really close are starting to realize the impact and are considering whether they have it. I survived 30+ years of celiac. It wasn't fun. Compared to those years of suffering, the gluten free/intolerance free diet I am on is...
  24. To be clear, I think I reacted to other ingredients. I mentioned that I have other intolerances such as corn and many foods. The paste had Calcium carbonate, vegetable glycerin, and perhaps another ingredient. It had no artificial flavors or colors. I have reacted to glycerin in the past, so I guess that is most likely. If one does have other intolerances...
  25. Super Sensitive: I can relate to not being able to tolerate gluten in the room. In Minneapolis they have a preschool with natural foods, so I don't see why there couldn't be one gluten free. For all I know there is. Don't get your nose too close to the crayons! I would be looking for a different job. Note that crayons do not contain gluten. ...
