ARCHIVED Vertigo/peripheral Neuropathy
GF Lover replied to dama444's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I developed Vertigo when my Thyroid decided to go Hypo. I fell off a stool and had to crawl up the stairs. For me it was a quick trip to the Doctor, a couple blood tests and nausea meds. I stayed pretty horizontal until the results the next day and started on Levothyroxine. I agree with Raven, you should have it checkout independently of Celiac. ... -
ARCHIVED Can I Have Gluten Intolerance?
GF Lover replied to AlexDAK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Oh...ok..you are going to go gluten free until the next biopsy...gottcha, That makes more sense. Push for 4 months at least to get the most healing time. Read the Newbie 101 thread under the Coping Section. And jump into gluten free. Have you had your Thyroid checked and blood test for deficiencies. These could address the rest of your symptoms... -
Hi BlessedMommy, I've done a lot of research on it because I have it. I have read no connection linking it to Celiac. It is Autoimmune in nature. The immune system destroys brown pigment in the skin. It is associated with three other Autoimmune Conditions. Hyperthyroid Disease Addison's Disease Pernicious Anemia Hope this helps. Colleen...

ARCHIVED Can I Have Gluten Intolerance?
GF Lover replied to AlexDAK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi AlexDan and Welcome to the Forum. Why does he want you to repeat the biopsy in 3-4 months. Is he waiting for even more damage to occur. Have you had any blood work done for Celiac? Colleen -

ARCHIVED Possible Coeliac And Dh?
GF Lover replied to Scottishvoice's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Hi Scottishvoice and Welcome to the Forum. A couple things. People with DH typically don't test positive for the blood tests. The antibodies are in the skin opposed to the blood. Also, I think the use of steroids will give a negative on a skin biopsy. Oral steroids must be stopped prior to biopsy. Since DH IS a Celiac Diagnosis, having NCGI would... -

Hi Radly and Welcome to the Forum. I think I saw in some previous post that you are self-diagnosed? Is that for Celiac and MCAS or one of the two? Typically MCAS symptoms are due to Histamines. It's difficult to answer your questions without a bit more information. Colleen

ARCHIVED Dad Brought Home A Bag Of Wheat Gluten, Now I've Given Up.
GF Lover replied to MermaidPaz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Mermaid. You are definitely going through a difficult period right now. A couple thoughts come to mind. For the practical issues, how about an electric griddle, a crock pot and a toaster to keep in your room. A toaster is about 10 bucks. A griddle and crock pot can be purchased second hand since they can be easily cleaned. Goodwill stores and... -

ARCHIVED Thinking Of Intentionally Glutening Myself.
GF Lover replied to GFAnnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Same question. Are you diagnosed with DH and kids diagnosed with DH/Celiac? Also, your kids may have different reactions to yours so you would not be a good judge to how they are feeling. If you are all diagnosed properly then I would never even consider a "test". I think that will be the prevailing opinion found here. Would you stab yourself to ... -

ARCHIVED Drying Lettuce And Other Greens For Salads
GF Lover replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You mean I should dry my spinach leaves before making my salad? I thought salads were meant to be juicy You know, I never even knew a salad spinner existed. And, no, I don't live under a rock....lol. I am what you might call "challenged" in the kitchen. I once asked my Hubs (he's the main cook) how to make chopped nuts, he gave me that look ... -
ARCHIVED Confusing Biopsy Results
GF Lover replied to Shleya5's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You mentioned a rash in your earlier post. Our DH guru "Squirmingitch" has said that some with DH do not test positive on the blood tests because the antibodies are in the skin. I'm going from memory here but I'm pretty sure that's the gist of what she said. You can search her posts if you want. Since your rash was not diagnosed it may be the connection... -
