  1. Waiting. I didn't get that impression at all. I'm saying that the crumbs left on the table do not bother your Parents, they bother you. When my kids are here I remind them "my house, my rules". I think if you continue with your stress management you will begin to get your head wrapped around the whole thing better. When I was growing up the world...
  2. Hi across, and Welcome to the Forum. The tests you had really told you nothing. A gluten challenge needs to be 8-12 weeks. Since Celiac is an autoimmune disease it takes time for your immune system to ramp up. Family is family....don't worry about em. Worry about your health. If you can't manage a full gluten challenge then you may want to just go...
  3. I have a list of the 6 er 18 ways to make a sweet potato that you listed. I would post it again but um, I forgot where I wrote it down but I do make the cut like fries one, smashed is another. Icelandgirl, have you tried squashes? like Acorn? Total yummers. Maybe eggplant. I'm thinking of mild on the tummy foods. Colleen
  4. Hi Waitingindreams. It kinda sounds like your family and boyfriend have "diet fatigue" meaning: they are tired of "your" diet. Living with your parents is not only stressful on you but incredibly stressful on your parents, trust me on this. This may sound harsh but it is your responsibility to make sure your dishes have no crumbs before you use them...
  5. I don't leave the house without a package of wet wipes and an emergency stash of meds. Thinking I'll have to add the bottle of wine to my go bag. I don't know why I didn't think of that....it's so obvious
  6. Hi Jayman and welcome. 3 weeks is not enough time to judge whether the diet was beneficial or not. Some issues do not resolve quickly and can take up to a year or more to reconcile. You may also want to cut out dairy as it may be a problem for you. Hemorrhoids will cause you to feel pressure. Otherwise just try to eat healthy and see your Doctor...
  7. I"ll tell you what. I've been trying to get thru a cold virus for 3 1/2 weeks now. It has my immune system in an uproar. Everything hurts and is inflamed. Hopefully things for you will calm again or else you may have to see about another Autoimmune problem. Colleen
  8. Starting now with the house is a good idea. Wait until you have the Scope done until you actually eat gluten free unless, of course, the GI does not do one. When that last test is done, start your new diet and hopefully your Kitchen will be ready by then. Good Luck Colleen
  9. Hey Nicole, I'm thinking the steroid was masking that too. They subside your immune system. Have you had the Bone Density Scan lately?. Also, get your joints moving by getting in the water. You have to keep your flexibility up or the joints may "freeze" I was close to my shoulder doing that. I do think your immune system is flaring. When I get...
  10. Step away from the lighter fluid Addy....
  11. POOF There goes the house!....lol. So, I read those links Irish and these areas will get rain on them so the borax will not work and my Haz Mat suit is at the Cleaners anyway. I'm thinking I will try the boiling water and see what happens. My Cat lays in the gardens too so I really want to avoid chemicals. If all else fails I will Nuke the place...
  12. You are truly devious I wonder if lighter fluid would catch the mulch on fire.
  13. Is it the texture of chalk/borax/sweet n low.... they don't like? What about corn starch? That fine, silky feel? Boiling water is very interesting....I will ponder that one. Just wondering how my flowers would like that hot water, of if I could find the main nests I could do that. hmmmmm.
  14. Did you know that Borax can shut down a Nuclear Reaction? And can stop a Radiator Leak? And......can be used in making Silly Putty? Would I need a Hazmat Suit for this stuff? Isn't "Wiki" annoying? LMAO
  15. Here in the Midwest we have these Mutant Sugar Ants. They Bite! I use Bay Leaves in my pantry and one of the bathrooms where the ants come every year but it's not practical to use them outside. I noticed last Fall and now this Spring that they have invaded my flower gardens. It's not just a couple of annoying nests, these things are THICK. I'm looking...
  16. Oh my gosh Lisa. Please be careful. Colleen
  17. She also touched my life...I remain grateful for that.
  18. Ceramic should be fine to use. It is porous, yes, but not after it is glazed and safe for food. If there are large cracks or chips in it I would replace it. hairline cracks wouldn't worry me Good Luck. Colleen
  19. I would also suggest looking for a therapist/psychologist who uses CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and/or EMDR. These can be strong tools in learning new ways to deal with issues and cope. Mindfulness is a technique used at home and has its roots as far back as Buda. There is a Western Mindfulness technique you can look at on-line. Music is always...
  20. Hi sastolar, and Welcome. I haven't taken those either but from what I can gather, some do have soy, which can be a common irritant and like you said, a shared facility. I would be more worried if they were shared lines. Have you tried them yet? You might have to be the guinea pig on this one... Colleen
  21. The member you replied to has not been active for 7 years. You will most likely NOT get a reply, Colleen
  22. Cardrlinow, Welcome to the Forum. Since you tested Negative (you may want to confirm all of the Celiac tests were done) then maybe you are gluten intolerant like your Grandma. It's called NCGI. Maybe you could test the gluten theory. Eat gluten free for at least 3-4 months. Track your symptoms to see if anything improves. This would be good information...
  23. Looks like you should talk to your Doctor before deciding to take it. Colleen
  24. Hi Canuck. Just so you know, this thread is 6 years old. You may want to start a new thread. Good Luck. Colleen
