If you don't have any debilitating issues aside from Celiac, it is highly unlikely that you will qualify. Most people have a 1 to 2 year wait until a final decision is made by Social Security. As Gemini said, you should be right as rain by then and be living a healthy life. Colleen

GF Lover replied to Celiac Mindwarp's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi, and welcome to the Forum. This thread ended over a year ago and Celiac Mindwarp may not see your question. Why not go ahead and start a new topic on the Whole 30. You will get more feedback that way. Good Luck. Colleen -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
GF Lover replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I made my very first batch of peanut butter fudge today. Used Alton Brown's recipe. Total Yummers. It's hard to just eat one piece. Can you freeze fudge? Dinner tonight was ribeyes, sweet pots and sweet peas. Colleen -
ARCHIVED Cleaning All My Daughters Plates Etc
GF Lover replied to vyky's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sterilizing the plastic ware and cutting board won't work. The gluten has to be physically removed. That is why it is recommended that plastics, wooden items and items with hard to clean areas be replaced. Colleen -
ARCHIVED Beware Bart And Judy's "gluten-Free " Cookies
GF Lover replied to IrishHeart's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dang Irish. I guess I missed all that on the Dude's site. Thanks for the links. And yup. Open and shut legal case and I hope Bart takes that page down and releases the name. It's funny, when someone figures out they can be liable for what they print and put up on the Internet they usually quickly back down. I guess some think it is still the "Wild West... -
ARCHIVED Problems Galore, Doctors Opinions & Finding The Problem
GF Lover replied to Emirii's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Emiril and Welcome. I'm terribly sorry to hear you lost your Mother so young. As you might have read, Celiac can be triggered by traumatic events in our lives. It is interesting that your GI mentioned Celiac right off the bat. Many GI's are still very uninformed about the disease and I think that may be a good sign for you. I also think that regardless... -

Thanks for the Information Irish. Colleen -
I just wanted to clarify something you said. You were diagnosed with Celiac Sprue from eating Berreta Arborio Rice? Do you mean you were diagnosed with Celiac through blood testing and biopsy and cannot "tolerate" that particular rice? We don't want anyone who reads this in the future thinking that this is a way to diagnose something Colleen

ARCHIVED Did This Happen To Anybody Else?
GF Lover replied to sidelined's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Sidelined. I'm assuming you've seen your Doctor for a look at your symptoms, you may also want to consider a gluten challenge to do blood testing and endoscope. You could have any number of issues going on and not necessarily Celiac. You don't want to leave a medical issue untreated and you also would not want to undertake a medically necessary diet... -

Some days you are gonna get a stomach rumble or headache....not associated the gluten. Have you had an endoscope to check your ulcer? Colleen -
ARCHIVED Kroger List Of Foods That Are Gluten-Free
GF Lover replied to Mid-Thirties-GlutenFree's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think a lot of newly diagnosed Celiacs think that if it doesn't say gluten free than you can't have it. NOT TRUE. Like we all say, read labels. Lists will do you no good because they can change product ingredients at any time. Colleen- 4 replies

ARCHIVED Need To Get This Off My Chest
GF Lover replied to beth01's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Beth. Unfortunately your story is more common than you would think. 30-40 years ago, Celiac was not a well known disease to Doctors and especially the population. I had never heard of the word gluten or Celiac until I was around 45, three years ago. When undiagnosed for so long the disease attacks anywhere it wants. I have miscarried, had parts...- 12 replies

Hi Iceland. You may not get much help with this. None of the ingredients would bother me but may bother someone else. The way to find out it to eat one single ingredient and see if you have a problem...Test them all. Good luck. Colleen- 18 replies

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
GF Lover replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
In Minnesota, where the skeeters are wicked thick, there is an old way to keep them at bay. Dryer sheets! Rub them on your clothing, put them in your pockets, around your collar, sticking out of your shoes...wherever. I have done this and it works for me. Or, you could grow citronella in pots and stuff those in your pockets..... For dinner tonight... -
ARCHIVED Frito Lay Recall - Oven Baked Bbq
GF Lover replied to kareng's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Celiacs should really pay attention to this. Although I stay away from BBQ flavors anyway, they usually have gluten, many newer Celiacs may not catch the mistake and not read the label. Thanks. Colleen -
Eating raisins/prunes daily can help with this, it does me. Colleen
