  1. Open Original Shared Link I would consider corn and potatoes for sure. They bloat me. You might also try low foodmaps. The link is to show symptoms and diet help for foodmaps diet. This helped my bloat to subside. You might also consider enzymes and probiotics if you don't already do those. Dee
  2. Congratulations, on a job well done! Keep on walking. Dee
  3. I don't know how it is in Japan, I expect they mostly haven't heard about celiac, but here you can just explain you have food allergies and then are not required to eat it. I try not to take anyone by surprise with it, but let them know I won't be able to eat with them. Sometimes I have just had to let others think little of me, but I can't eat gluten....
  4. I think you have some good ideas and you should keep walking (like this) with your mind engaged. I understand the philosophy of cutting many foods right away and hoping to get them back later. I always liked that better than having to cut more and more. I would expect your body to be working hard at recovery for a while. I had leg swelling, one leg (right...
  5. I switched most things in my diet because of similar problems with foods I had been eating. If you look at the store you can likely find new to you vegetables and meats. Shocking things began to happen with my body after doing that! Fennel (for example) is a vegetable that one can find in the produce section. It rather looks like an onion but has a feathery...
  6. I had low ferritin which resolved by 18 months gluten free. I have heard others mention low cholesterol. If you have an adequate diet, but are low in nutrients that would seem to indicate the need for to find a cause of the low nutrients levels. Did you have a full celiac blood panel yet?
  7. Coming from the view of one allergic to wheat: Welcome! I am glad your life was saved! It turned out I have allergies to wheat, so I have to be extremely careful (more so than many people that have celiac).. I react for almost no reason. To me, eating out means throwing out a blanket on the ground in the park and pulling out the meal I've made! ...
  8. I am hoping for a definitive diagnosis, and that your kitchen can be gluten free for your sake. Dee
  9. Great Val, I hope you get lots of ideas for you new meals! Dee
  10. Welcome, I wasn't clear if you are positive for celiac or still waiting for a definitive answer on that. I am glad for a disease that does not take medication, but only diet. Who Knows, though, what will happen for you? Best wishes for your healing. Dee ***
  11. I had mal-absorption remaining for months. However, my levels went up after beginning a digestive enzyme supplement and removing foods I didn't tolerate. Sometimes you need nutrients to heal, and you need to heal to get the nutrients.
  12. Welcome Starla, It looks to me like you were above range on some of those tests especially while eating gluten the last time. Maybe someone will set me straight on this. I would make sure a full celiac panel was or is tested. Have a biopsy if you can. I know from reading the forum that thyroid and celiac are frequently connected along with many symptoms...
  13. Did you go gluten free before testing? Get as many of the tests as you can and then the final test can be to go totally gluten free. You can start learning about the diet now and take gluten free vitamins. Take a high quality one which should be easy to break down and absorb. You can start to read labels and when you replace items get the gluten free...
  14. How is it going Godschild? I hope you are enjoying reading on the forum. I am sorry you spent some time with it not knowing whatever could be wrong. However, I am glad that you now know what is wrong and you can do something about it! Dee
  15. Welcome Shanna, Many of us have unusual symptoms after beginning a gluten free time. Please do keep it up to become more sure of yourself. I hope this will help end your symptoms. I had 30+ years of brain fog and fatigue which began to end when I nearly died. Supplements helped me to tread water until I finally discovered I have celiac disease...
  16. Have you been checked for fructose intolerance?
  17. Do you know what tests helped to define your father's celiac? Did you have an endoscopy done, because that examines the small intestine? They should take at least 4-6 samples and look for villi damage. When all of your testing is done then you could try a gluten free diet to see if it will help take away your symptoms. If you already cut out gluten before...
  18. Usually, you need to eat gluten longer before taking the test. If your test comes out positive it could really help define things for you, but if it were negative you could not be sure you don't have celiac. Dee
  19. You might ask if the lab has enough of your blood samples in store to run some more tests for celiac. My lab keeps draws for about 6 months and one can request more tests. I hope that will help! Your other test (reactions to gluten free) sounds really positive! Dee
  20. Your son's body is likely working very hard to recover. Can you bear with it a little? He may have some withdrawal symptoms and it is difficult. I remember myself being a crabby brat and overwhelmed. An adult should be able to be nice, right? Give him some time to turn the corner. Maybe plan some favorite videos and stay home extra for rest. How about...
  21. Hi GodsChild, I am sorry to hear you have celiac, but feel certain that it will be used for good. I have super news! The small intestine can be quite ruined, but is able to rebuild quickly. I watched a video (Body by Design) by Dr. David Menton, that said that the villi of the intestine are replaced (in a normal person) every 4 days. Your body can...
  22. I have made many of my own discoveries over the coarse of my illness. For now, I wouldn't worry about some occupation with it. I think one should keep their mind in gear. I also think it usually slows down the better one feels. After one learns what they need to know to recover and they do it, it takes less attention in ones' life. I must admit though...
  23. I too had inflammation related to eating foods I didn't tolerate. I think I finally got rid of all of them now and am deflating. I am 2+ years gluten free. Things are so complicated sometimes. Decades of damage do take their toll. It took me a long time to be willing to make all of the food changes I needed to make. It was worth it! I hope all of...
  24. I can relate to cutting all grain and be careful about airborne stuff. Watch out for harvest time! I had 30 years of symptoms after a bout with mono when I was 19. I have been on quite a quest since 2007 (and a quest decades before that) to regain health. I watch out for xanthum gum also, and my body can find guar gum and reject it. My situation had...
