  1. Donna, Each lab is different. Enterolab, Prometheus, LabCorp, etc etc etc. Each has different ways and different scores. You'll need to get the full copy of the tests (not just have them read them...physically go pick them up!). That will help, because you'll see the reference ranges. Plus, if you have questions, you can post your results/ranges here...
  2. Reading Dr. Green's book (Celiac Disease: A hidden epidemic) really cleared things up for me. I didn't cheat before (because I have such awful symptoms), but it reinforced it in me...really reading and learning about it opened my eyes in a completely new way. I think to myself "Do I want to live a long, happy life with people I love" OR "Do I want a cookie...
  3. I think my teeth are rotting just thinking about it.
  4. Because of the 2006 Food Labeling Law, ANY source (whether it be modified food starch, natural/artificial flavorings, etc) that is derived from wheat MUST be labeled. Now, that doesn't cover other gluten products (but, I *think* wheat would be the most common in these ingredients, IN GENERAL). Thank you to Penguin and Richard for helping clear up the...
  5. So are you lactose intolerant or casein intolerant?
  6. I just wrote them, thanking them for such a wonderful and accurate story.
  7. Bev, I know what you mean! It sucks. I don't have any good advice for you, but I have also noticed that I often get bad D before my period (not that its that different from most days for me, haha!). That really is great you are getting it again--definitely a sign of hope! I hope that you make it through the day....getting bad D drains the energy. Good...
  8. Hey Linda, Yeah, I think its Dr. Raymond. She is supposed to be good and is hard to get into. Unfortunately, Celiac is the least of my concerns at this point. Hopefully you'll find her-or someone else!!! Laura
  9. She is a GI. By no means is she a Celiac specialist....but seemed willing to work with me. Just thought I'd throw it out there
  10. Linda, Just so you know, I would NOT recommend Dr. Dandalides in Chesapeake/Norfolk, if you are looking for a GI. I have had my share of horrible doctors, and he takes the cake. (I started seeing Dr. Jacqueline Salcedo in Virginia Beach, right before I left. I didn't see her long enough to work through my problems before I moved, but I was impressed that...
  11. Jess, I hope it goes well. It can be scary when you just want an 'answer'....I hope that everything is ok, though. And please keep us updated. Take care, Laura
  12. Thanks for the laughs! I'm still in the middle of unpacking boxes (and will be for days...weeks...agh!) and needed some laughs
  13. I hope you have a very happy Birthday, Tavi! I just popped in briefly....I now have internet, phone, and cable TV! I'm surrounded by boxes but I'll be able to check in every so often. I enjoyed the jokes----I need them right now! By the way-What is Daily Strength? Numerous people have mentioned it and I don't know what site it is? Back to...
  14. Just a drive by...on hubby's computer (he is stayin in Virginia Beach til he finds a job up north...so his is still set up). Truck is fully loaded, in laws came and went, friends came and went, and mom came and went...she is on her way up to Fairfax to start unloading stuff. We'll be on our way shortly (Eric is driving truck, I'll have my car). Whew! I...
  15. LindaLee- 2nd Storehouse on Indian River Road. Take 64, get off at exit 286b (Indian River East) and turn R at the light (if you turn left you turn into the Founders Inn/Regent). It is before you hit the intersection at Centerville. Jeff is the owner, and is a super nice guy. Its a small place, but he has lots of great stuff. Have you tried organicdepot...
  16. Linda, Actually, surprisingly enough, there are gluten free stores. A family opened one in Pennsylvania, about 20 minutes from my parents house. Everything in their store is gluten free---they opened it because people in their family were diagnosed with Celiac. There is one in Virginia Beach, and he carries probably 90% gluten free stuff (independently...
  17. 40something women, men, and ish ishs, I will be off for the next few days. My in laws come today to help finish packing/cleaning, and mom comes tonight. Tomorrow we load the truck and drive to Fairfax. Monday we unload. Eric (husband) drives back to Virginia Beach on Tuesday (he hasn't found a job yet because my position happened so quickly!). Tuesday...
  18. Bev, When I was an undergrad, I worked closely with a psychology prof (my major...and later went on to grad school to get my PhD, but got sick with Celiac, decided to "only" get my master. But, I digress.) and one of the classes he taught was a 300+ section of Developmental Psy. He lectured M, W, and on Fridays, we met in individual classes with 25 or...
  19. When you click on the link, it is the transcript, BUT, on the right hand side, you can click to play the WHOLE story. It was a 3:42 segment. YAY Open Original Shared Link
  20. Wow-Bev, Ursula, et al, My temperature is consistently on the low side as well. Definitely in the 97s. So a 99 "temp" is HIGH for me when I'm sick! Hmm....another thing to add to my list. What would I do without yall, honestly.
  21. Chelsea, Happy to have you here!
  22. Floridian, Actually, for a national news segment (think, 30 min, minus commercials...what, maybe 22 min?) I was actually REALLY impressed that it got as much time as it did (lead in from Katie, story, then 'discussion'). My husband works in the news business so I pay more attention to that type of stuff....so I must say, I was impressed that they gave it...
