  1. People just don't get celiac. Did you know that we must become teachers? Add that to your list of titles, teachers.
  2. I haven't tried. I lost heart when I just couldn't post and didn't have draft for an option. I always like to type it in and come back later to refine it. I think I spent an hour or three and then lost my post. Now, I know I could save it somewhere else, but I don't. I would like to post again when I have something to write about. D
  3. I am so happy for you, and hope your results will be definitive. D
  4. I am right handed. My left has always been pretty weak.
  5. No! I ate mostly spelt and kamut, and practically no "wheat" for the last 10 - 15 years before going gluten free, and had big time damage in spite of that. I don't think one should try it!
  6. I didn't think I could handle a gluten challenge either. It seemed unethical to take in gluten having seen what things it had been doing to me. I did a genetic test which came back positive with 4/4 alleles tested for. I took this to the MD and with my belly looking 5 months pregnant she had a look. My bloating really went nuts for a while just after...
  7. I just squatted to get a spill off the floor and remembered, I hadn't squatted for years, because I couldn't breathe when I did. I think that is related to the above. D
  8. Make sure you are getting enough magnesium. Too much, gives diarrhea. I am sold on my digestive enzymes. They help break down the food and I have noticed a difference. Though I must admit to having done so many things that it is hard to distinguish what is working. My nurse practitioner told me that the villi in the small intestine get too damaged...
  9. It seems like your on the right track to me looking at celiac and diet! D
  10. Are you sure you are not getting cross contamination or some unread label trouble. I went for quite a while using a flavoring that contained gluten when I thought it was a 1 ingredient thing, but it wasn't. I like Between the Bridges Healing Center Mankato. The doctor had been involved with Mayo Clinic, if I have it right. He has an Osteopathic degree...
  11. Question/ Comment for Super Sensitives: Not to say others can't answer if they have had such a symptom. I just noticed it about a week ago. I started enjoying nice deep breaths with my tummy moving freely. Usually I am not aware of my breathing, so it puzzled me why it now attracted my attention. Then one day, my tummy felt tight. I couldn't...
  12. I think that it is not mean to stop your child from sticking their finger in a socket. It is loving. I wouldn't let them chew gum found laying around. It could be tough, though, I understand the feeling of saying "No". Men just don't always think about such things, I think.
  13. I have been gluten free for about a year. I struggled hard with many physical issues through this year. Mentally, I feel like I am struggling more and more. I wish I had my Mommy to take care of me. I don't want to make even easy decisions like what should we do next. It is a time when I am mostly with family. I don't think it is permanent or even...
  14. It is okay to start out discouraged. Realize that you are moving in a direction that will take you out of it! After 30+ years of Celiac symptoms undiagnosed and upon going gluten free, I had about 4 days of blissful feeling good. After those days, I started to react to cross contamination, or had withdrawal symptoms. Mine lasted months. I had many...
  15. I did a blood test in which they looked for various food antibodies. When I cut out the things the test told me to avoid it did seem to help. Just now I am in the process of adding back foods that I had the fewest antibodies to. I am also doing a rotational diet and not consuming the same food family more than every forth day. D
  16. Maybe you could check with another doctor? Did they also check for parasites? It seems better to have a diagnosis, but if you want one, you need to wait until the testing is done to go gluten free. But the final test for a gluten free diet is always to gluten free and see if it works. You could do that if nothing else works for you.
  17. Just take some steps (as you are) and keep walking. I would keep eliminating more and more gluten as you go. It is too bad about the "growing out of celiac thought." Many of us have lived with celiac for years; so welcome to the club! I do suggest the digestive enzymes if at all possible. My functional Medicine nurse told me that when the intestinal...
  18. In my gluten days, I had difficulties with fatigue and fogginess. It took me about 4 days of gluten free before I felt accidental glutenings. I felt these as dizzy fogginess worse than usual. Well, it could have been glutenings, or withdrawal. My body reacts even more forcefully now when I eat some glutened accidentally. For the first time, after 7 months...
  19. Because of experiences/reactions I have, and because being sick on a trip is a real drag, Because of perfectionism, I like to be super duper careful. I have been told by my doctor not to eat away from "home." Anyway, if I went to London, I would not be able to return home. I have been glutened eating my own food, heated in a covered pan at someone's home...
  20. I got switched to Adapten-All by Ortho Molecular Products. An herbal product would likely be good if it had the right ingredients. My Functional Medicine nurse asked me to search out products through the internet for adrenal support, and not to buy them from their office next time. They had 4 or 5 selections, but she thought I could do better on price...
  21. Nice to hear from you! I really feel like a mental battle is overtaking me as the physical battle seems to be subsiding. D
  22. I am working on a post about setting up your temporary kitchen practically anywhere. I am planning to have my 8 year old daughter set one up today, so we can get a picture. I have set up in many hotels. I take along an electric skillet, and or crock pot. bring spatulas and a few other utensils. I bring a hot pad or two. In the summer one could even...
  23. From a super-sensitive 30+ years of symptoms viewpoint which hopefully you don't share: I went gluten free just over a year ago. For about 3 months I felt like I was in withdrawal, or was having cross contamination problems. After that I went grain free and had another 3 months of fatigue and fogginess. After a year I cut buckwheat and had fatigue...
