  1. A gene test is not going to tell you if you have Celiac and Having other family members with Celiac does not mean you will get it. It's about your chances of developing Celiac. I would not recommend "assuming" that you have Celiac Disease. There is a testing protocol that will give you answers. Celiac testing is more than one blood test. It is an entire...
  2. Hi Questor, Because the Colon/Anus is so inflamed when having diarrhea, the area is extremely sensitive and yes it can feel like burning. This is the case whether Celiac or not. Colleen
  3. It's not unheard of for symptoms to last 3 weeks or so. The immune system ramps up when glutened. It takes time for it to settle down. With some of us, if we get hit, all kinds of things happen, all the other AI stuff starts up, everything aches, headaches, etc. It;s not just bowel issues. Your not alone, Colleen
  4. Thinking "Hidden Gluten" is everywhere Is being paranoid. Thinking Gluten particles will jump off of surfaces and land in you mouth is being paranoid. You can choose to have a Gluten Free household or a shared household. Like Karen, I live with gluten eaters. Wiping off a counter is no big deal for me as I would have wiped it down before eating anyways...
  5. Um....Lets not bring back an Urban Myth. Caramel Coloring Is gluten free. It is typically made with corn. Colleen
  6. Have you had a colonoscopy for those fissures? Are there multiple ones? Are they infected and draining puss (watery) How far inside to they go. At some point these will have to get resolved before you will see improvement. If your not pushing anymore then that it why the last part is more watery. The poop was ready to come out but you waited. It effects...
  7. When I go out to a Restaurant there is only one thing I ask. Can I have a Margarita shaken with salt please. Let the rest enjoy dinner, I already ate
  8. In my case, no advocating was needed. I went from a disabled miserable in pain shadow of my self and in 2 years I am healthy and happier than I have ever been. Everytime I saw someone that I hadn't seen for awhile was like OMG. You look Great? Then I explain what happened and my diagnosis. They are shocked. Colleen
  9. Maybe you could exercise at home? I don't think therapy would be recommenced for a sore thigh. Walking is great! Colleen
  10. Hi Kelsie. With over 300 hundred possible Celiac symptoms almost anything goes. There isn't a right or wrong way to react. I wish you luck getting through your challenge. Colleen
  11. What are some of those supplements for? They are not typical for a recovering Celiac or the Nutritionally deprived. Do they have any interactions with each other? Colleen
  12. Love the jokes, Willow's got a coffee spit out of me.
  13. Jinx Karen.

  15. Hi Chrissie and Welcome to the Forum. You should keep eating gluten until all testing is complete. If you have already had the endoscopy procedure and are ONLY waiting for the results then you should be fine to stop eating gluten now, however if you still have to have the procedure then wait until it is finished. Good Luck. Colleen
  16. Maybe she was dressing up a Edward Scissor Hands....He rocked that look.
  17. Ok girl. You have to stop this. If it says gluten free, you have to assume it is safe. If you have a problem with that particular food, don't eat it again. Try to avoid processed foods as they are not healthy, celiac or not. Avoid eating out until you have a good grip on the diet and can maneuver the restaurant scene successfully if at all. You do...
  18. AnnaChristine. You said "After 5 months gluten free, dairy free, grain free, sugar free, taking a hundred supplements a day and I'm WORSE than I was before I was even diagnosed.....something's gotta be wrong. SOmething else. " Are you really taking a hundred supplements a day. Um...That could be a problem. Why? Does your Doctor approve of all...
  19. Beware of gluten crumbs in the bed if he is taken to eating there. Colleen
  20. you got to live a little eh?
  21. My downfall is Snickers Bars. In my defense, I do make one bar last 3 days I remember as a kid I would have cinnamon and sugar toast all the time. It was total yummies then but now it would make me Urp.... Thank you for your kind words and I wish you and your MIL and your family well also. Colleen
  22. Gluten is found not only in wheat but also in barley and rye. Might this be the confusion? Colleen
  23. Ok. Now your talking. And I can completely empathise with you. When I started my gluten free diet I was thankful because I was so debilitated and I was getting better. Then I got hit with a cancer diagnosis. That one got in my head really bad. After a year of surgeries and immunotherapy I was still consumed with "having" cancer. It has taken some time...
  24. I see you guys here giving sugar a bad rap. I think you mean High Fructose Corn Syrup and other sugary concoctions may be troubling you. Everything in moderation. If I happen to eat a piece of cake with frosting, my stomach will complain and I will get C. For me, that does not mean I am intolerant to it, it just means I ate to much at one time. I eat...
  25. Wow. Squash are the bomb. Ok. Get a nice Acorn Squash, they are orange and green, I like some good orange color on the rind. Knock on it. Should sound a bit hollow, it has seeds. Wash it good, cut it long ways thru the center. put about a 1/4 - 1/2 inch of filtered water in a baking pan. put the two halves, cut side down, in the pan and bake at 3...
